Ironblood On PTS: Why does it not have Minor Aegis right now?

Hello, as the title suggests this is in response to the update to the Ironblood set.

Currently on Live the set offers 30% unique damage reduction for 10 seconds every 15 seconds with a 10% proc chance. During the proc your movement speed is decreased by 50%.

On PTS it seems they have updated the set to offer the following instead of a unique 30% damage reduction proc:

- Major Protection (10% damage reduction)
- Minor Protection (5% damage reduction)
- Major Aegis (10% damage reduction in dungeons and trials)

The aforementioned adds up to only 25% instead of the 30% damage reduction on live. If it offered the following then that would bring the damage reduction from the set back up to 30% which is what it has been the entire time since release.

- Minor Aegis (5% damage reduction in dungeons and trials)

My understanding is that the developers feel that a unique 30% damage reduction effect is not what they would like the set to offer, even with a 50% reduction to speed. This is why they adjusted the damage reduction to just be multiple damage reduction buffs which will result in lower total damage reduction since most people's setup will include at least one or more of the buffs listed.

To balance this off they reduced the curse component of the buff to 25% speed reduction and made it proc every 10 seconds.

However this leaves the damage reduction component at 25% total instead of the 30% that it originally has been at this entire time without issue. My suggestion is that this renders the set as a sub-optimal option compared to other defensive sets and it makes sense to add Minor Aegis to this mix to get the set back to the 30% number which it has been this entire time without issue.

Any thoughts?

Reducing drawbacks (50% -> 25% debuff and 66% -> 100% uptime), surely has to come with some substantial nerfs to not improve an already overperforming set. Mission accomplished.

I should add though that while it did deserve a nerf, very few will use the set in its current state. PvE tanks (unless inexperienced) never build for maximum damage reduction and a substantial portion of the current mitigation is PvE only.

minor aegis is mostly already granted by tanking trial sets, so if you wanted to stack those it wouldnt make a lot of sense

don't forget diminishing returns, percentages don't add like flat values
