Why No Fixes or Communication?

At the very beginning of the [snip] release of U36 many of the bugs were fixed right away with addons and some of the crashing, but we still have major parts of the game broken (blocking, dodgerolling, purge, etc etc) that keep many of us from playing. There haven't been any more fixes, and we haven't heard from ZOS on progress or a sense of priority.

Overland questers seem to be fine, but folks who like DLC dungeons and trials aren't having fun with needless random deaths etc.

Pinned threads are apparently invisible. Not extensive information, but not nothing.

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/620800/current-pc-game-crashes-w-update-36-updated-nov-2-4-30pm-edt#latest
    Hi everyone,

We are currently tracking a number of game crashes on the PC megaservers since updating to patch v8.2.5 and will be using this thread to give you visibility on the most up-to-date status of these crashes.

Frequent crashes to desktop associated with addons/libraries
After updating the PC client with patch 8.2.5, you may experience frequent crashes straight to desktop with no error messages or crash reporters. Please ensure you disable your addons and libraries as a temporary workaround, particularly any addons that depend on the NodeDetection library.
For instructions on how to disable addons and libraries, please visit the following pages:
    How do I enable/disable add-ons?
What do I do if ESO is crashing without an error message on Windows 10?
We are working on a fix on our end; the soonest we'll be able to get this out is the first incremental patch, currently scheduled on November 14.
Game crashes to character select with minor rollbacks
We are currently tracking a crash that will send you to character select, and you may experience a slight rollback upon logging back in.
[Updated] We applied a hotfix to address this issue on November 2.
Crash to desktop associated with hiding followers
We have seen some reports of players crashing to desktop when turning on the "hide followers in town" option near high-traffic areas.
We are investigating this issue and it will be fixed in a future incremental patch. If you do encounter this issue, we recommend not using the "hide followers" option until the issue is fixed.
[NEW] Crash to desktop before loading into the game
We're investigating an issue where you crash to desktop before loading into the game, with no error messages or crash reporters. We anticipate this being fixed in the incremental patch scheduled for November 14.
    [NEW] Crash when using /encounterlog
Currently, enabling /encounterlog will eventually cause your game to crash. We suggest avoiding using this until we are able to implement a fix in an upcoming incremental patch.
    Other miscellaneous crashes
There are a number of smaller, miscellaneous game crashes that we are investigating. Please ensure you submit any details through the crash reporter, should you receive one.

If you read my post you can see I said they fixed the crashes and addons, but other gamebreaking bugs have not been fixed, nor even addressed since Nov 3.

That's because Stadia is preventing them from rolling out client-side fixes until the next patch, which needs to go through a review process which takes two weeks. We know it's coming on the 14th. Now that Stadia is shutting down next year, we don't know yet if that will allow for more frequent patches, but Stadia is still a thing for now.

We can see the communication in specific threads through the Dev tracker: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/tracker
We can also see that there are a few things posted since Nov 3 there, notably information about the 'True Way Dials' lead not dropping and the vDSR HM bug with fire/frost brand.

    From that article:

" If an emergency arises, we’ll of course work with Stadia to get a patch published ASAP. So in general, PC incrementals will now occur bi-weekly, but if needed, we can update quickly.."

Seems needed to a lot of players like me.

I haven't seen any notice saying they have a fix for the block bug coming in the Nov 14 patch. Please link.

They haven't said that they fixed the block bug internally yet. Logic dictates that they can't release a bug fix until they have said bugfix, so that's even more of an indicator why they haven't patched it out yet.

Believe me, I know how bad it is. I tank in group content. I only tank in group content. I definitely feel the effects of the block bug, and I've definitely eaten a few hits that I shouldn't have because I was holding down the block button but didn't realize the bug dropped my block.

However, it's not insurmountable. Annoying? Absolutely. But I've switched to playing a lot more defensively in my groups and using Magma instead of Warhorn to cover my rear, minimal roll-dodging (and always reapplying block afterwards), and making sure that I was being careful about throwing out skills since I have a very twitchy bash finger. I did end up getting a nodeath for a friend on Monday in RPB even with the bug. Yes, trifectas are going to be very hard/impossible, and this needs to be fixed ASAP. I'd love if they went back to weekly patches once Stadia finally goes away. But it's not like ZOS is just dropping the game and walking away for years.

I would like ZOS to address some of the group content issues. I've got a vKA HM prog that's been in a holding pattern since U35 and its healing nerfs dropped, and it's been on hiatus for the past month because of roster prog. I want nothing more than to get back to that and have endgame players return.

