I Found A Way To Add More Than 1 House To Guild Message Of The Day

As the title says. I found that you can add more than 1 of your houses to the Guild Message of the day. Then you have an option to cycle which house of them you wish to travel to. I am not sure how many is the maximum, but I have 4 added atm. I am guessing it probably depends on the text char limit.

The purpose of this post is to ask anyone from ZOS if this is okay to do or would be considered an exploit or may negatively affect the game in some way? I guess I should add a @ to a ZOS member but I am not sure how to do that lol.

Edit - I guess I should mention that when you choose which house to go to it DOES teleport you there perfectly safe and sound. :p

I believe this is intended, based on the fact that they even thought to program gamepad mode so that you can cycle through multiple options. I have four homes linked in mine.

There are still glaring issues with gamepad mode being subpar compared to keyboard mode in terms of functionality (can’t see in a guild bank unless you have withdrawal perms, can’t take a treasure map if you have a copy in your bank but not on your person, you see different population levels at the same time in Cyro, etc.), so this functionality was a pleasant surprise to me. If they didn’t intend to allow multiple homes to be linked at all, they would not have taken the time to add a function to cycle through them, I think.

Yeah, I agree, I think it's a case of "more to come" and them just testing how it is atm before giving us all the powers/info. Still, it's better to be safe than sorry.

I am on PS5 so I can't comment on gamepad mode etc.

As I understand it, you can port to any house that a player owns from the chat window using a script command, although you need to know which houses the player owns (I think) and you must have visitation rights for the house. I forget what the script command is, but I think someone posted about it in these forums and no one from ZOS ever said that it's an exploit, so I don't see why you couldn't put the appropriate script commands in your MOTD as a link, or however it would work, such that you'd be able to use one of your houses as the guildhall for one of your guilds, another house as the guildhall for another guild, or multiple houses for the same guild-- such as one that has all of the set crafting stations, another that has all of the mundus stones and combat dummies, etc.

Yeah, that makes sense. Thanks for that input, I may have to try and find that post/Script Command. I was trying to figure it out manually in game lol. Being I am a console player there is not too many commands that we have access to I don't think, or at least the info may have not been given.

Edit - I also think with this trick we should be able to add more than one person's house in the message too, it seems simple enough to do, not tried yet tho.

Okay, I just did a bit of searching online and found the script command for chat:
    /script JumpToSpecificHouse("@player",house)

where @player is the player's "at" account name typed inside quotation marks, and house is the number of the house you want to jump to. I don't know what the numbers are for all of the houses, but I imagine you could cobble together a list by using some player who owns all or most of the houses and whose houses you have visitation rights to.

Edit: Actually, I just remembered that the UESPWiki gives the ID numbers of the various houses:

Brilliant thanks again for that! I did have a couple of the house numbers from my testing, I was going to create a list, I guess now I don't have to. I usually use that site/webpage too for some of my housing needs so that's silly of me for not seeing that before.

I currently have 71 houses myself, so I am going to play with this a bit when i get a chance. Now maybe my guild can start listing all of our houses in our Discord channel for visits/etc.

I am expecting soon enough we will get the option inside the game itself without needing to enter the script command. My guess is they will add an option in the guild's roster somewhere, it's gonna happen, wait and see lol (not creating rumours, am quietly hoping - not so quietly). ;)

Edit - Not working for me, good chance because I am on console.

After further testing here is more stuff that we can do:

1 - The max number of houses for Message of the Day we can put is 13 - with no other text info, so it's limited.

2 - You can have the Message of the Day blank or with normal info and NO house options. Instead, you can add that info into the "About Us" field and the cycling of the houses as well as teleports still work!

3 - Lastly you can have your houses in Message of the Day AND add EXTRA houses to the "About Us" field (different houses ideally) and those will work too, the game will let you cycle between all the houses and teleport to them.

I am guessing the limit for the "About Us" field is 13 houses again. So possibly 26 Houses Total but of course no other Info in the fields. This could be okay tho for guilds that just want to display their houses and not much else.

