"You can't ignore any more accounts." - Unacceptable

Given the sheer number of knuckleheads inhabiting this mortal coil, I wholehearted believe the cap on the "Ignore List" should be lifted.

Between the bots, the spammers, the trolls and other such knuckleheads - one's "List" tends to fill rather quickly.

And before you say it, yes I have a spam-filter add-on but it doesn't do anything to prevent ....special individuals from being special.

I guarantee you there is more than 100 individuals at any given time that deserve to be muted.

Discuss.

I was very disappointed in the small ignore list cap...although I am not really a fan of Star Trek Online anymore, having an "infinite" ignore list cap was the best.

We really should have ~500 ignore cap at least to make zone chat bearable..

What are y'all doing that you have time to read zone chat? I normally stay too busy to pay attention to it. Maybe I'm inured and do a mental blockout. Also, on those rare occasions when colored text or the pseudo-hieroglyphics gold spammers use to circumvent filters becomes a distraction I minimize my chat screen. Have yet to block anyone; and would a 500-cap be enough anyway? Seems like it would be more of a PITA and folks would soon be asking for a 1000 cap.

This isn't an issue. An ignore button is meant for spammers and people trying to harass you. If you have issues with what people are saying in zone chat because of the stupidity, simply ignore it without the use of the button.

The problem is when accounts get banned they are not being deleted from your ignore list. Most likely a vast number of your ignores are no longer relevant...unless of course you have ignored 500 real people in game...in which case I shall step back slowly speaking soft words so as not to upset the ire of ignorage :P

On the same token, you can ignore the cold without the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment?
Your statement is akin to say cars are only for driving to work and back. You're placing a hard limit on a function that is used in different ways by different people. What you may be able to do out of apathy, others may not. They shouldn't have to change their lifestyle and belief structure just because you believe it's wrong or there's a better way.

If I want to pay attention to part of zone chat - either for people calling bosses or anchors and some knucklehead is writing in all caps about how l33t he is or how he wants sexy times with a guar I should be able to no longer have to see the eyesores that are this individual's thoughts vomited onto the chat channel.

Well, the only workable solution right now is to delete all entries on your ignore list. The real baddies shouldn't be around anymore, anyways. Use the note feature to mark entries you ignored for personal reasons.

Yes. Your brain is capable of ignoring cold. Much like your brain is capable of not getting offended just because you see behavior you don't agree with.
They shouldn't have to change their lifestyle and belief structure just because you believe it's wrong or there's a better way.
Is someone asking you to just ignore the people in zone chat who are offending you really asking for a major lifestyle change or belief structure? Or is a reasonable request as an alternative to asking for someone to fix what isn't really broken?

y'all may be considered as slang by some but it is also recognised as being a legitimate word. Yes, it breaks all the old grammatical rules, however language evolves and what may have applied previously i.e. this word being only slang is no longer the case now.

I expect you're correct to some extent. I did grow up on a large dairy in Iowa, but six years of grad school in NYC removed most traces of it. As hard as the work may have been, I often wish I'd not traded an agrarian lifestyle for that of an academic. Alas, as Thomas Wolfe hinted in his aptly named novel, you can never go home again.

They won't vanish from your list. They do not delete the account, they ban the account. I can still ignore the oldest of the gold spammers that I have in my offline list that I maintain.

I think that 100 people in the ignore list is more than enough. If you are running out of room it is because you are not removing the old ones.

Considering it is common practice for gold sellers to delete characters they use to spam chat with regularly as they are usually put on ignore quickly so in order to be seen they delete the old character and make a new one to spam chat in.

You can prob go through and delete some of the people you have ignored as they usually delete after about 24 hours and as ZOS has gone through and removed a lot of gold farmers/spammers you can prob eliminate some of those off your list to see if they are still active or not.

    Just my two cents.

Since they're not in chronological order, it's a little hard for some of us to remember which ones are the 'old ones' in a dynamic situation without resorting to either pen/paper, or a typed database.

Personally, I'll just give up playing, first, if something so trivial is beyond the dev's abilities as it does not bode well for future refinements.

But that's just me, and I don't claim to be the smartest guy in any room. Sometimes that includes rooms I'm alone in.

This would be valid if, when you ignored a character with the right-click option on their name in the chat window it ignored only their character. As it happens, ignoring via this method ignores the entire account via their UserID.

Which, that being the case, I can understand the hesitance to remove any names from the ignore list

Most of them probably are old. I haven't actually seen many spammers in chat recently except for the odd few in the low level areas.
Also, I think they are much more busy fixing stuff that really makes a big difference in the game play. It would be a shame for you if you decide to leave over something so trivial.

Seriously? Don't sit in Zone chat in the starting zones if gold seller spam bothers you.

For the last couple of weeks I have been hunting both bots and gold spammers in my spare time. It is seriously getting harder to find the gold spammers. They are around, but not nearly in the numbers that I was used to seeing. It is much easier to find the resource farmers these days.
