*Thousands of hours on my main Templar. (Don't know how to play now)Question for the Devs?!

I don't know what to spam on my Templar, i can't enjoy the class like before. After playing this game for a decade on the same class.
The problem:
Nobody knows how to play the Templar with joy and fun.

1. Why is the animation changed on the jabs?
2. What do we spam on our main Templars?
3. How can we enjoy the class after u35?
4. How do we procceed from this?

    for 1. according to the devs in the patch notes the animation was changed due to the timing (duration of .8 sec instead 1 sec)

    now, why they used a specific spear model instead of their old light spear, i have no idea, and it didnt seem to be necessary to do that

    for 2. i still use jabs as the main spammable on my templar and his overall effectiveness hasnt changed at all, with absolutely 0 build changes

    3. i still enjoy the class, and its still my highest dps character lol

    After the changes I took my Templar out and about doing some world bosses. Took a couple of days to start getting to a new rotation.
    I like the animation change. When doing trials it is easy to see the animation when the group is stacked. Makes timing my new rotation easier.
    I'm still having fun with my Templar. All those posts before the changes dropped saying Templars would be banned from joining vet trials have in my experience been wrong.

    My answer to 4: For now I've shelved my magplar dps and changed to magblade. My stamplar I'm changing over to a tank. No change to my healer.

    Does anyone truly want expect the devs to answer these question? Anything they had to say has already been said, in all likelihood.

    I was expecting the worst but ended up noticing very little difference. If anything you just spam jabs even more lol.

    My DK on the other hand, I dunno what I'm supposed to do. We're all about sticky dots and they're a joke now.

    You're in the minority. I'm right there with you by the way. I don't get the people are saying this class is unplayable now or that they can't enjoy the class now. I get people hate change but some people are being pretty extreme on this.

    It shows a lot of people only played Templar so they could 1 button kill everything - not a healthy attitude.

    Z has been hating on Templar since the beginning, just like DK. They almost got it down to the ground where they want it. A few more updates to go.

    That doesn't make sense at all, that's like saying you chop 4 of the 5 fingers from someone's hand. And then you say the amount of outcry you have means how useful your fingers are.

    Yeah you can life with one finger if you don't know better, but if you used to your whole hand then it will become really upsetting.

    Agreed on all points, OP. I have no joy whatsoever in the class right now, after over 8k hours playing Templars in all roles. I prefer them in werewolf form right now as dds so I'm not assaulted by the hideous new jabs "animation", if I have to play one.

    I think we can all agree that the jabs are unplayable compared to the one before. Not because the damage, it's because the lack of joy with the skill itself and the animation that comes with it.
    I don't care if you dissagree i see what i see, the majority of MAIN Templars are struggling enjoying the game and probably switching or leaving. [Snip].

    People acting like having a lot of damage on just one skill is bad lol. If you want to reach 100k+ you're still going to need other skills other than jabs, it was an accessible class available for everyone that wanted that playstyle, if you don't want it, don't use it but I'm seeing so much gaslighting here.

    Psijic spammable is a completely different thing, it's ranged and it doesn't work correctly under high latency or lag spikes. Not a replacement for melee magicka builds.

    Vampire spammable is the single worst spammable skill in this game, and part of THE most hated and ruined skill line overall. Single target, absolutely pathetic damage for its range and no additional effects at all. And it has a really weak, unfun animation compared to the skills used by NPC vampires. Vampire fans complained about all this stuff ever since Greymoor patch went up on PTS, and it only got worse since.

    Weapon skills? Why even play any specific class then? Also stamina players have 2H, DW and bow to choose from while mag players are stuck with the same staves and no alternatives.

    Silver shards? Another stamina skill and it has to be picked over the other morph which provides one of a kind pulling utility. It's not exclusively a tank thing, people use it while farming experience in group arenas.

    Its not really due to its power.
    This skill was widely popular among templars even when the class was literal trash tier.
    I love spears in any game and jabs with spear made out light is like the ultimate spear wielding paladin fantasy.
    I suspect most people feel the same.

    First, you don't speak for all templar players. I see a absolute ton of templar players both new and old who use the crap out of jabs still and it performs well. I had a 4 man templar group the other day and we cleared a boss so fast it didn't even get to do a single mechanic.

    Also, you can't be like I think we all can agree then turn around and say i don't care if you disagree with my opinion. [Snip]. And the fact that this change to one skill makes this beloved class of yours unplayable really shows it not the class you enjoyed [Snip].

    Very true. Before the update I was even starting to get a little bored of my templars, because the jabs were so powerful (especially the Puncturing sweeps with its heal). It was like I had only two skills worth using, the jabs and Reflective Light. Now that the former is on par with most other skills, I find I'm getting more versatile. Now that I'm using more weapon skills and saving the jabs to a situation where I need to do both damage and heal, I seem to have more fun. I actually have to think about what other skills to choose, and the templar's proper healing skills get more use. No idea if my templar DPS is now better or worse, but at least they're good enough to solo many normal dungeons without changing anything but a skill or two.

    The new jab animation is another story. It looks quite comical, and I preferred the original.

    It means a great deal to every player that mainly plays templar. Templar is now the weakest class by a long shot, all due to a single update.

    Not true. They also nerfed the other main skills templars use, all in a single update. They didn't just nerf jabs. They nerfed the majority of the dps skills templars use.

    In PvP, especially with the added insult of Maras Balm, Templar as anything but a ranged executioner, is a joke.
