What are the DPS numbers looking like for magicka wardens wielding frost staves as opposed to those who aren't as well as opposed to stamina wardens?

Is it really that far ahead?

Yes, there is a significant difference between brittle/frost wardens and magden. I also feel sorry for stamden and this patch too.

    This is not okay.

Pigeonholing Wardens into Ice Staffs over their vigorous objections.
Ignoring actual PVPers feedback on how poorly thought our Emperor Scaling was
Constant feedback that magicka focused Sorcerers needed serious adjustments that aren't just "moar pets".
Ignoring our feedback about PVP breaking sets that still need to be adjusted (Ward).

You clearly aren't listening to your player base. This kind of disrespect comes from the very top. Shame on you ZOS. Shame.

Hey, why cant I give you insightfull, agree and awesome all at the same time?

    This is not fair.
    This is just absurd.
    This is totally wrong.
    This is insanely ridiculous.

The primal role of pts is testing new content to find game breaking bugs. Yes, a lot still got through but if you’re reading through all patch notes you’d notice that it’s their main focus and they fix quite a lot. If your bug report went unnoticed you have all rights to be angry as it’s unpaid job you doing out of passion so it’s understandable.

When it comes to balance changes you can only blame the other players who constantly complain about something op or push for certain changes on this and other forums, at least this is what i saw. Frost for wardens was pushed for years by few individuals who spammed several threads every pts cycle on how to make frost a thing for competitive content, well here ya go. Sorcerers were op in high isle patch so they were nerfhammered like many previous op classes in other updates, not even that hard tbh as i still find it pretty strong and enjoy playing it in both pvp and pve. Countless sets were introduced in op state and then nerfed to the ground a few months later after the complaints. Personally, I stopped caring long ago and just roll with what is fun and/or effective rather than making a long post on why my favorite class should be buffed. It’s always hard to tell whether something will be heard or ignored, but I wouldn’t let my hopes up for something that biased as combat balancing to be looked over possibility of completing quests, dungeons, obtaining certain items or outright crashing and glitching. It never was a focus of a pts as it’s a space for free testing on bugs, new features and possibility of completion dungeons and quests with certain parameters.

Well, they didn't even bother to fix purge yet in months and now dk is also bugged with their damage output, I'm really afraid to play my dk dd right now cause it's probably counted as exploited in zos' eyes

I was looking for a thread about this, I would have thought someone might have mentioned it already because it's extremely broken right now. And yes, accidentally exploiting with this is a consideration, so it sucks not to be able to use these characters.

If they don't listen to the overwhelming majority of players on PTS, what is the point?
Indeed. ZOS is killing their own game.
And of course, ZOS have every right to do it. :s

    ESO players endure repeated disrespect:
    • Disrespect for purchases where new items/sets get nuke-nerfed after having sold enough.
    • Disrespect for progress where progress gets nuke-nerfed after selling OP proc sets.
    • Disrespect for Magicka players when skills get nerfed because new Hybrid-Stamina overperforms.
    • Disrespect for player PTS feedback where almost all constructive input is ignored.

Former ESO developers also endure repeated disrespect:
    • Disrespect for former skillful gameplay replaced by OP proc sets.
    • Disrespect for former diversity gameplay replaced by "hybridization" (uniformity).
    • Disrespect for former role gameplay replaced by "healing-by-damage-stats" (DD godmode).
    • Disrespect for former game balance when Stamina Classes not only rule but dictate PvP.

Each year, when you think it cannot get worse, it does.
In 2022, the ESO combat devs finally destroyed the once great design of ESO.
Play as you want? People now have to play as hybridization and damage-scaling dictate.

ESO nowadays feels much like the Lord-of-the-Rings and Witcher TV series:
The original designs and releases were so great, what could go wrong?
Well, new designers want to tell a "better" story...ignoring why customers LOVED the original.

Not just their mere observations and opinions, but actually have numbers to show.

    [Minor edit for bait.]

But it is true. I don't know many people that actually use the PTS to test. They use it to see the new content so they can blitz through it then complain after it launches that there isn't enough to do. It's the same as with the Diablo 4 Beta. Hardly anybody is looking for bugs or issues. Then those will be the same ppl, like here, that take the to the forums and complain about bugs after it launches.

I remember a time when people actually took getting into a closed beta, or using PTS as actual time to help the game and find actual problems. Now it's all for stream views to be the first to finish content upon release.

