I'm upset that I'm not getting free stuff... 2 years in a row.

This completely invalidates having DLC access as an ESO+ perk.

You're getting a pet. It also enhances your perk, because you can keep it even without ESO+ access.

I couldn't care less about pets. And I will never play without ESO+.

Free DLC access is supposed to be a perk of ESO+.

Sure, but there's a difference between "nothing was gained" and "what we gained sucked." I did like and will use the perks, and am a subscriber.

That is fine for you but I am beyond disappointed that the value of my subscription is now decreased two years in a row and the only compensation for that is something that is useless to me.

The value of my subscription has increased, so I'm quite happy. I saved myself the crowns I would have spent on Firesong. I like having the dlc when I cancel, so that I only lose the craft bag and free statues.

And those of us who don't buy dlc's separately because they are an ES0+ perk that we are paying for with our subscriptions get nothing.

I buy ESO+ AND the DLC. I am on a year long subscription currently, but have bought month long subs and let them lapse during updates I don't like in the past. Also ESO+ members get the pet. I get a lot of people don't like the pet, but it doesn't stop existing just because it's not popular.

What good does it do me to get a pet I will never even look at, let alone use?

If some players are happy with this then that is good for them but in my opinion they really dropped the ball with their subscribers two years in a row.

I think the CE version of the DLC for ESO+ subscribers would have been awesome.

I can understand not liking it. Honestly, the pet is pretty underwhelming. I just wanted it clear that ESO+ is getting something, because I'm one of the people that do like what we are getting. I use the pets a lot, in decorating or just following me around. And I got saved crowns, thereby increasing the value of my ESO+.

Both liking and not liking what we got are perfectly valid opinions.

It's what I expected the reward to be when I purchased High Isle based on what they did last year.

It's easier to sell Chapters and keep people playing if people think they'll get something later if they keep playing.

This is especially true when the story blatantly stops before the ending.

If people keep playing, they may spend more $ on the Crown Store.

There is a serious difference between wanting more and wanting it to be on par with previous years like summerset. The quality of rewards in the last two years objectively dropped. A dlc is around 2k crowns. Summerset got you an exclusive pet, a mount which would be considered apex level in the crown store, and a house that would run around 8k in the crown store. That's roughly 5x the value. Heck the Amazon prime reward got you a cool mount and pet and you didn't have to even do anything lol. You can't tell me new players wouldn't be pumped about a cool mount when they have access to only super basic ones unless they spend a ton of money.

The gifts are fine -- considering that they already left themselves an out, if they chose not to give us the gifts, at all.
They made it a percentage... but a percentage of what? People who log in, characters that exist, some random number?
And they can change that number at a moment's notice ... we all make it too fast and they want to add drama... freeze it around 98% ..... because that would be 98% of what, exactly?

As far as the gifts .... anything free is nice. I never get anything but 4 or 5 purple gems, whenever I do a twitch crate, and it appears that, due to twitch, and the way it showed things, I might have missed one today. I went in to watch the official stream.... and it kept popping me over to one of the others.... I got my 4 purple gem drop from there, but it would not let me actually watch the official one, and I am hearing that was a separate crate .... oh well, I am either 4 or 5 purple gems lower than I would have been.......

I am usually a subscriber, and while it's nice to be able to have permanent access in case I permanently unsubscribe, would I really need it then? I haven't gone back to Deadlands since I completed the story there.

I don't care about the salamander. I have the original one in my Summerset home but I've never used it as a tagalong pet because I prefer smaller ones.

yeah those meters are not very clear lol

im assuming what they are counting is the # of people who have the pathfinder achievement, but the kicker this year is that each account can only earn this achievement once because of account wide achievements

now to your point they dont give quantities for what the thresholds are and its very likely we will end up hitting 100% before the end of the event even knowing that each account can only contribute to this once

I'd been planning on waiting to buy High Isle until next year's Chapter. I'm contemplating whether or not it's worth it to buy now on sale, since it'll effectively be the same cost, plus the DLC.

Of course, I'm not sure that ZOS' accounting department is happy that my take-away is now: "So, if I wait six months next year, maybe I can get the Chapter and the DLC for $20."

I am not upset about it, but neither am I excited about it.

I look at it this way. Anyone that was upset about High Isle being lack luster can just have the added benefit of a dlc that is free. Anyone who subbed to eso+ gets something exclusive to them.

Also, you can today pick up high isle at a discount and still get the firesong dlc for free.

That said, I do wish the formula were different. That maybe we get something different from last year's run.

Like I said it's meh for me.

I just wish that they would include something for base game users. I feel that would create a lot of good will.

