No idea. When I first started I was worried about things like how to get a mount and whether to try crafting, not precise damage numbers.

(But it was February 2015, shortly before update 6, someone might know based on that.)

Oh so much this! For me it was May 2017.

When I started the numbers were not inflated, a build with 25k health now would only of had 2500 health back then and damage was the same.

I doubt anyone can know this question's answer. I don't recall Combat Metrics addon existing when I started playing.

But based on a quesstimate, I'd say between 15k and 25k. (25k by the very best players with optimal setups.)

Damage was much lower back when I first started playing. It was plenty for the content available.

I started playing back in closed beta, when pretty much everything was different. I have absolutely no idea what DPS was possible back then but I'm willing to bet it was less than 60k (back then I imagine 25k would be more like 50-75k now).
    Character List [RP and PvE]:
Stands-Against-Death: Argonian Magplar Healer - Crafter
Krisiel: Redguard Stamsorc DPS - Literally crazy Werewolf, no like legit insane. She nuts
Kiju Veran: Khajiit Stamblade DPS - Ex-Fighters Guild Suthay who likes to punch things, nicknamed Tinykat
Niralae Elsinal: Altmer Stamsorc DPS - Young Altmer with way too much Magicka
Sarah Lacroix: Breton Magsorc DPS - Fledgling Vampire who drinks too much water
Slondor: Nord Tankblade - TESified verson of Slenderman
Marius Vastino: Imperial <insert role here> - Sarah's apathetic sire who likes to monologue
Delthor Rellenar: Dunmer Magknight DPS - Sarah's ex who's a certified psychopath
Lirawyn Calatare: Altmer Magplar Healer - Traveling performer and bard who's 101% vanilla bean
Gondryn Beldeau: Breton Tankplar - Sarah's Mages Guild mentor and certified badass old person
Gwendolyn Jenelle: Breton Magplar Healer - Friendly healer with a coffee addiction
Soliril Larethian- Altmer Magblade DPS - Blind alchemist who uses animals to see and brews plagues in his spare time
Tevril Rallenar: Dunmer Stamcro DPS - Delthor's "special" younger brother who raises small animals as friends
Celeroth Calatare: Bosmer <insert role here> - Shapeshifting Bosmer with enough sass to fill Valenwood

    PC - NA - EP - CP1000+

You are correct. It was nowhere near 60k. Dots ticked for double digits to put things into perspective. I liked a Deltia video from 2014 to prove this is correct, and the poll needs to be reworked.

Oh, for history's sake, when the CP system was added, Zenimax increased everything by 10 which included a big increase in NPC health as well. I have been here a little less than a year but have learned enough about ESO to put this together.

when the game launched there was literally no way to track how much damage you were doing.

the first training dummies were not added until after housing (obviously) and you weren't seeing numbers over "60k" until the trial training dummy was added.

when I first started doing parses on the dummy people were getting around 45k on the 3m dummy.

on live i can get around 58k on a 3m
on PTS i now get 49k.

If i use the sets that I was using back "in the old days" on a 3m dummy i get around 43k.
dps has actually gone down since 2017 unless you are using the new sets and have all the new buffs and debuffs active.

FTC was able to track DPS early on. It was created by Atropos and was one of the first combat addons for the game.

VR10 was the highest, we had those pesky soft caps, costs were so much higher, and max resources were super low like not even a quarter of what we have today!

Yep, IIRC basically everything got multiplied by 10 (HP, damage, healing). I did not pay attention to DPS at the time, but it would have been very low with the old health values.

There were no target dummies, so veteran Spindleclutch was used as the DPS test on Bloodspawn. When I did start working DPS builds in 2016 this was still the only method, and 30k DPS was considered good, I'd guess the peak was around 35k (I don't recall hearing about anyone doing 40k until late 2017, maybe HotR or Clockwork City).

Keep in mind this was effectively an unbuffed dummy, so not really apples to apples with any trial dummy parses today. I'd be curious to see what DPS people would get on vSC2 Bloodspawn today, without any buffs/debuffs from tank or healer. 50k on live, maybe 40k on PTS? It's certainly not going to be the 100k+ we often see with raid buffs.

Edit: Looks like the 2015 rescaling was closer to 8X multiplier, not 10X.

I started in late 2016 early 2017 and damage builds had like 12 to 15k health and had a ton of stamina but 60k+ was considered higher end.

On console they took you into some dungeon with a tank and possibly a healer and.... the whole thing seemed rather silly to me so I just quit when my trial guild said we all had to get tested.

Wow this post makes it seams like I am the only non beta player...

The reason I am asking is because some seam to be unhappy because of U35 is taking some dps away from them.

Wanted to know what is the baseline for some of us

This poll needs to specify in what dummy or it is useless. At the start of the game there were no dummies.
When I started to pay attention to dps there was only the 3m which has no buffs. 50k was great dps but it isn’t relevant to compare this to the 21m raid dummy used now because that has most buffs applied to it.
ZoS are cheesing the dps nerf by adding buffs to the dummy in the next release.

If that's the lens you're looking through, its more of a moving target. Look at the health of the bosses as the game has progressed. Valkyn Skoria is a little over 5M, 5,4 IIRC. Thurvokun is 6M on HM. Lady Thorn is +22M. If you look at the unbuffed dummy numbers when Dragon Bones came out 40-50K would be on the high side, I could be a little off there. So Lady Thorn is over 3.5 x the health of Thurvokun but the damage numbers against an unbuffed dummy wouldn't be nearly 3.5 x higher. A good bit of the damage increase comes from group buffs. They didn't really target those with the changes, they targeted individual damage numbers. So the result is likely going to be that well optimized groups will still be way ahead of the average groups attempting content.

A decrease of 10% of the bosses health with still leave Lady Thorn at 20M health.

I remember that 10 to 15k was considered "pretty good" and was the standard set for group dungeons and some trials.
The indignity when one trial group started asking for 20k as a minimum.
With each "dlc" or update the bar has been raised.
I now "do" 25 to 30k in general overland.

There is no point of comparing when on release all numbers were an order of magnitude lower and before iron astros existed the different "measurement" system was used.
2k dps from 2014 aren't comparable to 45k on the 3m skeleton from 2016. And those 45k aren't comparable to 100k on the 21m dummy from 2018. Even the 21m dummy isn't exactly the same as it was.

I'm genuinely annoyed when people compare numbers on the trial dummy to the 3m dummy numbers as proof of immense power creep.

Way less than that, basically if you could do 25k-30k you were already in the highest margin. I remember the first 'parse' I did was on Bloodspawn, since there were no dummies back then, and he was an easily accessible single target boss, and my result was around 18k

In the beginning, reaching 10k was already very good. I was so proud when I made 12k for the first time. And killing wasps in Craglorn was a challenge in itself. It must be said that I started the game as a tank and I only realized later that heavy armor ans max health was not the best thing to hit hard! :D