But I also have other things I can do in the game. I'm behind on stories, and my RP alts are still missing a lot of skill points. If one part of the game isn't working, I can go do other things for a while and not get burnt out on one thing. Not to mention that the holidays are getting closer so RL work is getting more hectic, leaving me with less time to play. This bug will get fixed within the month, hopefully sooner rather than later, and if the stars align maybe?I'll finally be able to get that title I want more than anything else.

Of course they can't release a fix that doesn't exist, I didn't know that was controversial.

I've heard from some folks it will be a few weeks, and then others like you assume it will be Nov 14, and the post about Stadia you linked says it allows them to fix in between intervals if needed. Since we don't know how high of a priority it is for them or if they're making any progress, players don't know what kind of expectations to set and they spread conjecture around the message boards without any more info from ZOS.

I don't have any other content to work on besides HMs and trifectas.

overland questers are the majority of ESO players base. ZOS have a priority of fixing bugs. Guess who gets it first.
    It's quite natural and obvious.

Vet tank are true heroes this days, randomly dying at vet dlc dungeons. It's nice that PUG players mostly know about this bug already and really sympathize with the tank in group chat.

They didn’t actually fix the crashes, plural, only the one type of crash producing rollbacks. They haven’t fixed the crashes with NodeDetection or limit followers or logs, which are planned for future incrementals, and who knows where they’re at with fixing the miscellaneous crashes that are producing reporters.

On the game-breaking-but-not-actually-crashing front, they did fix the DK bug, which was being exploited, and the endless siege in Cyrodiil issue, which quickly prevented normal gameplay there.

They have never tended towards posting every day if the update (as with the block issue) is just going to be “still not working internally.” But we also found out today that Gina has had the flu, and while other CMs exist and do contribute, it seems a lot of these are topics that Gina has been in touch with the devs about, so in the absence of an actual emergency we should probably be considerate here.

On the upside, per Code, purge is fixed now.

They should have a fix, it's called "revert combat to how it was before the patch". There should always be a way to revert.

PUGs don't know anything. Myself and many other tanks have received alot of hate and insults because of this bug. Did pug vSS yesterday and 1 tank got even kicked. He main tanked and wiped the group when his block dropped after rolldodge. 1st time it happened everyone was just whatever. But the second time poor guy was mocked called noob etc. Im not sure he was aware of the bug so I whispered him but they already kicked him and the group fell appart shortly after.

There's a reason I won't tank for anyone I don't know. I get enough toxicity at work, I don't need to deal with it from randos in an online game.

The block bugs (plural, since several actions are causing block to drop) make it so I die a lot to things I wouldn't normally die to. When I run with my friends, they know it so they know it's a bug and not me being incompetent. At least not always - I did have a run in vCR the other day where I know not every one of my mistakes was block bug (but then again, vCR is my "that one trial;" you know we all have one).

But PUGging anything? I don't even do it without bugs. I will never need XP or transmutes bad enough to subject myself to that.
I've heard from some folks it will be a few weeks, and then others like you assume it will be Nov 14, and the post about Stadia you linked says it allows them to fix in between intervals if needed. I don't know if the fix is coming Monday. I would hope so, but the last we heard was that they were still investigating as of Nov. 3. If it missed the deadline, then we won't be getting a fix until they get it and put it into a later incremental, which might mean living with this until the 28th (or even later...). I'd hope to hear about an update, but I know Gina's been out with the flu so it's understandable that we're not getting updates, and then we'll be able to see what's been addressed on Monday's patch notes by then.

Oof, 2 more weeks? No, I'd rather not. I'd like this bug fixed please. I just am not going to complain about it since there are other things I can do (like I may have spent the better part of last week sitting at the outfit station since one of my RP alts needed a new costume). Besides, I can try to train myself to work around it. My style of tanking is very stand-in-all-the-stupid-and-just-laugh-it-off in the first place, so I can just throw out more Magmas and fewer warhorns. But one of my things is that I do also bash frequently and without thinking (which is why TT is an amazing set for me), so the other version of the block bug where casting abilities while bashing drops block too will hurt me a lot. I need to be more careful about bashing. And I need to pay closer attention to the screen to see if the block symbol is there.

Regarding your other question, I'm really hoping to be able to build to a vKA HM with one of my guilds. We've had it in planning for ages, but it's been one thing and then another, and it still hasn't happened. "Shield of the North" is just all kinds of perfect for my main, so hopefully this time we'll finally be able to get there. But at least I know the block bug will be fixed by the time we make it to progging Falgravn. And if I can handle at least Yandir HM and most of the trash with the bug, that means I'll definitely be golden by the time we get to the end of the prog.

Just cause they will work with Stadia doesn't mean Stadia will work with them. i work with several vendors for my job daily and it's the worst experience most of the time. Specially now. You think Google is in any hurry to fix stuff on their defunct system? what are you going to do quit using it if fixes/patches aren't quick enough. They don't care.
