The latest patch destroyed your build? And the one before as well? There is a reason behind it.

You found your perfect build with your fantastic armour set. You spent days farming all pieces, and then spent gold and materials to make them all gold. Finally, your perfect build is finalised, and you can go to brave Tamriel.
Next patch: the set has been nerved, the skills have been nerved or have disappeared.
You cannot use that beloved build anymore, so off to the next one. Days and days of farming, gold and materials spent, etc etc etc but wait! The nest patch arrives and everything is destroyed yet again. You must start all over again.

Do you see a pattern here?
Is this a coincidence? Bad planning (not from your side, clearly)? Or something else?
What if this is something else, so that you constantly need more and more materials, more and more gold, more and more farming, more and more waste of time, more and more time spent in Tamriel on odious chores, boring farming, and tiring dungeons?
Is this the strategy that someone has come up with to keep players "engaged"/"busy" in Tamriel? Forcing them to start all over again and again and again?
Again Chromium platin for rings? Again transmute stones needed to stransmute useless traits? Again?

There is no certainty in anything. It's like having an unreliable, capricious, inconsistent lover. No wonder that so many players had enough.
At least, since we wasted so many precious materials on sets that ZOS deliberately made useless shortly afterwards, and I am not even counting the waste of time, the minimum they could do would be to allow us to recover 100% of all materials used. All of them. Like ALL.
Although... that would still not be enough to compensate for the stress.

Or your super special build relied on the overtuned sets they put in every dlc to sell copies. Once everyone buys it, they can nerf it to be in line with the overall power curve of other sets.

If they did that then the materials would be worthless and you wouldnt be concerned about buying them at all making it all pointless... At least doing what they do now keeps the wheels turning and burning for the ingame economy!

Exactly what I said, it is intentional to keep players "busy". Pity that not many want to be "busy" in this way.

We played in old sets, but even old sets and builds that are not META, not top DPS - get nerfs.

CP system, classes with their passives, not top DPS builds - all get nerfs.

Only META sets does not. Game has hundreds of sets, a lot of different weapons, but you only really can play with those that are most "fashioned" in current patch.

Why not to make all sets and weapons good and playable ?

So yes, I think you have a point.

Nerfs, I don't care about nerfs of existing numbers. They change how sets actually function, they take existing sets and make it into something else, that is not even usable in your current already existing configuration.

    Some examples:
Changing applied debuff to target for some amount of time to constant effect with much lower numbers and debuff to yourself
Changing proc condition from dodge role (defensive action, core combat ability) to pull/charge (offensive action, requires specific ability to be slotted and used)

Not like I did 45 runs of annoying dungeon (that costs money to even have access to) for backbar weapon that is now actively harmful to have on backbar...

The difference in power of all the "top" sets isn't that much between them, players are always going to want to wear the absolute best and therefor making "all sets and weapons good and playable" is not realistic unless we just strip all of them of any stats. There's always going to be a set outperforming another in a specific situation by 1% and as long as that 1% exists then everyone will only use that set because it'll be put on every build out there.

In current patch difference of our and top DPS sets are 30%-40% in DPS !

    30-40%!!!

I do not really care if it would be about 5-10%.

But 30-40% !!! Sets like Infiltrator becomes totally useless. And only PVE sets. And only PVE some skills.

    Just as example.

It's rather difficult to balance system with hundreds of parts with all potentially interacting with each other. Some games do it by having strictly limited selection of all good choices, others have few good and plenty of not that good.

I can see it to a point, but I also see the alternative: Once you have the ultimate gear set for your build, then what is there to strive for? I agree these things shouldn't be nerfed to Oblivion and back, but there should always, periodically, be something better to work for. Seems like it would get stale and boring otherwise.

That assumes that I pay them because of the changes. In truth I pay them despite the changes. I dont need changes at this frequency to feel engaged in the content. If that were true, then there is an issue with the content.

Sets be damned. I rely on tried and true simple (Seducers, Julianos, Mother's Sorrow, Hunding's Rage, etc). My dps vs actual dungeon/world bosses (not dummy parsing) dropped from 25k to 15k dps. Who knew I was so close to the ceiling that I had to be lowered and that 'accessibility' to moderate level content needed to be reduced?

Sets I mentioned in my other comment here were completely untouched since their release, base game and 2 year old DLC, no changes. I definitely can safely build around these, these are not overturned sets meant to sell new content, right?

Such is the curse of horizontal progression, where the temptation of the devs to shake the metaphorical snowglobe is just too great!

Although I consider myself a casual player. I still have to put in a considerable amount of time testing new things on the PTS just to ensure my DPS is at a level where I won't get randomly kicked.

I play on PC, and it was only two days ago since the patch dropped that I was able to finish farming the new set I needed to get my damage back up. I spent all that time on my tank build which I do enjoy playing. I also spent millions of AP on pots and gold jewelry from the PvP event to sell at guild traders so I can gold out my new set the second I obtained all the pieces.

Realistically one cannot expect a truly casual player to login and know exactly what new thing they need to farm to get back their lost power or what tweaks they need to make to their rotation. The peeps ZOS wants to raise the flower for rarely have the time or resources needed to get back theit lost power in a reasonable amount of time.

A grace period of week that starts the second one logs in after a new patch drops (can login a year from now and see the grace period announcement detailing in full all patches your characters have yet to experience and how long one has before the grace period ends) where we could get back 100% or even 50% of materials and transmute stones used would be a decent compromise.

Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).
