Switching to pc so I can actually play the game…asked Zos to price match base game…big mistake!

Hello and good day to all.

I’ve finally decided after watching console streamers that switched to pc recently…that it’s the only course of action I can take if I truly want to “play the game how I want to play”. Or more honestly how the game is actually intended to play. I’ve been on console (PlayStation) since 2017 and it’s where everyone I know plays eso. Over the years the servers have become so bad that it’s become impossible to play. I mail templars and I used to run dizzy swing builds (stamden stamsorc, stamcro). The past 18 months dizzy swing is more like doesn’t swing. Making that play style impossible on console during prime time. Well anytime really. Templars jabs end up doing a heavy attack with the javelin spear that’s not able to be cancelled by barswap either. Mainly because you just can’t barswap. Heals don’t work. You die at full health and suddenly meteors, snipes, and several other animations hit your dead toons corpse after you’ve been dead for a few seconds. A clear indicator that the lag is what’s causing all these issues. And there is no date yet for console to receive updated servers. We just know it’s happening “soon”. Like many others I’ve spent thousands of dollars on this game over a 6 year period. All of which I am forced to leave behind when I transfer to pc. Again…there just isn’t an option if I want to play the game as it’s intended to be played. And there’s no one to place the blame on but Zenimax.

I recently (9/25/2022) reached out to Zos about matching the price for the Tamrial Standard edition with what online. I even cheesed a bit and asked if I could get some exp scrolls lol. The response I received though left me feeling like I was told to go fly a kite. It was mentioned that “since I want to go play with friends on a different platform I should be willing to pay for the game in full. Let’s be clear. I don’t know anyone on pc. I’m simply trying to transition to a platform where the game works as it’s intended. Well to be fair console is terrible. It’s disgusting that we are expected to just deal with it as we have been with zero dates outlined by Zenimax. Anyways I was also told that Zenimax has never and will never allow accounts to transfer from platform to platform. Well to be clear I never asked for that. Ever. But yes they’ve done it before and yes you can make it happen.

Anyways I just didn’t appreciate after the time and money spent and how I’m being forced to swap platforms and start the grind over to get 16 characters up and running, that in politely being told to “go fly a kite” when asking them to just do me a solid and price match the base game. No bundles. No free crowns. Nothing else. Just a simple request since I’m leaving behind my old account for good.

No, it's never been done before to a populated database. It happened once only for a limited time when the console servers were launched and empty. They can't do it now, or they would be able to run the PTS with both NA and EU players but each time they copy a Live server they have to wipe the PTS first. Moreover, it's strongly suspected that the contractual arrangements between ZOS, Sony and Microsoft preclude one provider from poaching customers from another provider.

I'm on ps4eu and I'm not suffering the same problems that you are, so you have my sincerest sympathies.

However, no-one is forcing you to do anything. You are choosing to keep playing this game in a different format. Kudos for trying to get a discount though, you don't get if you don't ask.

In all seriousness, you're entitled to nothing. ZOS is a buisness and not a charity. If they do this courtesy for you, then there would be an expectation of doing it for everyone else that asks.

No one is forcing you to switch to PC. Your accomplishments and characters on console are still there, cause no one has taken that away. If you were willing to level up 16 characters and spend money on the game, then clearly the console experience was sufficient enough for you at the time.

ZOS has introduced a lot of quality of life features into the game (transmutation, smart loot, daily rewards, sticker book, etc.). If you want to switch, then make the switch, but don't expect to get any freebies for your time spent on console.

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

PC, stadia, and Mac all share the same servers and player databases, so your experience is expected. Unfortunately for the OP, stadia is not going to help bring anything from the PS4/5 servers to PC.

why don't you wait till the Heroes of High Isle event (next week), if you haven't already bought it. They usually have steep discounts during these chapter events?

I know where your coming from regarding eso on ps4, I had similar issues, the "silhouette people", the bar swap malfunctions, pressing keypad buttons, and nothing happening, that's why I migrated over to xbox.
It still had issues, wasnt perfect, but was more tolerable than my experience on ps4, it just loaded things at a snails pace, which was a trade off I was more than willing to make-"This may be an unusually long load time" was my base xbox's mantra, luckily I scored an series X, so I rarely ever see those anymore.

A lot of it is PS4 is just old. A ton of my problems cleared up instantly the second I got a PS5. I knew it would make a sizable difference, but it still surprised me. I've gotten basically instant teleports to same zone shrines, to the point where my brain lagged behind the loading in, and it took me a second to realize I was already there.

Anyway, no you're not entitled to anything just because you're choosing to swap platforms. If you want a discount, the High Isle edition will be half off soon anyway. Then you can get all the chapters for cheaper.

why would you ask customer support a retailer's question?
It's not like switching cable companies or phone carriers
What you did is like asking General Electric customer support for a discount on your next refrigerator if you switch from using Frigidaire, using mostly an identical model, with an ice maker and water purifier thrown in (not to mention the fact that support is potentially outsourced and you are asking for something they have no control over). The only difference is that there's no physical product. If the game was brand new and a merger didn't occur then I'd see a case for wanting mom and pop shop treatment, but if they make an exception for you they have to do it for everyone.
You also used the entertainment system of Microsoft's main competitor, Sony, so those 6k dollars you spent- microsoft probably saw very little of it (whatever ZOS's cut is) and Sony got more.

Just purely thinking from the perspective of what ZOS customer service would have to go through thinking, I'm pretty sure their response to you was well thought out and went through a supervisor's desk. The base game goes on sale periodically, with the last sale being in August I believe the base game was $7.

