TBH, I'm not sure, because I've never been caught up in worrying about my DPS.

However, IIRC it was unusual to see anyone boast of a DPS over 50K or so, but eventually people started talking about getting a DPS over 60K, then over 70K, then over 80K, etc. Initially those claims would be met with skepticism, but then other people would start to duplicate those numbers as they folliwed what the first person had done.

I started playing at the very end of August, 2017.

Wow this post makes it seams like I am the only non beta player...

The reason I am asking is because some seam to be unhappy because of U35 is taking some dps away from them.

Wanted to know what is the baseline for some of us

Tbh, I bet many of 60k or less people here are before 21m dummy introduced in game.

Back in the days, you only have 3m & 6m dummies without any buff/debuff on them. And before 3m & 6m dummies, people are using bloodspawn for dps testing.

I was only doing 35k~45k dps early days and it's on a 6m dummy (the dps was so different cause some classes can easily debuff dummy with their abilities & even swap to penetration mundus). When 21m dummy released the buff/debuff wasn't that many yet, but I can still deal 85k+ on 21m dummy. 21m dummy nowadays I can hit even higher simply because it got more buffs & debuffs.

Not to mention 21m dummy got 2 more buffs (major slayer buff & minor courage.) on pts, so if your dps have been dropped in pts, that means your dps drop even more in realy fight.

I have honestly no idea. For the first few years of playing I had all zone chat etc turned off and played 100% solo. Being my first MMO I really had no concept of DPS etc. It was only when I joined a guild 3 years or so ago that these concepts came to my attention

I doubt anyone can know this question's answer. I don't recall Combat Metrics addon existing when I started playing.

But based on a quesstimate, I'd say between 15k and 25k. (25k by the very best players with optimal setups.)

Damage was much lower back when I first started playing. It was plenty for the content available.

This is probably the most accurate answer. Vet levels were a thing, capping at VR14 and then VR16 was a thing, it was all a way different time then, better some may say.

I started at horns of the reach and the heavy hitters in our raid team were hitting 50-60k on the 6m dummy. I believe stamblade was pretty meta at that time.

When game first start dps was about 9k to 12k. When imperial city dlc was released in 2015 dps jump up to 25k with white gold tower head and shoulder and the 3 piece jewelry sets

No idea. When I first started I was worried about things like how to get a mount and whether to try crafting, not precise damage numbers.

Agreed in a sense, i started as a beta tester and have played since and never concerned myself with what numbers i can make flash on screen. If i lived and the bad guy died and i had fun in the process, i was happy.

Since starting everything has been multiplied by 10, & that's before power creep set in!

Comparisons of dps WITHOUT all assumptions and conditions of measurement clearly stated and equalized are useless.

Also, there have been significant changes to the game over time from VR level increases to the introduction of CP to One Tamriel that totally changed the 'numbers', making any comparisons from some arbitrary past time to today equally useless.

There is no point of comparing when on release all numbers were an order of magnitude lower and before iron astros existed the different "measurement" system was used.
2k dps from 2014 aren't comparable to 45k on the 3m skeleton from 2016. And those 45k aren't comparable to 100k on the 21m dummy from 2018. Even the 21m dummy isn't exactly the same as it was.

I'm genuinely annoyed when people compare numbers on the trial dummy to the 3m dummy numbers as proof of immense power creep.

55k on iron is about 30k on 6 million as such there's still a power creep.

eh, the game was more broken back then. Yes you could achieve higher dps, but trials weren't even the main focus. people were enjoying and exploring the content rather than focusing on the numbers and what content creators tell them to think.

for example if I had poor ping I could have a pet out as a sorc after switching from my backbar. that alone gives you more dps, they didn't fix this for years lol

For me it was when 30-35k or so was top tier. Not wiping at MOL HM was still not guaranteed, basically. But there was no trial dummy so I'm not sure how those numbers would translate onto a trial dummy today with back then's gear

    I've really never bothered checking.
My first ever character (which I deleted) was built so terribly, I could not defeat a zone boss in Coldharbour (and no, I am not talking about a group boss. It was one of the bosses you are taken to as part of the Coldharbour storyline). That was either just barely prior to One Tamriel or right after it. Either way, I am assuming my dps was terrible.

I think anything prior to OneT players damage for the most part was incrased when they went into lower zone or dungeons. The only time DPS would matter is for dungeons that were your level.

Things were so much different than compared to now.

On console they took you into some dungeon with a tank and possibly a healer and.... the whole thing seemed rather silly to me so I just quit when my trial guild said we all had to get tested.

Bloodspawn. Had to kill it before the roof caved in or something like that. Your DPS was based on a stopwatch and boss health lol.
