I LOVE U35, thanks devs! - Solo player, no PvP, no Veteran.

- Xbox Player. I use Oakensoul Ring because I have issues with the nerves of my arms and hands.
- I play since 2017, doing Overland World Bosses, World Events and Group Dungeons all in Solo at Normal difficulty (and quests).

THANK YOU DEVS because I AM LOVING the game as it is right now FOR ME specifically.
The reason is simple: in my experience I can see all your promises kept in a weird an unexplainable way to me.
YOU ACHIEVED to let me put my eyes on the game while in combat instead of being constantly watching timers.
YOU ACHIEVED to making me clear harder content with more ease.

I've cleared all WB and GD of the base game Solo before U35.
Reading comments on the forum I was scared this update would have killed my experience.
Now I've tried what I considered the most difficult combat: Valeguard Tower WB. I was able to clear it solo before but with much sweat and pain. Now it is a breeze!

The Sustain right now is MUCH BETTER with the reduced costs of abilities and longer durations.
I don't have to go crazy trying to weave on a gamepad trigger, I can spam Empowered Heavy Attacks, which is lovely for accessibility and my nerves!

I love ESO for it's content but in my condition I don't want to be forced to be a "precise, fast, thousand buttons presser"; I prefer a relaxed way of playing, even in combat, and that's why I've made a very particular build, totally NOT META but that enables me to survive and clear content with ease.
Maybe it's just for my build but I am thankfull to the devs for making this possible. I can't explain how they made it, but to me they are geniuses because on paper this was a massive nerf of an update, but somehow THEY MANAGED TO MAKE ME ENJOY MORE THE GAME MAKING IT TRULY ACCESSIBLE.

Yes, my parses are worse. Yes, I do less damage. And yes, it takes more time to clear enemies.
FG1 run has extended from 5 to 7 minutes,
DC1 run has extended from 7 to 9 minutes.
BUT! I personally don't care if it takes more time if I can finally feel more immersed, feel that I'm fighting and living the game and not only watching timers...

I admit that I just get my Transmute Crystals and drop PvP. I admit that I avoid Trials and Veteran modes.
I can't talk about that and probably it's a mess there... But for what I can see, to me THE FLOOR HAS BEEN RAISED SINCE THE CONTENT IS REALLY EASIER TO CLEAR, even if my avg DPS has dropped from 20K to 15K (I estimate, no add-ons on console).

Can't understand how Oakensoul being nerfed got me more powerful but - Thank you :)

Just one note for you, devs: I would have preferred if you had explained clearly how U35 would have upgraded my experience, instead of having to rely on Forum pages of catastrophic feedback. Better communication is needed, and also: I BEG YOU TO NOT BREAK the game next patch or so; constant changes are a burden...

P.s. I guess I'll be hated, that's why I solo with NPC companions.
Sorry for the caps btw, but I don't know if devs have time to read everything... I would hope they have. Hope they fix Empower drop on death to Oakensoul too...

Awesome man! I'm also digging the longer buff timers. Makes it so I'm not swapping bars ever 2 seconds. I honestly have no problem with U35. Glad to see that it's really not the end of the world like some people have been exclaiming :) maybe it's not all bad? Who knows. Happy for you tho man!

:D thanks Arbit, nice to hear I'm not the only one enjoying it. Gives me hope that maybe, and I say maybe, there are some more people like me in Tamriel - what if they are even an unspoken majority :o
what a nightmare would be uh? :p

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

The change in dots arent the problem for me,
The problem is the huge decrease in damage from nerfs. Most nerfs were completely unnecessary. The changes to Templar were the worst. Sorc was destroyed as well. Warden is the only class that either came out unscathed or buffed. The LA changes arent the worst thing in the world, although i still disagree with them. 95% of the changes from U35 were either redundant or counter-productive in my opinion.

How can that be? @Cobble123 did not negate the experience of the player. No did s/he devalue the experience the player had. I don't see schadenfreude. According to Merriam-Webster, Schadenfreude "[...] means joy over some harm or misfortune suffered by another".

I don't see that in the post.

