With all fake tanks, fake healers,
3 cp2k and one cp150 in vet random dungeon...
and people who want to rush, when other are lost behind
and people in vet DLC dungeon who have no idea about mechs
and people who want HM for key when other are rushing last boss...

omg is it only me or this event is really turning into disappointment and frustration ?

I'm not sure the event is a disappointment so much as random groups are a disappointment for you.

I've been having a great time with the event running with friends or even solo. My thought is the event itself is fine, but it might be serving to highlight a larger overall issue with the queue or random groups.

    Favorite Foods and Potions

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Embrace the event. People are using it to farm stickerbook (double weapon drops), farm Opal pages ($$$), and get event tickets. Throw on False God/VO for some speed and just go.

Its a week long, and NOTHING is going to change. They will do it again next year. If you don't like group finder, well, the answer is always the same. Form your own group.

I have actually had a great run so far. This is my second favorite event behind MYM. I have been using my Hybrid DPS/tank (he taunts and debuffs). I have been filling my stickerbook on a few of the better DPS sets, even found people from group finder to farm with as many were ready to queue again. Got about 15 opal pages and a bunch of keys, whats not to like?

Join a guild is not the only answer.

For some of us, it is the best answer for vet dungeons. I did several non-DLC normal PUG on baby alts yesterday with no issues. I did a veteran dungeon yesterday with guild mates and no issues. Works for me ...

It’s not the event, it’s the dungeon system. Group dungeons in this game drive conflicting behaviors by offering rewards for different styles of play. Randoms offer transmutes, which encourages people to sprint through and cram as many runs into their day as possible. Veteran Hardmode gets better pledge rewards, but is a pain if the group is unprepared. Secret bosses cut the number of mandatory boss fights in half, but also cut your loot in half unless your group wants to spend the time getting to them. And the group finder has a wonderful way of bringing people with conflicting goals together.

I’ve been loving this event, but I’m also playing exclusively with my partner, and we have the shared goals of gathering skill points on our secondary characters and filling our sticker books. Everything else is a bonus.

People queue vet dungeons without knowing mechanics outside of the event too. Pugging vet is like that meme where the guy puts a stick in his own bike tire then blames anyone but himself for crashing. If you need a guild on PC I got a dungeon guild that does vet challenge modes & achievements and lots are farming the event, pm me.

I'm not running vet dungeons precisely because I know nothing about the mechanics and I know that will frustrate whoever I'm running with. Most of my play time is spent in Cyrodiil.

And I'm not in a guild so running a vet dungeon while taking time to learn it is out of the question.

I don't see the problem with a low cp person in a vet dungeon as cp does not necessarily mean skill. A 2k cp person could've gotten their cp PvPing while a cp 150 could be purely leveling through dungeons. I know it means they won't have the cp for max gear but that may be their way of leveling.

But in my case, event was nice. I got lot of gear collection and motif, because of event extra drop.

The event seems to be more geared towards doing as many dungeons as fast as possible. Once I got into that I started really enjoying it.

Check out my thread on speed caps in my sig. They arent going faster than they have in the past, but its definitely easier than it used to be to get to top speed. Things Like Celerity in the red CP, Steeds Blessing in the green CP, generally more medium armor on DPS, Generally larger stam pools with people running sugar skulls, and sets like FG and VO make it pretty easy to get close to the speed cap between pulls.

All it really takes is Sprint, Major Expedition (VO or FG), Celerity and Steeds Blessing, and you are capped out of combat. Because FG and VO give ME on kills, it generally means that between pulls you are speed capped.

Now to be clear, I think it is generally poor form to just sprint to the end of the dungeon and leave everything alive in your wake, but I dont find that to nearly as prevelant as the forums suggest. I do, however, think its wise to build your self to keep up with a group that is on the move.

It's normal to have a huge range of leveled players. Last one I did (I'm at 1500+) had a level 11 player. Count your blessings as you won't get LONG DLC dungeons ;) Help um out where you can, be patient with the questers, and be ready to slot a taunt and self heal.

Because super long queue times are bad for business, as are high failure rates of group finder dungeons. Say what you want about GF, I have yet to fail a random normal, nor have any of the low CP players I have carried along for the ride.

I made a new character on Tuesday and used the 24/7 dungeon queue pops to level to from 10 to 50 as a healer.

As I always tell people, ADEPT RIDER is the best set for levelling. You can tell me all about continuous attack once it's given without having to pvp (I did a BG at 50 to get it but it's still not necessary while levelling thanks to ADEPT RIDER).

You keep up with all of those sprinters and get to benefit from the boxes available without feeling slow thanks to ADEPT RIDER.

ADEPT RIDER. best levelling set (because speed is good). (Also I levelled my skills during this and had 1 of each class skill, plus 1 resto and 1 destro skill on each bar so when I hit 50 I was 45+ on each class skill and those 2 weapons).

