Do you think ZOS will give us a "Change Class" token in near future?

Honestly, I thought there's already a class change token by now... I'm shocked there isn't. But for free??? Hmmmm... They did give a Race Change before sooooo... I'm 50-50 on that.

Apparently, class change breaks core parts of the game and race change does not. It will just take them longer to monetize that part of the game.

To the people who are answering yes, what do you base this on? What makes someone think Zenimax will be offering this soon?

    Wishful thinking.

It's much more probable that they release a paid way to create a new character that copies motifs and riding skills from an existing character.

Yes, I think ZOS will give us the "Change Class" token soon.
Some players prefer only playing one character and not playing again through content. Those players may have interest in a class change token. Not offering this is a financial loss. I know many other games that offer a class, race, etc.. change token only to profit each time a player makes said changes.

I personally feel like there should be more than 2 binary options. I do see it as a definite possibility but probably not anytime soon.

Lots of reasons. I think that ZOS is putting more priority on "Player requested QoL" stuff, and class change would be a major feather in that cap. This is a player-oriented game, not a character-oriented game and class change fits with that nicely. They have talked about being able to play the whole game, and this would allow players to experience end-game without creating a new character. If people are not creating new characters just to have a new class, it will reduce the load on the database that stores characters, which will probably impact performance over time. I really hate the idea of class change tokens, and ZOS seems attracted to ideas I don't like, so that almost seals the deal.

Oh... and they can sell them for Crowns. I probably should have led with that.

I don't know of one game that allows a class change. Most games I still dabble in or have played in the past only allowed race / gender changes or alliance if game has that.
And I'm not counting FFXIV only because it's unique in how it handles it.

As much as I'd love to have one it would probably cut too much into crown sales for riding training, skill lines, skyshards, etc.
Or it would have to be really, really expensive for ZOS to consider it.

    hopefully I'm wrong.

Nope, and wouldn't support it if they did. Want to play a new class? Level a new class. Its not that hard. To be honest, I think race change has nothing to do with class change. Race is an afterthought in terms of building a character from a combat perspective, its a few stats that despite popular belief, just dont matter that much. Class is a completely different animal.

Very unlikely. They make too much money from things like selling skyshards you collected in other characters, skill lines ect.

oooh god, what I would give for class change tokens! Right now, I can't be bothered to play other classes from level 1 and to level up everything again, so I play other games instead, and just do a few dailies on my main.

Would love so much if ZoS would implement them, it would revive my interest in ESO so much for me.

If it was only about money ESO could make off a class change token, I still think they make more having us to start new characters. With the mount and backpack upgrades alone for a new character, ZOS could lose (ie. make less) profit with class change tokens, unless the tokens were really expensive.

They are at the stage of doing the bare minimum. Starfield is in the future. Besides, I don't think we want them to tweak anything right now or ever again. Every time they do there is an issue. I say add more character slots before giving us a token.

I have never understood why people are so attached to a character that they want to change EVERYTHING about them.

I find that people who say "I have never understood" mean to imply that some notion lies beyond comprehension, but its often more of an indictment on that person's capacity or wish to understand.

It also always surprises me the vitriol with which some people stand against the notion. I get that some people are opposed, don't see the need, or don't want it personally, but you get the impression reading some of these posts that some here are so enraged by the idea that they want to flip their tables.

I don't think it will impact meta- people who feel the need to go FOTM just reroll and speed level anyway. It would be a convenience only.

I have one character I made back in 2014 when you couldn't play with people of different factions, and I'd met a good bunch of people who were all EP. I made her a sorcerer, because that was the class I was most competent on, just like my main- I wanted to be useful to my new friends.

Fast forward 8 years. 1 Tamriel. 2 new classes. Any faction, any time. As a sorcerer, she's completely redundant now. She's got the perfect name, the perfect backstory, looks EXACTLY the way I wanted her to look (no small feat, anyone who cares will testify), master crafter, everything researched, mount training, but most importantly to people like me, 8+ years of continuity, existence and meaning, but is pointless other than for writs.

Obviously, if you don't value those things, you wont see the need for a class change token for other people like you. But plenty of people DO feel like this, and they aren't inherently wrong to do so. That they do is reflected in race change and other QOL's they've added over the years- on some level, ZOS recognises its a factor- things that people were just as vehemently against and said would never happen, btw.

So, no- I'm not opposed to it, and adding it would help me, and a lot of people out. Yes there are other alternatives, but they aren't completely satisfying. I'd be surprised if they were coming soon, and sure, it may never happen. But never is a very long time not to understand something that's not that hard to see.

I've used all 16 character slots, all maxed out in riding and crafting skill lines with at least 4 of these being pre 'One Tamriel' characters. I still play several of them every day and doubt I would ever change any of their classes, no matter how far away from 'Meta' they may be.

Meta is always changing as races, classes, weapons and skills are buffed and nerfed, so I'll happily keep what I have and be ready for the weak ones to become strong again.

I doubt it; it's easy money, yet they still have not implemented this feature.

Several issues come to mind, like, would they reset progress on your previous class? If it keeps the progress, that would be a lot of data to store (I know it might just be like as small as bytes worth of data, but multiply that by the massive amount of characters on the servers...) if someone decided to swap around a lot of characters or just have 1 that they try a bunch of different classes on. If they reset progress each time to not have to store that data, I feel like a lot of people would skip over any warning text and then get very upset when they may want to switch back eventually and find their prior progress gone.

I would never class swap my main, but if given the option, it would be something I might do it on one of my alts. But honestly, the grind to lv50 isn't that hard, since you get to keep your CP. I would be more interested in a way to save our character customizations; that way, I could just remake a character but swap their class; I have done that in other games where I had to manually remember values lol

Also, I would be very afraid of what would break after making such a big change to whatever structure they would have to mess with to make it happen.

Because they dont want to relearn all the motifs, get all the skill points again, relevel their mounts, do all quests again, get all the wayshrines etc etc

Creating a "Master Rider" token in the store would go a LONG WAY towards fixing that issue.... and people would most definitely buy it.

    Auldwulfe

This kind of already exists though. For only 18,000 crowns you can buy enough riding lessons to max out your mount. Similarly, for only another 20,000+ crowns you can max out your skills, and for another pile you can buy enough skyshards to complete your build. Heck, you can even buy a whole bunch of crafting motifs for crowns.

A big part of why there probably won't be a class change token is that a token costing 50,000+ crowns would be even worse PR than not having a token at all.

And they shouldn't. Why do you need one? Wait for a double xp weekend and you can easily level a handful a characters to 50 and boom you have the class you want.

When I made my main character (who is my crafter with every trait researched and nearly every motif known and who has done almost every quest in the game), I was new to the game. Now, as someone who does endgame, I do not find his original class fun to play--in fact, with how I usually have my buttons set up, I find it physically uncomfortable.

I don't just want to play Warden; I have another fully-leveled Warden. I want to play that character as a class I actually enjoy playing.

no, and I think it is more a juristic issue than a technical one.

I guess they want to avoid situations like these:

"I bought a class change token in june to get the class Necro-Dancer, but in July you nerfed the damage from the skill "break dance" from 500 to 125. The class is useless now for me, so I want the money back for the token".

You cannot nerf skyshards or riding trainings, and racechanges are usually not as devastating as class changes, so those are available.

But then they’ll make more money this way: buff a class, players buy class token; said class nerfed, players complain and buy another token. Rinse and repeat 🔁
