I didn't realize how beneficial food was until I was in Vet Ranks.

Now, I'm pretty sure Varanis Arano has cavities from her diet of Bewitched Suger Skulls.

Even if it was just the tri-stat food the daily rewards, there really isn't a reason to not have one unless you are the most casual of players.

I used to think it was cheating, but I've gotten over my foolish beliefs and use food buffs and potions 100% of the time.

Don't always keep up with food buffs when overland questing or node gathering, but I like the health and mana/stamina buffs from food and drinks when doing dungeons, world bosses etc.

most cases no, i dont bother with food

the only times i definitely use food is trials (vet or normal), dungeons (vet only, and sometimes only DLC vets), and pvp

For difficult content, world bosses or veteran dungeons I'll eat some food but for regular overworld stuff I'm fine with my food buff expiring.

It depends on what I'm doing, if it's group content/pvp then of course, if I'm solo'ing, I don't have a buff usually, which means I invariably get into trouble when fighting a WB or harder mobs, and then I remember to get it by necessity

This one was using Lava Foot Soup until the block bug so now it’s back to free chicken, which is not as satisfying without the stamina regeneration :/

I usually do, have Scootworks HUD for gentle reminders and Reminderz's audio cue for when I really don't want it to expire without notice, like in PVP or Vet content. I don't bother if I am just crafting, fishing, harvesting, or some overland.

100% of the time. Food and drink is so cheap to make, and you can create so many with Provisioning perks that it doesn't make sense to gimp yourself out of such an easy stat boost.

It's tasty, healthy, and useful. My character knows enough about adventuring to not do it on an empty stomach. ;-)
(And he's a rather tanky sword-and-board fighter, so the stamina boost is appreciated for more DMG in overland, and it gives the two things he needs when/if actually tanking group content.)

I usually rely on simple drinks from barrels for stam / mag regen, so I almost always have one active and feel it when it runs out. I may use something better when I remember to, but I hate going out of my way to buy or craft consumables that then make me fell like I have to rush through content to get the most out of the buffs.

I don't do anything where it would really matter but I'm also used to having a food buff up in most games, so it evens out to about half the time. I don't bother with anything other than crown meals though, since they give me so many I destroy hundreds at a time just to free up inventory, and the hardest thing I might be doing is a public dungeon.

Only if I'm doing something difficult for me, like soloing a world boss or a dungeon. That's probably less than 25% of my playtime, but it was the closest answer. Otherwise I don't buff, unless it's for an endeavor.

I spend most of my time in overland. I don't need buffs there unless I'm doing any of the above. I don't buff for stuff I wouldn't attempt to solo, like dragons or harrowstorms. Since I only do those with other players, buffs aren't required.
