Another MMO lost because of bugs

How arrogant you are. You stated YOUR opinion and many people don't agree with you, that makes them brainwashed. I look forward to the day you have to be actually paying for an account monthly to post such utter nonsense.

It seems some still are gaming in "1984".

I fell out with that book purely because of Big Brother.

My wife loves that show and it makes me want to kick puppies.

But Room 101 was funny so something good did come of it.

It's still a strange book though.

Despite his awful tone, OP has some points.

I guarantee there have already been cancelled subscriptions due to bugs and due to ZOE's poor communication with the player base while dealing with those bugs--maybe even a lot of cancellations.

The game does, in many ways, feel rushed. It went live with bugs that went beyond the level of "every game has bugs" and into the level of "how the hell do you release a game in this state?" Some of these have already been fixed. Many have not. (Combat is basic gameplay. I really shouldn't be routinely opening/closing inventory in the middle of a fight to get my character to respond to commands in a game that's out of beta.)

And yet, it also feels carefully, meticulously crafted, thoughtfully written, brilliantly designed.

I play this game for the story. I play this game to be part of this world. I play this game to be this cool character I've created. I play this game to make cool stuff for myself and my friends. I play this game to see parts of Tamriel I've only ever read about. And I do also play it to defeat powerful evil.

This game's future is not nearly as dire as many would claim. But, it's not nearly as secure as many others would claim, either. I want to play this game 24 hours a day, but I also want to throw my hands up and walk away, shouting, "What the hell are you people trying to pull on us here? How could you ever have released this?" The part of me that's entranced with this game is winning by a huge margin, but I really don't want to still be opening and closing my inventory in the middle of fights when I get to the high-end content.

That's an odd bug, MasterSpatula. I've never had the need to open and close my inventory in combat and I've been playing pretty much non-stop since early access. Do you need to do it to make an ability fire?

Yeah, I never encountered that bug. The only bugs I've seen since EA were a couple bosses who would not spawn (fixed by relogging), some books and NPC's that had fallen through the bench/bed that they were supposed to be on, and a couple instances when I fell through the ground. If that's what people are crying "unplayable!" over, people need to chill.

This is by far the cleanest launch of an MMORPG I have ever played. Even in beta, this game rarely crashed under stress tests. The quest bugs are minor and can be worked around by "finding something else to do until they fix it".

Beta testers loved it so much that we thought it was good to go (because we know a little something about MMOs) and were ok with playing the game while ZOE finished the initial polishing.

You'll be waiting along time if you want to play a polished MMO thats ready to go at launch. MMOs have always been something of a work in progress as you play the game.

The 50 percent you are talking about are the kids who think because they started playing WoW after 5 years after it was release, is how all MMOs start out as.

In the old days MMOs could be down for days... Anyone remember EQ's texture update disaster? That was like 3 days of downtime, and the game had been out for years.

OP, while you are entitled to your opinion, it's full of shennanigans..

    Very respectfully,

    Me.

To all the 90% who actually have a free mind: this game is destroyed and rushed and you can clearly see it in everything. From the guild system to pvp and bugged quests.

My bet is that over 50% of the potential player base is already gone.

Sorry ESO I love your world..but not when my abillties lags and the games poor design disencourages me from playing...

Every MMO ever released has had bugs, some far worse than this one. If having bugs meant that a game would fail, there would be no MMO's out there. Every MMO has also been accused, by someone, of being rushed. Games have to have concrete release date and cannot sit in infinite development trying to get them perfect.

Most vetran MMO players realize that bugs are part of the process, especially at release, so your 50% speculation is highly unlikely, especially since most of them are just annoyances rather than anything game breaking.

The game is definitely a bit rough and plenty of people have or will be put off by bugs or odd design decisions, but I don't think ESO is lost, it's just having a rough start.

Have you looked at the upcoming feature list? They're adding some awesome stuff.

Yeah, it only happens to my melee characters, usually. It also happens to my Sorcerer, but ONLY then I have the Storm Calling Ultimate active. If I fire off a heavy attack at an enemy that dies before it fires, she gets stuck shooting lightning out of her hands and won't do anything else.

That's the only way to make it happen I've been able to repeat. But when it happens to my melee characters, I haven't been able to figure out a cause. But I can't use abilities, can't attack or block with the mouse, and can't sprint (I can do normal movement, however). And it happens a lot. A lot.

I filed a ticket on it. It's a known issue. Never seems to make it to any of their upcoming bug-fix lists, though.

This actually happens at times when I use attacks while either in the sequence of transforming into Werewolf form or using the Roar ability.
I agree, it's a bit annoying, especially given the 30 second duration of the Werewolf form, but nothing that'd cause me to unsub.

I'm determined to make that Werewolf build work - if not in this patch, then 1.1.

@ OP: I feel so sad for you, pitiful person, for your own incapability of understanding the world does not revolve around your whims.

You know, I've found a lot of things wrong in the game. My hope is that they continue to fix those things and make the game continue to be fun. I understood that a lot of stuff would need work after it released. Sure, I disagree with a lot of specific decisions (like no marketplace not tied to guilds and only 5 slots to use for abilities), but my hope is that they address those issues soon and make them better. I also understand that they're not catering the game to me specifically, so if those things are bothersome enough, I leave.

I'm kind of on the fence with the game, which means I do enjoy it. The little things can make the difference though (like the two complaints I mentioned before, although the latter (5 slots) is probably the only one that bothers me enough to probably eventually quit. But I would like to think that they're working on making the game the best game it can be, and because of that, I'm willing to give it some time before leaving, and hopefully I don't end up leaving.

But the whole idea that the game is broken, or stupid stuff like that, just insults all of our intelligence.
    Clueless, but willing to learn.

Good grief! OP you really ought to consider unplugging from the net for a while.

Putting polish on a new MMO does not happen overnight or even in the first month. It took WoW months to iron out many of their game breaking bugs and 10 years later the game is still prone to bugs and exploits.

If you have any regrets over your original post, take a good long break and come back to have a look around when you have cleared your head.

I have had a lot a fun with the game and very few bugs which stopped my progress, but I realize everyone's experience is different.

I have encountered very few bugs also. However, those few bugs prevented me progressing on my character for days at a time (and a full week in one case). I do think it's a customer service rather than game design issue though. One can only hope that they mean what they say when they announced that this game was always going to be for a niche market. It will never have mass appeal until the game has been polished.

Ofcourse all games have bugs! Ive been a gamer for 15 years and Ive had my share of weird stuff ive seen..but ESO is by far the most buggy MMO experience Ive seen and it goes way further than the acceptible tolerance.

I dont really care about the fanboy replies in here. Just keep subbing to the turd :) Im talking about the other who actually read the thread and agree and unsub.

I despise F2P games to the core, but this game is...not well made overall speaking and not worth my money any further.