I guess I don't understand the downside of using Ice Staves on wardens? As a Magden main this is all I ever wanted. The passive was largely unimportant before, and now we get a boost for using ice. It didn't really feel right shooting fireballs with a staff when Winter's Revenge was a main DoT skill.

I believe some are a bit disappointed that the devs tried to give those who use frost staffs a buff to their viability. I think they feel Magden as a whole was largely ignored in favor of a niche play-style (I know some people were happy with Frost staff being used for tanking).
Edit: This is just my impression of the situation, of course.

Personally, I feel it was a nice gesture from the devs to boost frost damage viability.

I see it as an interesting attempt at it ... but it also does give a bit of the feeling of being railroaded into a specific style, and some people rebel against that. My warden is a single bar dual wield sword and dagger..... and a werewolf
The ONLY frost spell I use is Arctic blast, so that I can engage in Ruffian from my weapon line .... but I also only play overland with him.....

I have thought about using an ice staff, as he is a Nord, and cold magic could work for that.... but haven't really gotten that far with it, and I like having him travel with the Wolf from Solitude, and ride the large wolf..... and yes, I use the Packmaster version of Werewolf.

I will see how it works out, but I also understand that there are those that don't like being stuck with one method that is better than others, as they feel it precludes things.

And, since I also play an Imperial Necro that front bars an Ice Staff, there is a bit of .. damn, I wish I had that bonus here, thing going on.

IMHO the PTS is really just a marketing mechanism for the new DLC's. Oh sure some ZOS employees somewhere might be taking cursory glances at some reports - but when was the last time they actually asked users to test anything specific? ( I'm genuinely asking, not just being snarky, b/c I really can't remember when the last request was - was it during the live PVP testing in Cyrodiil a couple of years ago?)

The PTS is basically just an ad for the next content, and a lab for the min-maxers to find out what the next exploi -er- "meta" will be.

While I don't disagree that a lot of players use the PTS for the wrong reasons, the fact is that the PTS forum has had lots of feedback threads running to many pages throughout this year, especially from the AwA update onwards. Unfortunately, pretty much all that feedback has been ignored including very little in the way of communication.

I'm surprised anyone still plays on the PTS, the tone for engagement was set with the feedback on the AwA changes earlier in the year, and compounded by the non-existent Q&A on the combat changes since then.

I think most people who play on the PTS nowadays either just want to see the new stuff (new zone, new story, new items, etc.) or they want to see how their characters DPS will change.

But there's also probably a minority of players who log onto PTS who believe their feedback will make a difference.

Ionly go onto the pts to see if anything new is worth buying. High Isle was not, nor was anything in the AWA or update 35. I didn't bother with 36 because nothing I ve seen in the game makes me believe anything we say will matter.

I also don't agree with people telling to be easy on the devs. Their job is to make a game, at the base level, playable.

I've been playing Warden for a long time, it's my main. Warden has been stripped of whatever made Warden well... Warden. I stopped paying attention to all the changes they continue to toss at it and I just play it as a lore character. I'm a Breton Druid who can do it all. Thats it, ZOS can't take that from me.

My Khajiit stamina warden, with medium armor and front bar Tzogvin daggers, is not a very happy camper right now.
My magicka warden, with light armor, would be a happy camper... if I trusted the stability of the combat changes enough to burn 25 transmute stones and 8 rosin on a frost staff. Spoiler alert, I don´t trust the stability of the combat changes enough to do that, even though I have about 1.5k transmute stones (end of campaign geodes) and about 8k rosin stashed away.

You clearly aren't listening to your player base. This kind of disrespect comes from the very top. Shame on you ZOS. Shame.

Your forum profile says you joined in 2013. You've been here long enough to know how it goes.

2013 is .... 9 years 😂 it's 2022 how long you gotta be on here for your opinion to count?

When you become a shareholder in the company. The time that you (or I ) have spent here does not give you any stronger or louder voice than anyone else. Your opinion is just that - YOUR opinion.

Do you guys seriously think ZoS is going to implement every suggestion that comes from the player base? PTS is more for bug finding (not fixing) and minor issues. They already have a plan, timeline, and direction in place. If found bugs get fixed before that deadline, great - if not it will still be pushed out on their timeline.

I DO believe that they value the input and look seriously at many of the valid suggestions (some changes have made it into the game over the years), but it's delusional to think that they are going to make MAJOR changes once something goes to the PTS. The PTS is MUCH too far in along in the process to rewrite weeks and months of code. The only time you will see that kind of change is if there is a true game breaking problem.
