Alliance change token and abandoning campaign

I purchased an alliance change token to swap one character. Once I changed the characters alliance at the start of the new campaign, it would not let me in until I abandoned the campaign on other characters.
Keep in mind, I have not logged on other characters for awhile, I was not in cyrodiil on other characters, and I haven't even entered cyrodiil on any of the characters for several campaigns. Still it made me spend 100k ap for one character, and a additional 200k total for the other two characters until I was able to join the campaign on character I wanted too.
It seems unfair to charge so much gold or ap to drop alliances before you are even locked into them. Not to mention it cost crowns to buy the token in the first place.
I hope zos looks at this to potentially address the cost issue. And if anyone wants to switch alliances, I recommend to save the AP to pay for the abandonment, so you don't have to use gold like I did.

✭✭✭✭✭There is a recurring problem where the game reassigns unused characters to a faction-locked campaign. You may be able to avoid the fee for undoing that by choosing a new home campaign for them rather than only abandoning the old one. At least this is the way my partner has told me it worked for her.1 -
