Clearly other means of communication are preferred so shut down the forums; esp since speaking plainly here isn't tolerated all that much.

So what move all the information over to social media? Not all of us use or want to use social media, would rather stick with an official forum.

I've made a bit over 300 posts on the forums with many of them being negative.

I don't recall anything beyond a minor edit and I believe virtually all of them if not all have been for the removal of quoted text.

Generally speaking, I find forums offer relatively easy access and allow for a more diverse sections of opinion than most other options.

I don't have a twitter nor am i willing to share my facebook with people i don't know very much. For me, it's the forums or nothing at all in terms of communicating with other players or the devs.

Well, it could be interesting. What will you contribute to it? You have neither voted or said anything on topic. What do you have to offer the topic?

I'm assuming they mean these forums in particular. Seeing as 80% of anything is snipped for alleged baiting, bashing, or just outright removed for whatever specious reason.

Forum is the only place we have to talk about eso and eso only, it's where we get centralized things about all things eso. Patch notes, server status, maintenance times, dev insights... On any other platform this would need to be simplified and we would lose even more communication, not just between the devs and us but between thoughtful players.

Doesn't matter. I'm not accessing social media to find out stuff about this game. Social media is complete garbage. If that's all there is to find out what's going on, I'll just not find out what's going on.

That's fair, I just didn't read it as a choice between social media or the forums, more of a commentary on the complete joke the forums have become now that any criticism at all gets removed.

The only members of ZOS we see responding to posts are the ones making sure our voices are stifled. :(

Other means are preferred by whom? I personally HATE Twitter and the like.

Not sure about that poll choice but I like the forums.

ZoS doesn't really listen to us anyway. Might as well bite the bullet, remove the forums, and let ZoS dig the game's grave faster.

What is the alternative, discord? Have you seen the other Bethesda games that use discord as their forums? They are a mess.

@Memory_In_Motion we all know we have to tread lightly and have to stay positive if we do not want to be deleted. We will not find a lot of official information and most of the posts are uninformed opinions without real value. But at least they do not spy on our smartphones here (as far as i know). It would be nice if they talked to us more and gave us the feeling of being heard, instead of just keeping the discussions nice and clean. It could be a really good way to share infos, and sometimes it is. But most players have either been banned years ago, or do not even know how to open an account in this forum. So i would say the forums have a lot of potential but do not really make me happy at the moment. Just like ESO.

No, the forums still have a use the issue with the forums is the over moderating of anything said unfortunately. The truth of how the community feels or think can't be heard when those posts or comments are immediately removed and or attacked by those in the community or outside it. If the voices of the community could be heard more often then things would change for the better but as it stands on how things are handled on the moderation side and by the community things won't change.

Forums are a good technology for the kinds of discussions we have here.

If discussions are harmed by aggressive moderation, that doesn't contradict the first point.

Sure, sometimes the mods' notion of "not constructive" is a bit excessive, but most of the times people can discuss things here without headaches. I'd rather share ideas in an moderated place created by ESO's makers and dedicated to it than to put up with the mess of social media:

Imagine trying to search Facebook or Twitter for solutions, guides, and advice. No thanks. Plus, your poll is biasing results with the "esp since speaking plainly here isn't tolerated all that much" bit that you throw in at the end, which really makes the question something more like: "Are forums still useful when they severely curtail what you can and can't say?" Seriously, what would be the alternative you would prefer?

    Greetings all,

We have reviewed this thread, and have come to the decision it does not lend itself to constructive discussion so we have gone ahead and closed it. We understand everyone has opinions they would like to express and discuss, but conversation on the Forums should always stay respectful and within the Community Rules. Bashing is never acceptable on the ESO forums.
Bashing and Slanderous Comments: We do not permit the bashing of individuals (including ZeniMax employees), groups, or other companies on our forums. We believe that doing so is neither constructive nor in spirit of our game and community.