Having said all that tho, I am not giving any info out unless I hear from ZOS on this first. But it's easy enough to figure out I guess, as I stumbled upon it simply from just trying to add my 1 main house to the message in the first place, complete stumble lol.

I mean, they literally have a button in there to cycle through the houses so that seems intended. This is especially useful for guilds that may have multiple houses servicing various needs - such as someone having a guild hall of craftables, someone else having a furniture store, maybe another officer has mundus stones and target dummies, perhaps someone else has a luxury furnishing vendor furniture store, etc.

I have two furniture stores with a third in the works, and linked my two current stores in the guild's About Us with a descriptor of each store. I cannot possibly fathom that is bugged or harming anyone. It's a bit of a Godsend for those of us who have been asking for years to have a way to set a secondary residence in addition to a primary residence. This kinda fits that bill.

Now, if only it worked in guild roster notes. It would be awesome for everyone to have their primary residence, then link their other houses in their guild roster notes!

This is also a bit of a work-around for the eventual "one guild hall with all attunable crafting stations" issue, wherein even those with the largest ESO+ 700-furnishing slot houses will eventually run out of room to fit more attunable crafting stations as sets keep getting added. Now, in theory, a GM could eventually reshuffle their housing and set one house up with tables A-M and a second house up with tables N-Z and link both in their MOTD or About Us.

Or honestly just opens it up where if a GM or officer whose primary is/was an official guild-type thing and they wanted to enter a different house of theirs in the housing contest of a different guild they're in, now they can because they can just plug their guild house into the MOTD or About Us, then make their contest house primary instead of being stuck with just the guild hall as primary forever.

You can now share links to any of your homes via Chat or the Guild Message of the Day!
Links to your homes can be created from the Collections menu or from the House Information panel shown while in a home’s Browse/Inspection Mode.

It literally says linkS, as in plural, in the patch notes. And there is built in functionality to support multiple links without any workaround, even on console. You just press right on the d-pad to cycle thru. Posting multiple links is literally just copy and pasting multiple ones into the message, again no weird workarounds required.

    It's an intended function.

Thanks for that, I guess I didn't try hard enough to figure that out lol.

    @DragonRacer

Yeah, I have 16 Furniture stores, covering all furnishing categories, so I hear you and this was one of the reasons I was excited for this and any further extras to this feature that may come yet.

Yes, you are right about all the extra options this brings to what houses we can put in the MOTD and the "About Us" field. So many options now.

    @spartaxoxo

True it does say "links" etc. But tbh, there were so many changes with that patch and so many notes in the patch notes it could be easy for them to forget to add all the info or leave something out. In fact, us console users just got a copy & paste of the patch notes from PC users patch notes, so there were bits and bobs that meant nothing to us - such as mentioning gamepad mode etc. So again, easy to see things could be left out etc.

My main concern is if every guild all of a sudden started listing a lot of houses, who knows what the impact could be on the servers or databases. I don't work in programming or game development, so I have next to no knowledge there, so here I am. Thanks for your input. :)

Oh, and I’d seen you have this question earlier and had meant to answer it, but gamepad mode basically means when a PC player uses a controller to play instead of mouse and keyboard.

Now, the question is - when gamepad mode is mentioned in console patch notes, is that a change for our controllers, too, or a leftover from the PC notes? Good question…

You can format any link this way and put it in chat, in the MoTD, anything. It's actually pretty handy since I've been able to get permission to share a house link in the guild MOTD from someone who doesn't currently have access to the game

    |H1:housing:15:@Nettle|h|h

In this case, "15" would be the house ID grabbed from UESP or wherever you'd like, and the @name of the player. (This example won't work as I purposely changed the numbers and name)

Overall it works pretty much the same as the JumpToSpecificHouse, just easier.

Yeah I know, I was just saying it's redundant to mention it for us console players in patch notes as we constantly use controller/gamepad anyway. We can and I do use a keyboard as well but that gives very limited options, mainly just for chatting.

I wouldn't try using that example anyway because even if you had given the correct info your account wouldn't exist on console anyway or at least on my server lol. Besides that, I wouldn't link random people's houses, sure it might be funny but not my style lol.
