People who take forever and a day to play a single turn...

I hate you all.

That's all I can say.

I appreciate some people are new and others need time to plan a play, but too many of you just take so long to take a turn (especially in the early game) it's maddening...

Especially in the early game or when you don't have enough coin to buy anything or do anything more, you're just sitting there picking your nose.

It's one of the leading reasons now that I have my achieve for 100 played ranked games I don't bother with ranked anymore.

In TESL, you'd find people that wait out the clock to try to get people to concede. I don't think that's the case here due to a penalty for conceding, though.

I love TOT, never had anyone run the clock every turn, but i make my plans quick, and it changes with the enemys actions per their turn.

Not everyone plays fast like me but ohhhhhhmygodhurryup 😹

@merpins deserter penalty is per character, not per account, so slowpoke can just switch toons and continue mocking others.

Seeing NPCs play one card at a time with such huge delays between actions, also being unable to interact with half of the game's features while your opponent's deck is being shuffled is sometimes more painful than waiting for a real person to execute their turn.

Most matches against NPC's take less than 5 minutes while against other players it takes easily from 10 to 15 minutes, sometimes even 25 ( yes it happend to me).
If someone plays for fun it should not matter how long a match takes but for leveling up and collecting reward boxes efficiently it is better to play against NPC's,in my opinion.
I currently try to get all card clues and I only play from an hour to 90 minutes a day including crafting on several character but am able to do 6 or 7 card matches a day.

I've run into a few players who turn the hourglass on every single play. I don't get what they are doing that takes so long.

Haha I was just going to write a post about this exact subject!
I play pretty fast my turns. Unless the games gone on and I have built big combos.
But yeah I have encountered far too many players who are slow. Just sit there with 1 gold 1 power after taking their turn.
This is what people in todays society are like! They do it like it was said above to make me forfeit or just to be an annoyance!
    Sad but true
On one hand I wish the timer was shorter for those kind of people.
But on the other hand. Many times despite being fast I don’t have the time to bang out and finish a huge combo.

I’m sure there are also a few who genuinely are slow due to reading and learning the cards. Although I’ve been max level for awhile now and should be matched with the same level. Therefor they should have already learned by then. Hmm

Depends on how long you wait to give up, apart from losing 100 points in ranked matches, if tjhey make someone waiot to long you can give it up and just jump back in right away, also the longest match I gave up cause was going no where and still got a lost pack, was about 30 mins and was causal on that one,

Really? !0 minutes penalty? That's nothing. It should be 24 hours account wide.

Why should there be a penalty for a player not wanting to sit through a game with a passive aggressive opponent?

My last match was with someone who literally takes 30 seconds before doing anything and then 5-10 seconds between clicking every 1 gold card... It was like torture... Luckily it happened only once for me but I played only 30 matches with players so far. I think that this person had some disabilities or it was made at purpose just to win by forcing me to loose patient and give up.

I was thinking the same thing this weekend. Had someone who ran the clock out on every turn. Even in the end, when it was clear that they were going to win. I got so frustrated I let them run their turn out then conceded.

I am fine with losing and I am opposed to conceding a match just because you are losing, but intentional slow play is bad sportsmanship. In my eyes, they earned the concede. This isn't the World Series of Poker, its ESO

As far as I know there are no bonus points for playing faster than other players. Each turn is limited to 90 seconds max. They are entitled to make full use of the whole 90 seconds if they do choose.

They can but when they take the full 90 seconds every turn it is obvious that they are doing so just to aggravate the other player.

It's not a technical discussion as one of simple consideration and etiquette

I appreciate that some turns require more thought than others, especially in ranked, especially leading into the end game.

This is more about discussing play that's obvious and limited, but is drawn out deliberately to frustrate the other player into conceding early.

Exactly. While @MJ202 is correct that there is no bonus for playing faster, there is no legitimate reason to take 90 second on every single turn. Not every single turn requires the full 90 seconds, ESPECIALLY the first 2-3 rounds. There's no combos to be had that early, not enough coin to determine if you want to spend it on 2 smaller cards or one expensive one, and not enough power to spend on patrons. Most of it is dumping the single coin card for the double. If you take 90 seconds to do that, its intentional slow play for whatever reason, either strategic or just to be passive aggressive.

I made a separate thread about their patch speed, but I think this video is a good example of what you mean here too.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwGqn7MnWRQ

It's pretty obvious some people are using it as a way to try and force their opponent to concede.

And here's another example I meant to upload a while back. Just got around to it.

I admit, I play quite slowly - my brain just doesn’t work that quickly, compared to many others, (one reason why I can’t play PvP content, I get slaughtered) and I like to be thorough in my decisions.
We have a time limit and I try to play as fast as I can, and never deliberately delay the game. That said, some people are truly toxic and will send rude messages to get me to speed up - honest truth is I can’t.
PvP ToT turns are timed, if people want to use the allotted time, I have no problem with it, but some people just seem to be in one big rush.

It's not a matter of being in a rush. It's a matter of not having an unpleasant experience. Just sitting and doing nothing while waiting to play is very tedious and boring and can even create anxiety.

Not sure I’m ever doing ‘nothing’. While I’m not playing my hand, I’m looking at my deck, draw pile and cool downs, watching my opponents play, and working out possible options for my next play. There’s quite a lot to do. Certainly not boring.
The NPC’s play hands quickly, and the current update make NPC contests a little more challenging, a change which I will welcome. Maybe stick to them matches - the rewards always seem to be better too. I always get complete trash off the PvP rewards and they are much harder to win, especially in Rubedite.

I do that too, but that only takes a few seconds, then I have to sit there and wait, turn after turn. I've had opponents play all their cards and use all their coins and still not end their turn until the last second.

I'm just trying to offer some insight on why it is very difficult for many of us to play slow matches like that.
