I wanted to play as a basic Imperial Soldier, just the nameless, faceless rank and file type without some flashy name or title. To that effect my main character's name is "An Imperial Legionary", a heavy Imperial armor wearer with one hander and shield.
Vienne (Lothaire) - Breton Sorcerer - DC
I wanted a name for her that started with a "V", no idea why just thought that letter seemed fitting. Browsed USEP for traditional Breton names and found that I liked "Vienne" best out of all the V names.
Lucked out more than I thought as "Vienne" is diminutive of "Vivienne", a French name that means "alive" and seeing as her primary tree is Daedric summoning... winkwink

I wanted to play an argonian caster, someone quiet and instrospective. (I'm a roleplayer in RL so out of habit I always make up a quick outline in my head, personality and goals while making a char). So I named her Still waters. Seemed fitting. Made her harmless looking, small, blueish with no horns.
A few days layer while exploring stonefalls with her I stumble into....
Still-water's camp *facepalm*
I was shocked!! Apparently this argonian already exists and has a storyline! Its a complete coincidence, how crazy is that. Perhaps I somehow remembered it from beta but I don't recall visiting stonefalls then. I've been playing her since day 1 but every day I get tempted to reroll her just because of that. Feels like I just copied that story NPC. So now I regret the name.
But it is rather funny to have people ask in zone where the anchor is, and answering seriously
<Still waters> just west of my camp.
I have another argonian called simply Liyo because that's the name and race I've played in ES since their very first title arena. She's in the DC because well I wanted to try all of the alliances. I play her with my husband mostly, who's a khajiit. That way neither or our races technically belong there. We argue like the odd couple that we are (your fur stinks when wet! Oh yeah well your earring looks stupid!)and just generally have fun. Full disclosure: I met my husband in EQ1. He was playing a cat and I was a, yep, lizard. Our chars hated each other and bickered constantly. We eventually met in RL and ... got married So we made these chars to relive those days a bit.
I have a bosmer called Lioslinn in the EP faction, who defected for rp reasons that I won't bore you with here
Also have a dunmer called Ricus Noscere. A young academic from a noble family and feels entitled to everything but is bitter with how his life turned out. Pretty usual dark elf background ricus just sounded dunmer like and noscere is Latin for knowledge.
I have another argonian named ifrinn, which is Gaelic for hell. She's a darker inclined summoner who will go to any lengths to secure her peoples place in the world. Intelligent, xenophobic and arrogant. Not very argonian sounding but meh. I love playing summoners.
I like playing lizards because after 20+ years of tabletop rp of elves dwarves etc one craves some originality =p
I have 3 more chars with Gaelic or mythology inspired names , high elf, nord and orc that I haven't really developed yet.
All of my chars are female as I am except the dunmer heh
Thete. The second character I made when playing AD&D which has stuck through other RPG games where I'm able to determine the names of characters. Been going for about 25 years now.
Got TESO about a week after launch and have been experimenting with characters. I have five characters ranged in level from 5 to 12 currently and have not settled for a 'main' yet!
The names? Well ... I try to have a bit of fun with names in any game where I can choose the character name. The current gang is made up of;
Mieeta Aklet; The two words a deliberately spelled wrong but when translated they are a reference to the town I grew up in. (Wood Elf - Nightblade).
Brewen Muchale; The word 'brewen' is an archaic version of 'brewer' - a brewer of ale. Geddit? (This name is used by me in several other games). (Imperial - Nightblade).
Earan Thar. Silly but it simply translates to 'Here and there'. A mate of mine read it as 'He ran there'. (Dark Elf - Sorcerer)
Knows No Fear; No real explanation other than I was trying to get into naming in a similar way to how NPCs are named. (Argonian - Dragonknight).
Ghree'boh; Re hashed spelling / sounding of a rather famous cat in honor of my favorite author. (Khajiit - Nightblade)*.
So! There we have my current crop.
*Oh! Go on! Give yourself a gold star for knowing the author!

Jar'eed: Khajiit DK, I thought Jared sounded like a down to earth name for a knight, added an apostrophe for the Khajiit effect.
Broad-Tail: Argonian Templar, because he is Argonian.
Number Twelve: Breton Sorc, because this one is my experiment.
Valoran Sentinel: Dunmer NB, inspried by the house from Morrowind.
Carto Grapher: Mule alt for my maps and motifs
Mckitten: My girlfriends Khajiit lol.

My Khajiit Templar is called Mwwwrr, because it's a cat sound.
My Dunmer DK is called Relkin, a Dragonboy from a Sword for a Dragon
My Altmer Sorceror is called Thrembode, an evil wizard from A Sword for a Dragon.
My Argonian Nightblade is called Mwelret, after the Mellrets in the Shannara books.

My main, nord templar healer is called Kaia Linnea. I have used Kaia in many games I've played but someone had robbed it off of me even tho I logged in 5 day early access before it should've even started >.< (early access was early whooop). Linnea is a very old Finnish girl name, and I tend to like those for the looks and for the reason that I am finnish and usually always play female characters
My favorite alt, high elf sorc dps/healer is called Ruusu. Again it's a Finnish girl name but also means 'rose' in English.