I've been doing the event by soloing dungeons, usually only 1 or 2 a day rather than grinding. Soloing lets me go at my own pace, although many dungeons have mechanics that keep me from soloing them; in general, I can't solo DLC and version II dungeons because of mechanics. It's a bit frustrating to make it partway through a dungeon I've never attempted before, only to end up having to abandon the dungeon quest and Undaunted pledge because of the mechanics on a boss, but the bright side is that I can often get at least a few pieces from the dungeon's sets before having to give up on it, not to mention getting familiar with everything that comes before the unsoloable boss.

I play on two servers, and do other things in the game each day-- daily crafting writs, daily Tales of Tribute NPC matches, daily and weekly endeavors, and often things like world boss dailies or zone questlines I might be playing through-- so I don't have enough time to grind a lot of dungeons on a single character. My priority is getting the 2 tickets and golden event box on both servers each day, plus Bolgrul's daily for a purple event box, and if I have time then I'll do another dungeon or two.

I hit "screw this, I'll just run solo" point last night. It's not a bad way to level companions.

I’ve been having an amazing time overall. This has been my favorite event in years. Sure, I’ve been in some really awful groups, but I’ve also been in some amazing new groups as well. This weekend I got two vDLC hard modes that I had not before, and both were with pug groups. Of course, the loot drops have been nice too.

I've been wondering if soloing dungeons puts an extra strain on the servers as far as having a lot of individual instances to manage, so I suspect that grouping with 3 other players is definitely preferred by ZOS on that account.

But I worry that I'm too inexperienced with specific dungeons, as well as too "weak" as far as DPS, to run most dungeons with an average group. Plus, when I do run a dungeon with a group it often turns into a situation where I'm running blindly through an unfamiliar dungeon just trying to find, and keep up with, the group. Rather than feeling like I'm going to be dragging down the other players, I'd rather just solo the dungeons I know I can handle (on normal), and attempt an unfamiliar one every so often to see if I can add it to my list of the ones I can solo.

This community (i.e. the forums) seem to go very hard all in on justifying fake tanks and healers. Apparently it’s ok to fake tank and heal because some other players dps is low? I don’t get it myself.

Anyway, I have been avoiding this event because I knew it was going to be awful. I even made a lowbie tank particularly for events like this, but this time I have not bothered loading into him.
Luckily there is really nothing at the event vendors I want (that costume is terrible). So this whole event period feels a bit like I dodged a bullet.

OP, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you have strong nerves and last this one week.
There is nothing that can be done, then wait till end. Fungal Grotto I runers will leave then and all will be like before.
You can only adapt, suffer or ignore.
    PvP - Recruit.
    PvE - Dragon food
RPG - A guy who thought, that he can defeat daedric prince, yet guards still chase him off when he accidentally touches some object during daily writs.

For my experience, in this event the sprinting has been worse. The issue for me isn't the speed, it is the lack of control which ends up in a slower run. I have run with tanks who actually tanked where they collect half the dungeon, park them in a corner and we AoE it down in seconds. That's a speed run.

What I have been seeing in this event is one person taking off, usually before all 4 even load, and the trash mobs go everywhere. Then the sprinter stops in the middle of a large room so the ranged trash is spread out so the AoE is hitting a limited number of people and the melee trash are on the DPS and healer. About half the time, the sprinter doesn't even control the boss even if they appeared to be a real tank.

That doesn't speed anything up. Its just a sloppy run which ends up being slower.

I think the fastest Fungal run so far this event was a methodically one with three players, two of which were under level 25. That's the frustrating part - the chaotic sprinting does the opposite of their goal. Just makes a mess.

Update: Of course after I type this ^ I get a Fungal 1 run that was good. But the sprinter drug everything to the door so they piled up for us. That small difference cut a lot of time off the other sprint runs.

There is definitely a fine line between Speed Runs and flat out Sloppy Runs. The second the try hard at the beginning of the group wipes, you have lost time. I support going fast, I dont support racing ahead and leaving a trail of adds in your wake. The fastest runs typically involve, pulling all trash to just before the boss, killing the trash, then killing the boss, then repeat for the next boss.

I also generally dont object to skipping trash than can be skipped without aggro'ing, but once you pull aggro, trash should be killed as efficiently as possible.

I'm not happy with the people who queue random vet dungeon who leave on dread cellar, coral aerie, graven deep, earthen root enclave, etc. as soon as they get in and am adding them to my ignore list.

These are not the people I want to queue with and have to find replacements for, there should be some system in place to punish leaves just as there is with any other game.

and people in vet DLC dungeon who have no idea about mechs
and people who want HM for key when other are rushing last boss...

omg is it only me or this event is really turning into disappointment and frustration ?

I set dps yesterday I went in and but put the tank explain to me what happened and already the third time it happens to me
