Ember suddenly Burst into Flames

I was doing the Vvardenfell story quest chain yesterday and had just finished one of the quests, it was either Divine Disaster or Divine Restoration. I was looking to see where I needed to go next and Ember suddenly burst into flames. She started screaming and saying she needed help. I wasn't sure what to do so I hurried up and ran outside of the area I was in and she followed. When we got outside she was no longer on fire.
I had never seen anything like this happen before and it was frankly disturbing. Has anyone else had this happen?

✭✭✭Is that toward the end of the chain? (I can't remember.) Did she perhaps get hit with a piece of falling burning rock?
Other than the fact that embers do sometimes re-ignite into full flame (sorry), I can't think of anything that would cause her to spontaneously combust. And I haven't had it happen, myself.
I didn't have any Companions unlocked on the character I did the Vvardenfell quest chain with.5 -

Paulytnz✭✭✭✭✭Sounds like a glitch of some kind. My Argonian char has had a weird glitch twice now too on two different days. While just doing his crafting quests (in Vvardenfell) I lose control of him for a few seconds, and he dodge rolls by himself and all of a sudden gets two buffs or debuffs that he normally does not get from any source (or at least I don't think).
At first (the first day) I thought it was someone trolling me by using skills on me. But that would not explain how I can't control him after those few seconds. Then while trying to open the craft reward bags nothing would happen. I guess this may be that UI glitch. Only way to fix it was a /reloadui.
Same thing happened again yesterday too, so I know there is something strange going on. This may have NOTHING to do with your companion glitch of course. I am just saying, you never know when a new glitch will hit you and/or maybe a companion and you never know in what form it may come lol.Please support my Quality of Life Suggestions here:

✭✭✭✭✭This happened to me once in Sunspire, not even a companion. Out of combat, no attacks or effects around, just burst into flames and died immediately. It was sourced from Yolnahkriin, but did not pull the boss or start combat for anyone else in group.5 -

I had this happen a couple years ago to me in VDSA and died to poison that didn't exist in VSCP. We at the door, nobody aggroed the boss, and combat didn't initiate when I died. I just was good one moment and the next I was dead. LOL.Edited by spartaxoxo on December 9, 2022 3:40AM1 -

It was the same for me with her yelling and in obvious distress. But we weren't in combat at the time.PCNA0 -

✭✭✭Oh, since it has happened to another player as well, I wonder if it's just a rare (or "unlocked" as she gains in level) idle animation of hers; perhaps one of her spells going wrong? (like maybe when she's standing there playing with lightning?)

✭I had that once too, she started yelling at me all of the sudden and when I turned around she was on fire. I wasn't in combat at the time so I'm not sure if it was a bug or not.

✭✭✭✭She did that today for me as well, she poofed into a pile of ashes after yelling for help. My character had a bounty on it and I was spotted while standing around rifling in my inventory. I guess Ember took the brunt of it. I rolled away, looked back and she was ashes. Poor little thing. Then she reappeared like nothing happened. I thought companions couldn't die.Fan of playing magblade since 2015. (PC NA)

TBH I love Ember, she's been my main companion since High Isle but I've never had her do this for me as an idle or glitch and she's been max level for a couple months now.
I'm really not surprised given how many other bizarre glitches I've seen lately.
The best one yet was last night doing a vent in Galen. The end boss was about 1mil HP from dead, I got hit with a knockdown and then couldn't get back up.
But I could move... and jump... but no mount, barswap, attack, etc.
So my character is sliding around the vent area flat on her back occasionally jumping, I could run too, funny stuff.
I've had running on mount, the classic.
Also had my weapon models and bar swap get mixed up, so I had a 2H that shot arrows and I could whack things with my bow.
Game is really in an "interesting" place right now.