Cobble probably is as unhappy with the changes since U35 as me and couldn't hold back posting something snarky. But we now shouldn't try to interpret something into his/her words, which simply isn't there.

    To the topic:
Happy for OP that the game is (more) enjoyable. ESO has the potential to cater to a lot of different playstiles. The more people enjoy ESO, the more likely it is that it will remain around for quite some time, which also theoretically positively impacts me.

Why theoretically? As my amateur trial group is heavily affected by the changes of U35, I dislike it so much that I canceled ESO+. We yesterday, after days of trying, have finally managed to clear vet Rockgrove with so, so, so many wipes as healing *** and DPS is ***, that the Ash Titan was having a field day with us.

Considering phases of change acceptance, I am currently in the phase of acceptance. Not so much of the changes itself, as ZoS still has proven to me that they do not play their own game (fingerpoint to statement of a ZoS represantive on Twitter, that his DPS increased parsing at the new trial dummy...). But more acceptance that this will not change and I will need to decide next what I will do.

And that simply doesn't look good for ZoS, as I will most likely quit playing alltogether.

But as I said, happy for OP as that will mean there will be people remaining and that we might eventually see that *** of epic proportions, which U35 is, turn around and maybe, regain some of the lost players.

So I do understand OP. But i also do understand Cobble. Enjoy the game if you can. If not, start to do something else. FFXIV is said to be a great game. Downloaded that now as well to have a look at it.

Thanks Ghaleb for the explanation and understanding. I was not offended or feeling attacked by the first comment, I laughed at it too XD

I don't know what Zos will do in the future but I'm expecting starting next update that they will "fix" Veteran modes and Trials to be adequate to the U35 DPS/Healing changes. Even if I'm personally happy with my actual situation I can see that the DPS has been hit hard, and that hurts. But for what we can see right now of Zos vision, I don't think they will revert U35, I see more probable a series of adjustments to the rest of the game.

If you decide to leave, I hope you come back one day, cause as you said, a healthy community is technically the base of an MMO. In the meantime have fun with FF14!

After parsing I currently don't meet the criteria for my own progression group post update. Not wild high dps either. I went for 80k to 67k. Prior to update my other group had a best time of 1:40 hrs in vdsr. Last night it took us over 3hrs..

I can't tell if this guy is serious or not. LOL There seem to be a lot of people upset about U35, so it seems suspicious that someone is the total opposite of upset. Honestly, U35 changed some things for me, and yes, some of those things were not for the best. Change is inconvenient, sure, but I feel largely ambivalent about it as s whole. I love me some theory crafting, here, amd any time they tweek the numbers, it gives me a valid excuse to redo my calculations, build, etc. Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment?

Buuut, truth be told, I noticed something similar with U35. Yes, my post-U35 DPS numbers were slightly less than before. ::tears:: But, a dungeon that took 8-10 mins now takes 5. I didn't die as much doing same content, same group, with the same build, either. The other day, I found myself asking my dungeon group, 'Hey, did they make these dungeons a lot easier or something?' It was almost TOO easy. The dungeon bosses felt more like Public Dungeon group bosses, they went down so quick.

Did a blind run on one of the new dungeons, and even though we were totally unaware of mechanics to start with, not one of us died. That was unexpected, since it was a blind run on a new DLC dungeon.

I noticed something similar with Volcanic Vents - with people around they got closed so much faster than pre-U35 (btw, not a fair test-case)
And yes, I was serious :) but I myself am happily surprised, admittedly.

Reading your experience, it sounds like they hit the mark on some of the changes! My hope for U36 is that they’ll keep the good stuff like the Empower heavy attack buff and easier casting, while they smooth out some of the balance pain points.

As for Oakensoul’s Empower falling off on death, are you on console? If so, there should be a fix coming up soon. On PC they fixed that in the first incremental patch.

    I agree, FluffyReachWitch!
Thanks, and I hope that fix to hit consoles asap. I have not died once after U35 but it still bugs me that I could lose Empower and not remember to re-equip it, or not being able to do so while in combat.