From a pure marketing perspective they probably should have done something like this:

    - Free DLC
    - Exclusive cool mount or house for eso+ subscribers
    - Simultaneously put eso+ 1 month subs for a special rate like $5 or something just during the event.

That way non subscriber get their dlc, eso subs get something cool and zos gets a hole ton of new folks to try out plus. If they decide they they don't want to keep it well they get the dlc, the mount and had a really cheap way to try all the content that the game has to offer.

ESO+ here, on multiple accounts, so there’s no benefit for me. I’ve tried playing without ESO+, but as a crafter, the inventory management is just impossible without it. I hope the other rewards in the final bags within bags are good, though!

Already have ESO+ so would have gotten access regardless, doesn't feel like a perk at all to those that subscribe.

As for the ESO+ exclusive pet, it will sit in my collections, never getting walked, feels rather lousy as an ESO+ exclusive reward during an event.

It's neither a mystery nor is it exciting. It's nice for players that don't sub and can't afford to buy it, but those players are in the minority here. It would have been better to offer this with an actual reward, like a house as they've done in the past. In fact, it doesn't even NEED to be a house exactly. They could just take a plot of land in the new zone area that's just some rolling grassy hills or something, add a fence with an entrance, and give it to us as a house. A plot of land like the coldharbor or sugar meadow or whatever it's called. Easiest thing in the world since they don't need to make anything new here.

So I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt last year, figuring maybe they didn't think through that this is a non-reward for ESO+ members. It wasn't very smart of them, but I could accept it as a good-faith oversight.

They don't have that excuse this time.

My feelings are ambivalent. I was hoping for a home, but only because I feel like we didn't get many new homes this year. I would welcome at least one more new home before the year is out...

When I saw that they were giving out an ESO+ exclusive, I had a feeling it was going to be the dlc again. The ESO+ exclusive probably meant to help ease people who disagreed with last year's grand prize.

It does still feel strange we aren't getting an additional new house for the rest of the year, crown exclusive or not....

lol, just because something doesn't have a dollar amount attached to it doesn't mean it's free, why do so many people get so caught up on this?

As for those people defending the pet as something to behold and appreciate... I got a free pet for running twitch in the background for 15min today (and personally, I think it's a hell of a lot better than the salamander), so please don't try and create value where this is none.

Pet giveaways in ESO are a dime a dozen, most people have more than they will ever use, and that goes double when it's just a low effort reskin.

ZOS had a chance to do something more and give players something they've been asking for - they chose not to do that, and compared to previous years, this offering is objectively left wanting.

I'm not surprised though, this seems to be a recurring trend these days, but I guess all it takes to win many people over is another reskinned pet.

Needless to say, I'm just frustrated (with this and so much more when it comes to ESO and ZOS) - I'm sure there are plenty of people for whom this specific pet will be the cherry on top for their builds, and I'm genuinely happy for them, it's always nice when that happens and I don't want to take away from their enjoyment.

In the end, I just wish the rest of us (those that don't care for the free dlc or pet) had something to be as excited about as well.

I don't understand people saying ESO+ members aren't getting anything. Free DLC might not change their daily experience, but there's a clear difference between having access only while subscribing and permanently unlocking it. I've never interrupted my subscription and I buy all zone DLCs and my favorite dungeon ones, just in case something happens with my plus.

A few days ago my subscription ran out and wasn't renewed because for some reason the bank declined it. I used the very same card to restart the subscription and it worked, making me wonder why in blazes it had been declined in the first place. Had this failed, or required further actions like waiting for a new card to arrive (banks are so nice they sometimes renew your card - and cancel the old one - without telling you), I would've been forced to rely on content I purchased. I feel better knowing I won't be locked out of my favorite zones.

Truth be told, I'm a bit disappointed we're not getting a house this year, though that hourglass from Q4 will be very useful. Anyway, rewards could have been far worse and all I have to do to get free stuff is earn an easy achievement.

I don't understand people saying ESO+ members aren't getting anything.

Because as an ESO+ member, I already have that content - you're placing value on me wanting access to that content should I stop being an ESO+ member. I don't, in fact, I probably wouldn't play ESO at all without ESO+. I don't care to own the DLC, I don't need to own it, I just care that I can access it when I have ESO+.

Part of the value of ESO+ is having access to DLCs without purchasing them, if the new trend is that they are just going to be given away for free... while my ESO+ price remains the same (or goes up), then if anything, I'm losing value there.

That's where the frustration lies, and why this so-called gifting feels like someone paying me back with my own money. Having ZOS or other players tell me that I should be grateful for this, that just adds insult to injury.

For those that who find value in the free DLC, I'm happy for you, no reason not to be - just don't expect everyone to see value in it the same way you do.
