It's time for new class(es)

Probably not the first time this has been said and I'm sure there will be loads of people who may disagree but it's time. The game needs to draw people back to it given the apparent exodus of late. New class(es) could help stimulate that.
e.g.
Archer/Ranger - a proper bow class with all the skills and perks associated plus new ones specific to the class and not cobbled together skills with Warden/Nightblade etc.
Wizard - not Daedra-based with perhaps a different magic path to the Fire/Shock/Ice
Druid - TBH I'm shocked this wasn't a thing for this year's story. Would have been a great tie-in to new toons joining the druids as a base story.
Anyway, just a few ideas.

Thanks for listening.

I'd like an archer who could actually fire arrows farther than about 40-45m. When I found out that was the limit, I stopped wasting my time leveling up the archery skills. It's just not a realistic limit.

Agree, there should be a well-thought-out bow class.

The current bow class based on the Rogue does not really fill the need for me to have a ranger-like class.

I would really love a good bow-based class.

Don't think there's an MMO I've played that had "realistic" ranges for ranged weapons. It's purely about game/encounter balance.
(like tabletop miniatures games where super-tech sci-fi rifles fired by genetically-engineered supersoldiers only have a range of 24" / 50m, and "artillery" has ranges under 200m)

Weapons can't be realistic and maintain any type of balance.

propelling shield can increase your bow abilities by 7 meters iirc.

Hate to break it to you but this game is not realistic, but the bow range is a realistic limit. Enemies don't render in until like 100 meters (numbers can vary due to a multitude of factors, but for argument sake let's just assume it's 100). Having abilities be 50 or 60 meters or more means that you'll have archers at opposite ends hitting targets in the middle, but they'll never be able to see each other. It's less realistic to be in the same battle but not on the same grid than it is to have shorter range on bows than what is [humanly] possible. Let's not forget that you can't hurt your own team and your arrow and abilities will pass through a person on your side to get to the target, that's also not realistic. Additionally, unless a roll dodge is involved your arrow homes in on the target. For a stamina ability, this isn't very realistic either.

    New classes?

Ok, we'll have mandatory Alegebra, Calculus, Physics and Escatology classes starting first of the year.

    No, it isn't.

We need more combat features for our existing classes.

Yes, it is. We need new class in 2023. I hope it's monk or bard. We'll see. Also... don't forget about servers upgrade. Including console.

New classes sound fun, they've been teasing us with water magic in the latest chapter so maybe something in that theme would be nice?

The biggest counter argument for adding new classes is balance issues and I understand that. I'd also be content to have updates and more visual customization options for current classes.

High Isle chapter and Firesong dlc have new assets which would work well with the Warden class. Give us an option to conjure spriggans and other forest spirits instead of Morrowind-themed creatures, or let us transform into or conjure one of those giant forest guardian spirit things instead of summoning a bear as an ultimate.

Same with Necromancer class and Vampire skills. NPCs get all those cool animations/skills while what we have pale in comparison.

But the range limit for spells is realistic? ;-)

There was talk of a monk class by a streamer, forget his name. He referenced the end boss of black drake villa and that boss's play style as his evidence. i mean he spoke like a new class was definitely forthcoming from zos, because it's the only thing that can bring players back at this point.

a new class is definitely a good idea and i really hope it happens in 2023. do the other classes need more balance and adjusting? yes, and they probably always will. but a new class would reel people back in for sure, as long as it's something good.

Love a new class but for sure they have to create a new weapon. Maybe best to create a new class and weapon and both are very much in sync with eachother that would be very cool.

I want a Bard or an Alchemist class. For the Bard I'm thinking about magical songs which provide all sorts of buffs and advantages to represent a group's boosted morale. For the alchemist I'm thinking about an advanced crafting skill line which you can combine with any class, sort of like a World Skill. I mean, it would be so much fun to hurl flasks at everything and watch it all explode, or throw a combination of cocktails for additional effects! That would be so cool. But yeah, I only ever have dumb ideas no one else seems to like, so..

But yeah, new class. Definitely. It's time. No way? Yes way!

Bard / Minstrel, with a song for speed. So it can introduce speed trains into Cyrodiil. It would promote more grouping especially for the new players with the slow mounts who get picked off and group v group pvp. Help with lag at the decreased use of mounts.
The ability to hide with a group and being able to ambush. coordinating with other groups at certain points on the map, using parts of the map which hardly see any action. Just now everyone needs a capped horse speed and other speed options, keeping everyone together is a hassle, Speed groups means everyone is on follow to the Bard / Minstrel, everyone is together. Though the emphasis is on speed, songs of control / healing would be used in mid battle.

This would bring another element to Cyrodiil which wouldn't be a bad thing as the last time I dropped in it was kinda dead.

In PvE another class with great utility / healing / control and good dps options.

Classes are cool but I wouldn't mind a New Weapon. I'll never quit this game if they make a Crossbow with it's own abilities and ultimate(make it a ballista and replace the bow morph lul)

a new class would be neat but without class change tokens it would also mean having to make an alt just to use said class not to mention the sheer headache of trying to balance the class along with the others, plus it would most likely have parts of the toolkit taken from other classes for example, like what happened with templar healing with wardern got released

a new weapon type and skill line to go with it however would be easier to balance and be accessable to all players, but it would require a bit more dev work implmenting them into all the drop tables and arena variants
Personally I am hoping for an unarmed skill line via a hand-wraps weapon type

I have been waiting years to make a Tang Mo monk. While I have given up all hope of them bringing in a new playable race, monk would be nice, and is lore friendly. We got wardens, then Necro, let the monk shine(and yes, a new class, not just a weapon skill. I, and several others, would like to play a monk, not just an unarmed dk or warden.

I rather have more skillines than classes.

I can just imagine a new class would have some skill that should be available for everyone

Same. I also kind of don't want to fully level up a new character or 2 again, especially since I would need to delete at least one.

This wouldn’t bring me back by any means - I know I’m not alone. What appeal would a new skin on existing animations really have going for it?

Especially considering in the months since I put this game down for good, what were once decently unique class identities way back when, have only been further hollowed out from the poor state they were in at the time. Why invest any time in a new class after witnessing the brutal grinder Templar or Warden have been fed through this year?

It may well appeal to those who drift in and out of the game over time anyway. But this would make zero difference to the disaffected who’ve just given up on the product.
