Upcoming PTS

Can they please revert the whole of the combat changes of U35? I really don't know why they decided that these changes are good there are tons of other options and I really don't want this game to lose even more players. ESO was fun a few months ago. Now it's just frustrating.

Automaticaly weaving light attacks with adjustable percentages would have brought alot of accessibility.

Or a damage cap where the real challenge is how fast or easily you achieve that damage cap could have kept the combat nice and engaging.

There are so many good options. The upcoming changes don't belong to them.
I just want to be able to enjoy raids again, instead of enduring the neverending cascade of canceled raids due to low attendance and interest with the overall consensus being "Soon it won't matter anyway"

As much as I think they need to scrap it all and return to the basics... MMOs and games in general are considered businesses first and hobby/fun/works of art/passion last. With that in mind, and considering ZOS is owned by Microsoft, it would take a very courageous group of developers to stand up to their bosses and say "hey, we really need to reconsider this update".

To a business, an update is progress irrelevant of the content it contains. I dont think the fallout for this update will truly be calculated until the coming month afterwards and they check their profit earnings. When that time comes, we are gonna see a lot of things swinging backwards to where this all started. At least as long as everyone that says their cancelling ESO+ actually follows through, and as long as it actually hits the core base of the game... casuals... and specifically casuals who dont read PTS. If the changes are bad enough to effect the gameplay for people who dont even read patch notes, there will be a large walking back by ZOS.

The catch is that will be another 3 months. I think all customer loyalty and trust was wiped out with U35. They promised not to make huge changes. They made huge changes. One thing I know about life is this: trust is hard to earn, easy to lose. I dont think theyll gain back half the people they lose with this update.

Wish I never came back to game. If this update is as bad as the people who are currently testing and talking about it seems to be.... we are watching the beginning of the end of an MMO in process. No matter what, once another MMO comes along that is better and hits the right spots for consumers, ESO is done for. Every MMO right now should be aware of that. All ZOS had to do is keep things small... we dont expect nor want huge sweeping changes. Especially not with a 8 year old game. We just want something familiar and stable to have fun with an escape life with for a little bit. Weve largely come to understand what the combat of ESO means. Changes like this, this late in the games development doesnt bode well for the future.

They could have kept most of their playerbase and got more. Instead, we might be witnessing the beginning of the end prematurely.

ESO has a diverse player base. DPS / HPS is not the top priority for many, and those for whom it is not will be unaffected.

But I really enjoy killing stuff, particularly solo, and that means I like DPS (and self-HPS). I've been playing for years and am just never going to get better than the ~60k DPS I currently have on Live. That's just the limit my brain-hand coordination can muster. Taking a 10% (or more, I saw 15% in my tests) reduction from U35 is going to hurt. It will mean I can complete less content than I could before, what I can complete will take longer, and it basically "shrinks" the game for me because there is less content that I can enjoy.

If I can't kill things as easily, I won't enjoy the game as much. If I don't enjoy the game as much, I won't play as much. If I don't play as much, ZOS loses their chance to sell me new chapters and various bits of fluff from the Crown Store.

So, only time will tell how it works out. Some people (like me) will be turned off, some will be just fine, some may even like the artificially increased "challenge" the dps loss provides for existing content. But until ZOS sees the numbers, and in particular what it does to sales numbers, they won't be able to decide whether they made a mistake or not. It's all about profit, and the next quarter's numbers will determine whether we see the mess that is U35 gets rolled back or if they double-down on it.
