I understand that it's a notification, that is clear. I understand that I can turn it off, and I now have.
The point was that I received an unsolicited email offering me a service, and that email came from ElderscrollsOnline.com. Gold spammers did not email me. ESO.com did not try to sell me gold. ESO.com did send gold spam to my email address. That's amusing.

No. You received a PM not a email. Stop trying to blame ZOS.
Why do people not understand the term "notification"?
It's neither an email from a gold spammer to you nor is it ZOS sending you gold spam.
The email you got is simply a notification that someone sent you a PM here on the forum (which happened to be spam).
And on top of that, a simple search would have yielded plenty of information on the subject.
;-)

ZOS should have disabled the feature by default. Someone didn't do their homework.

Gold seller site has been (CENSORED) in the message below by me - The last thing I need is to be labeled a goldspammer. Got this email from the address Community@ElderScrollsOnline.com. Really guys? I can't even get the message to load in the inbox here to delete or report it...
I get that there's probably some place to turn off email notifications, but I find it a little ironic that I never asked for them to begin with and the first one I get is this. ESO is goldspamming me on behalf of the goldspammers. GG, really crackin' down on 'em.