As a paying customer you deserve a working product. If they can not provide that on your platform (playstation) after they took your money, you should get your money back, or at least be allowed to keep playing on another platform. With all the chars you leveled, and all the stuff you farmed. You already payed for the product, so why would you pay again and lose all your progress? Gamers and the video game industry should not forget where the money comes from and who pays for it all. Courts and laws might not be up to date yet, but i am pretty sure this "we write our own laws and can do whatever we want"- mentality will not work forever.

The product does work on PS4. It's got a lot of players who play the game. Could it work better? Sure. But it's definitely a functional product. It's not so broken ps4 players should be compensated when they choose to play on a different system. I say that as a (eta: former) PS4 user. PC users also complain about performance drops in Cyrodiil.

Not sure what sort of support you’re hoping to find here, but uh…you’re not really entitled to any sort of “price matching” and they certainly haven’t offered any platform transfer incentives ever. You wanted services that don’t exist, and we’re told they don’t exist. Story end.

This is accurate in that they have never transferred to a populated database which is very different than a transfer to one that is not live.

They are also correct that there is likely a reason why Zenimax will not provide transfers and a contractual agreement is a likely block. Zenimax will not mention such a reason because it is not a good business practice to discuss such matters.

As someone that started over on PC after having 1400CP, one of every class fully leveled, a master crafter and spent a ton of money on crown purchases for PS I feel you OP.
I totally can understand ZOS not being able to copy an account with all of the characters and inventory 1 for 1 from one platform to another. However I do believe that things you spend cash on, such as crown store mounts and houses should be able to be available across different platforms.
Like I should be able to link my PS account and PC accounts so that my Hundings Palace and all the expensive housing decorations I've bought are owned on both. Not that it would copy over the details of decorating from one instance to another but would simply have access to them on either by showing as owned on both platforms.

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

Heals don’t work. You die at full health and suddenly meteors, snipes, and several other animations hit your dead toons corpse after you’ve been dead for a few seconds. A clear indicator that the lag is what’s causing all these issues.

This will happen on PC as well, regardless how much computing power you throw at it. It's a bad coded game after all ...

It is not the console that is the source of your problems and if you think that swapping to pc will fix them then you will be disappointed.

Add ons can only do so much and they function only so long as mod authors continue support for them.

As for the cost of the game. Well you can find keys for the base game for sale pretty cheap. Less than $10 usd.

If the reason why you're switching platforms is to play the game how you want to play it.. I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed. I've been a PC player since beta... Let me tell you that you will still play the game the way ZOS tells you to play, not yourself. For every Nerf, ZOS will make you regrind gear or make you switch classes.. even make you change your rotation. You're not completely free to make your own decisions for as long as ZOS keeps releasing horrible patches.

Let's say there is a new sportscar on the market, and people buy it because the company used to sell good cars in the past. You can not really buy the car, you can only lease it and will never really be able to own it. The car looks beautiful from the outside, the interior smells nice and it sounds great. It feels great when you drive around in the city. But when you push it on a racetrack the steering wheel does not respond, the breaks do not work, and the engine dies. The car company tells you that they are working on a fix, but you will have to be patient. For years. So you keep paying the bills and drive around with your beautiful sportscar, because it just looks and feels so nice, as long as you do not drive faster than 60 miles per hour. And you can not drive on rushhour, because the car breaks down when there is too much traffic.

Who decides what "it works fine" means?

I could increase performance on the old xbox one x drastically by attaching a SSD drive and moving the game there. Don't know if PS4 offers this option, too. If yes, you should try.

Player textures and landscapes load almost instantly now, no more black silhouettes, except since the last update, so I assume this is a temporary bug.

There still is lag and skills not firing in cyro, but it is not permanent, sometimes yes, sometimes no. Overland and normal dungeons are fine, since they fixed several bugs like heavy staff attacks not firing in delves when Elsweyr was released.

In PVP, worst are crashes when you attack a keep, happens every second time or more often, so you don't get the capture bonus. One of the reasons I skip Cyro until the servercode and hardware update next year.

OP, if you're not in a hurry to transfer wait for a sale, and in the meantime you could also try your luck maybe with contests for the High Isle chapter in social media and streams, because these contain the base game too.

The company you get the car from will decide what is "fine" and there will be their own definition of what "fine" is in their terms and conditions of the contract you sign.

Did the car come with a warranty that states if it starts underperforming you are entitled to compensation?

OP isn't trying to simply put their car on a boat so they can drive it in another country. They're buying a new model and is complaining that they can't buy it for the same price as the other model.

Anyway, I'm tired of the weak analogy. OP has fallen into the Sunk Cost Fallacy. Like Joshua said "The only winning move is not to play"

Dude I think you have no clue.....
On Ps4 you can't see certain enemy aoes, in some trials adds take a while to load and are not there, then you get freezes for up to 5 seconds... You can't see Bosses when you go through doors. Cyrodiil is absolutely unplayable during primetime, you are maybe at 10 fps?

Even on ps5 the newer trials eat away your fps.
The performance of an old game like this is laughable and in my opinion everyone should be compensated for the huge amount of bugs.

It's not only a disappointment but an atrocity...
Skills don't fire, having to push your buttons multiple times until your ulti fires.
Hitboxes of the enemies are ultra buggy. You have to look at the ground to fire some abilities at all.

Barswap lags.... Server performance is laughable..

I got many trifectas in this game and have a ton of experience and I can only say that people who say everything is fine are just roleplayers or casuals that do questing, overworld content and maybe normal dungeons.
