The 2 New PvP Sets

I just had to say how funny it is that 2 new sets are being introduced to PvP and that both of them are extremely unfun and broken sets(not as much nocturnal's now). That is 100% failure rate.

I also think it's almost expertly done how a patch that stated they want you to spend less time looking at your bars introduces a set that purges your buffs off of you, causing you to have to monitor them even more, and a set that constantly purges your debuffs off of the enemy, making you have to pay attention to what's falling off and when to reapply it even more.

Truly whoever is writing the script behind the scenes is a comedy mastermind.

    Agreed

How is Nocturnal's not broken tho?

It still is - he just meant that it is less problematic with a 15 second cooldown. Now truly, the only reason to run that set is if you're speccing purely to outnumber your opponents.

Something weird must be happening with the dev team this patch. So many significant missteps/blunders.

We’ll never know the real story.

Honestly there are some pvp sets that have just been a cancer since they were introduced. Dark convergence needs to be killed with fire, these 2 are no different. They will be abused and drive even more folks out of pvp.

The point is that the metalic monk he is main sorc, will only give a positive review when beneficiary or Sorc he plays, otherwise nothing in the patch will start. The new set is what will save the nerf of many classes (it's unfortunate) but it's what we have and we shouldn't be against something that can turn nerf into something less painful.

Mara doesnt even require a purge since it works with cc break, snare removal and of course the reapplication of any negative effect.

I really don't understand what you are trying to say here. More powerful sets= less class nerfs?

Nah - he was saying: sorcs have to shut up, bc they are low tier.
They have forfeited any right to claim OP sets and skills.

I think the “logic” was that broken sets help even the playing field when there is significant class imbalance.

    I don’t agree.

Broken sets destroy diversity and make PVP repetitive, oversimplified, and boring/annoying.

Was in a BG recently where one guy kept spamming Dark Convergence/Rush of Agony. And that was pretty much all he did.

One set can be balanced by a simple cool down. The other girl a cool down but it's not bad because of balance entirely. It's bad because it's introducing a foreign mechanic that this game is not built to have.

I feel what others have said. "I'm tired".

Mara's might be broken but nothing compares to how cancerous and unfun Nocturnal's is, It doesn't even matter how strong it is, it's objectively unfun to play against.

At least Mara's won't force me to constantly watch my buffs because some pepega from offscreen hit me with some random debuff

Agree about nocturnals being totally unfun. It genuinely doesn't belong in the game - if zenimax wants to add dispels to the game, they should first start with one of the morphs of negate. Instead of suppressing magicka casts inside of it, just make it instantly remove all (temporary) buffs/hots from everyone it hits on cast.

Mara's balm is going to ruin the pvp this patch if it goes live, though. The amount of healing it provides makes your average pvp player unkillable in a 1v1. The healing only scales up with the more people that are hitting you, too.

As a solo player I'm biased towards sets that are stronger for 1vx, but I don't want a set like maras in the game. Everyone will wear it, nobody will die, and the game won't be fun.

It is possible members of the Dev Team are not overly concerned about sets ruining PVP.

    Dark Convergence…

Plaguebreak is pretty stupid also. Any set that does significant damage with no skill required diminishes and dilutes the game. At least for me.

I know of at least one really good PVPr who crutches on Dark Con and usually finishes at the top in PVP.

I mean at the end of the day the sentiment here is on point. They aren't fun to play against and require no skill. If you don't use they you are at a huge disadvantage and it only aggravates an already major issue. It's like they introduced Mara to combat DC when DC never should have made it live to begin with. Nocturnal and DC just make the ball group issue worse..

I posted this in the other mara's thread but I figure more eyes/attention is a good thing. I uploaded a video today testing the set in a 1 v 2 and a 1 v 3 situation vs good players. I also put it on a healer to compare mara's healing vs other commonly used heals in the game to get a comparison. I put on lich and the vma resto thinking that i was going to take so much damage i'd need the magicka recovery to kite around and survive.

I ended up face tanking all 3 people without blocking, dodging or even using my burst heal to survive. Mara's gives 800+ HPS from my testing for each person you fight outnumbered. I've seen as high as 1600 hps, but 800-1000 seems to be the norm.

In a 1 v 10 it's conceivable that mara's will give you 10k hps, basically ball group level healing as a solo player in a 5 pc set...and as has already been said earlier...it makes you so tanky 1 v 1 most competent players that know how to block/dodge and use their hots will not die.

I think the set at a minimum needs a 1 second GCD on incoming hots and even then could very well be too strong. It would be a good start though. Below is a cmx of the 1 v 3 that i had, 624 procs in 3.5 minutes lol.

That's why I keep away from proc campaigns and CP in general.
I suspect more players will join Ravenwatch after this patch goes live.