I haven't noticed any changes that I care about. The hardest content I'm currently able to do is either the minotaur boss in Kvatch or the ash boss in City of Ash 2 and I can still do both of them. Given the lower healing, I might be a bit farther from completing Dragonstar (I can handle last boss until there are 7 adds, but can't manage that many yet).

Hello members of the 'This doesn't affect me' crowd. The forums used to be filled with players like you. Defending Zos' every nonsensical decision. Until they couldn't. Until the things THEY loved about the game were warped beyond recognition.

This selfish 'got mine' attitude will bite you in the end. As it has many former paying customers. Consider trying on a little solidarity instead of outright dismissing our concerns. It won't feel great when you're in the same boat, surrounded by sharks alone. WHEN being the operative word here.

Trust me, Zos' seemingly random mutilation-hammer swings WILL hit you eventually. A united front could change the dynamic of 'some' players being happy to 'all' or at least 'most' and avoid 'all' players being unhappy. Think about it.

Kalle_Demos I really understand your point, but I'm not saying I'm not affected by the update. Everyone has been hit by the nerfed DPS, more or less. I don't aspire to be a "toxic positive", I'm just stating what my experience with the update is, trying to give a different perspective - perhaps the one the devs have: we could become happier (even all those who today are not) with the future updates, if the game gets adjusted based on what has been the foundation with U35. Maybe we'll never need again those crazy high DPS because devs will do a refined work.
I'm only trying to spread a bit of optimism for the future, because the forum was full of hate, and that hate was pushing me to leave the game when, in truth, I would have not had any reason to leave. Let's try to keep the community alive and running, otherwise there won't ever be an U36 if game dies.
    - sidenote: I repeat myself, I'm not arguing that there isn't any issue with this update. It sure has issues. But I want to hope they'll get fixed o:)

    Pleased your happy @SkaiFaith

And I get where you're coming from. I threw together a one bar build for a DK yesterday and it's so chill. I pop three AoEs that last 24 seconds each. Then I just spam my spamable with a few light attacks for 23 seconds. It's so chill.

I have no need to play this way and I'm sure I'll get bored and go back to a full rotation. But it made me see how much better this must be for people who simply can't ran complex rotations for one reason or another.

WE FINALLY FOUND THE ONE PERSON THEY WERE AIMING FOR!!!

I've worked in customer service for a decade. People don't think about calling unless they have a problem. You might speak with 100,000 people complaining before you run into one who decides to pay a compliment. In my decade of working customer service, I have ran into 2 occasions where someone simply called to pay a compliment.

In the company I currently work in, less than 3% of the customer base actually calls in a given month and that is not even accounting for repeat callers. Between the different departments in the company, they likely take between 500 and a 1,000 calls a day and over 4 years I have only heard of one person calling in just to say thank you.

Just because the majority of the people you hear about are complaining does not mean the majority of the customer base is unhappy.

Exactly, Zuboko. That was my hope for the forum opening this thread. I don't rejoice for those willing to quit, I just ask them to be patient until next updates, because we need Raiders. I wanted to highlight that there is some unexpected good in U35. Not all is lost and doomed yet for ESO. If other people agrees with me I can only be happy to know.
Devs need to hear even only a bit of thankfulness and positivity to not lose interest in working for the wealth of the game, in my opinion. Their job, as many, is not simple.

Oh, trust me, I've been hit by what you call the "seemingly random mutilation-hammer swings" from prior updates-- but while I wasn't exactly thrilled to find overnight that I was suddenly unable to clear cerrain content that I was able to clear the day before, I didn't jump onto the forums to start bashing the devs, urging everyone to cancel their ESO Plus subscriptions or even to uninstall the game, and slinging insults like "selfish 'got mine' attitude" at forum members who dared to post that they had not been badly hit by the same changes that nerfed me and that they had even noticed some improvements.

    Happy for you OP, truly!
And I'm not here to agree nor disagree.
I just noticed a rare positive thread on the forum so thought I'd pop in and enjoy a pint and a few pretzels before it devolves into a shade of it's former self.
    Cheers! :)
