But the old animation looked godlike this New spear is just something not sent from the divines found in Tamriel for a cheap price.. Should every templar now use the paddle spear to fit the animation.. I mean the other spam animation from other classes is never the weapon that is shown?

They won't revert anything now. It's been sent to Stadia and what we see is what we get.

The only question now is what we do.

I hope they scrap the new animation and changes, it looks awful. It's so clunky and awkward, feels terrible to use. Would hate to see the other ability animations get messed with too.

Did they adjust the sound effect to make it match the animation?

I prefer the new one to the old one. This looks like a lance rather than a stick. What I also like with the new is that it's a lance while going melee and using javelin is the old one that actually looks like a javelin. For me that is more immersive. Been a templar main since beta. I get why people don't like it though, first second I tried on the PTS I was like "what the hell!?" Seeing something changed after 8 years of use is of course going to be "surprising" to say the least.

I hope they continue to change animations, imagine when using Spear shards your toon would use BOTH hands to launch a big ass lance into the sky wich falls down on your enemies. I feel stuff like that would contribute to the manifestation of Aedric power, why would every skill use the exact same spear dimensions. I mean look at a ballista and a bow and arrow, both use an arrow like projectile but intended for different targets.

I've always liked that Dawns wrath skill line uses different type of "spell projectiles" with the same colour. It feels like your character really possesses that type of magic.

For me there’s no changing the line and it’s defining style. I don’t consider what they’ve done thus far an upgrade visually, we’ve been downgraded. I can’t get past the new look for jabs as is. Especially not to something so utterly boring, generic and unoriginal. It’s dandy, drab and embarrassing. Personally have no will to carry on with magplar. I once had this pure awesome and intimidating golden burning spear of divine and righteous might appear in a flurry of radiant justice. U35 comes along and suddenly I look like Ned Flanders, floppy wrist and all, got into a fight and lost with a decorative coat rack. I decided to not renew my sub and I’m just gonna take a good break. Only ever played magplar and sorc cause I’m normally pulling 68hrs a week at work and didn’t have the time to dedicate to learning, building and constantly rebuilding other toons every patch or maintenance day. I’m 100% salty and butthurt about everything for the moment. Now I can get past a lot of the changes and adapt. But that jabs animation hit me in the feels. I felt like Eeyore trying to build a house out of sticks only for them to always fall down this entire week every time I thought about hopping on. After checking it out on PTS I just can’t. I’ll return later, desperately hoping by some miracle they’ve reverted the animation back to it’s glory that defined the Templar’s class identity. If not imma just delete ‘em and try to find a new class to try out to fill the void in my soul. I’ll definitely keep an eye out at least for what U36 might hopefully revert and fix. I mean, U35 really set the bar for me personally. It’s not possible U36 could fair worse for my toons and how I’d love to build and play them.


And yeah, I’m biased, I don’t like change to something I viewed as absolutely fundamental to a toon I spent years with rather attached to and happy with. It’s like waking up to a stranger where your spouse was when you had fallen asleep. Don’t understand why they couldn’t find an animator off Fiverr or some other freelancer listings to slightly adjust jabs to address the hits and timing. There’s some 8yr old sitting at home who would take the bid in a heartbeat for $5 bucks and have it back to you in ten minutes or less! Then, if they wish to introduce new animations for a class skill line they could be introduced optionally. Maybe you’re the first Templar to be corrupted by some daedric influence and your entire Aedric Spear line animations morph into these dark red and purple chaotic powers.

The old spear model needs to come back, if they want to keep the new janky animation sure I guess. But they should at least keep the kit consistent.
