TESTERS BEGGED ZOS NOT TO RELEASE U35 because of the damage it does to the game.
After release ZOS now gets the casual end customer experience. What more do they need?

But it is getting smaller. I don’t know if you consider this a good development, as different folks remain in the community… but it is definitely not growing the last couple of weeks.
I would call this a negative trajectory and with ZoS now showing us the middle finger as well when it comes to the promised Q&A on U35, I don’t see that changing soon.
Had to put this huge title on this.
I’m a casual. Hello. Devs. IM A CASUAL. I’m not a top tier raider. Or PVMER. Played this game since day 1 though. I always get crown crates and homes. And purchase tons of crown store items. While I also enjoy the game casually. Anytime I want
I watch content creators for advice on builds. And I have actually done a few high end raids. But very casually.
I did them just fine btw.
This patch. Is a literal nightmare. A literal nightmare to this game. I will no longer spend another single dime until this situation is fixed .
I have to put this $ amount on my post for posterity because people …. IT IS RELEVANT.

Newsflash, you are not a casual. Casual players rarely leave overland. They do not PvP, they do not run Dungeons, and they certainly do not run Trials. You may consider yourself casual but you are not, you are a mid to high tier player.

That is really open to debate. I ran into a guy in a dungeon yesterday who is a casual player. Plays a few hrs a week doesn't run a ton of dungeons and every few weeks runs a normal trial and he said he did a little pvp during the last event but it's pretty rare. Has decent DPS, probably not breaking 60k based on the but mostly does overland. That's causal. Mid tier is me. I break 70k play trials regularly but am not attempting trifectas or anything. Probably do about 8hrs a week. Hardcore is 80k+, progging and doing hard content with 10-15+ hrs a week.

60k is not casual. Mid-tier is more than a few k before you can prog. Casual players don't do dlc dungeons or only do them with great complaint, most skip trials, and they generally aren't pulling more than 25k DPS. The majority of the playerbase are doing around 5k-15k damage. We know that because the specific reason cited as to why companions couldn't do more than that was that they would have out damaged a lot of the playerbase. And devs didn't want them replacing players in dungeons due to that. Most players prefer the story of this game but mid-tier players are also participating in trials and dungeons. Generally speaking the players doing trials and dungeons are also going to also hit 25k+ if they are a DPS. Because they'll actually bother to do stuff like get sets to make the trials and dungeons easier.

No it isn't. Plenty of folks been playing casually for years have 50k-60k dps. You are talking about stereotypes, people that exclusively quest and brand new players. That's one subset of a massive placer base. When I started in month 1 I had about 25k. Second month I ran about 45k and I hadn't done a single trial at this point or any dlc dungeons. I had a social guild that had one target dummy and I wanted to see where I was at because I wanted to try a normal solo arena.

That's just one opinion though, out of many - there's no hard and fast definition of what a casual player is (not that I'm aware of anyway), so what's the point of debating it, everyone is going to have their own opinion... and honestly, in the end, does it matter?
I wonder what the dev's definition of a casual is over at ZOS... that may be the only definition that's really relevant.

Practicing on a dummy so that you can hit larger numbers for arenas is by it's not casual activity. You're defining it by time spent, but I'm defining it by the types of activities and practice someone is willing to put in.

Spent over $5,000 on this game
I’m a casual. Hello. Devs. IM A CASUAL.
I am also a (minor) whale. Not a Blue, maybe a Pilot Whale. But I ALSO do content and my little friends group were progressing along with the vet dungeons and were at another DPS standstill. I'm also 60 years old and not a twitch gamer any more. The Oakensoul Ring allowed me to up my game from 35k sustained to 45. First time I'd been able to break 40 sustained. I felt like I was finally "adequate" for some of the upper mid level content. This patch has me sitting right back at "mediocre" and has made any further progression for our group unthinkable.
I am gutted, mentally as well as in game. I feel no need to spend money again myself. My reward for being a long time player has been a kick in the teeth.
Feels bad man.
Yeeeeaaah, except they aren't doing it every now and then. They do it practically every patch. Which is four times a year, every three months. People are getting tired and more tired of having their builds either nerfed or changed to a substantial degree four times a year. It isn't necessary in the slightest to change things so frequently, and while I don't play any other MMOs, from what I've seen people say, they don't change or "shake up" stuff as often as ZOS does.psychotrip wrote: »What part of the patch did you not like? TBH your post has no relevant feedback besides your dislike for the patch.
You've perfectly explained why this patch is bad for casuals. Why should they have to do any of this as often as ZOS is making them?
Because this game has always been about horizontal progression. ZOS will inevitably shake the proverbial snow globe every now and then with a patch that nerfs/changes aspects of gameplay.
