Please leave a comment so Zos sees this letter if your serious about U35
There has been much discussion about update 35 and majority of the community is very unhappy with it.
Light attacks and heavy attack is a core element of ESO and is something that made the game stand out as a pinnacle core element so unique, it placed ESO on a class of game all by itself.
When researching the game its known by its fast pace combat and deeply layered combat system and even deeper system which support the most theorycrafting out of any other mmo in existence in the history of all mmos. The amount of choices in this game are absolutely dizzying. If you can imagine it. You can build it. Its the choices that has given and gives this game its future aa a standout mmo.
Update 35 addresses 2 key components to ESO's core combat system.
1. Uniforms all Dots
2. Uniforms all light, heavy attack dmg
There are so many problems with this on so many levels. This topic has been discussed at great lengths. Rehasing this is the central topic of this thread. But a brief recap of the issues is intended to refresh and gives relevance and perspective to this topic since it does have a relation also.
Uniforming all Dots, Nerfing Dots
1. Slows down combat
2. Completely kills Theorycrafting giving every build same rotation
3. Eliminates the use of existing sets
4. Kills Class Identity giving each class the same generic roatation.
5. Makes it harder for new players which is in direct conflict with the "making content more accessible to newer players" value
Uniforming Light and Heavy Attacks
1. Makes it harder for newer players. (My 9yr old daughter plays this game uses light attacks to get through overland content. Nerfing damage will hurt her damage will be very confusing as to why she can no longer get through content. If this happens she will likely move on to another game which conflicts with the accessibility value stated by Gilliam)
2. Punishes long time veteran for actually learning how to play the game.
3. Punishes newer players for how to play the game. Both have put in effort. It should not be devalued or nullified especially when the intent of the change has the opposite and negative impact
4. Werewolf Design relies heavily on light and heavy attacks by its very nature according to your own tool tips Zos created. Werewolf will not be usable.
5. There are so many sets that too will become useless, even skills and class skills.
There are so many problems with this update.
But even more disturbing than the update itself is something else that needs to be addressed.
In Gilliams statement regarding ESO content he mentions how the team wants the game to be more accessible to new players and its been a goal of the team to do exactly that.
A lot of the community knows the team has put effort, energy and time into this game. The team should be congratulated for such. Its not easy. Sometimes it probably feel thankless. Customers can be fickle.
You also have other people who put in a lot effort into this game as well.
1 Skinny Cheeks
2. Brah We Git This
3. TheAsianGod
4. Xynode Gaming
And a few others.
The community as a whole puts forth a good amount of effort and time into this game as well.
Xynode and Brah We Got This help teach the game to more casual and newer players and they do a very good job at it.
This really helps newer players get into this game and into progressing through it.
But.....
How do you expect newer players or even brand new players to get into the game if you change it every 3 months. The information new players rely on changes become obsolete. Buid videos and instructions by content creators becomes outdated within months of eachother and when newer players look for self help, all they find are outdated video on builds that no longer are relevant due to the "Whiplash Effect" of the sweeping changes every 3 months.
This is creating a Domino Affect. Your content creators have stopped making build videos because they have realized they cant keep up with the patches with all of these sweeping changes. Now newer players have nowhere to go to look for build videos. This is is frustrating to newer players and most have ended up quitting.
The sweeping changes every 3 months has finally hit its threshold of tolerance. Guys its been 8 years worth of balance patches and trying to make the game accessible. How many patches does that equate.
Whatever the number, I think the community as whole is beginning not to see these sweeping patches as not only unacceptable, but begining to feel the game is unstable. When the people that help newer players cannot keep up with the changes in the game and your content creators stop making build video...well that a sign of an underlying problem.
The light and heavy attack changes as well as the dot changes do nothing to help newer players do better. It makes things harder for them. It punishes everyone in every level. It eliminates class identity and firget Theorycrafting (Throw Theorycrating out of the window).
Kills Werewolf completely as it relies on lights, heavy and dots.
This update basically guys whats makes this game special and unique. You have sonething special here. Dont ruin it because of a quest to make the game accessible for everyone. Thats not a realistic goal for anyone who doesnt want to work for it.
Solution...Teach light attack weaving in tutorial so every new player actually knows its an option in the game.
Solution...for those who have hand articulation issues like MS or CP make auto light attack an option in menu.
This is a direct statement to Zos
Warning - This is very direct
"You have a strong community here. Dont take advantage of them making the grave mistske thinking they will always be here. Everyone and I mean everyone has a point where they have a threshold/limit. Large companies tend to think because they are largr they will always have the support of customers and community and We the company can do whatever we want and our customers just have to take no matter what. This has no basis in reality. Your customers,/community dont have to be here. They can leave. You are not guaranteed to have the community or customer base.
Here are some examples of giant corporations that didnt listen to there customers and ultimately paid the price:
Marginalizing customer service
Before US Airways was purchased by America West in 2005, the airline slashed its customer service budget, and outsourced many of those functions. As a result, the company mishandled or failed to address numerous complaints, angering customers to the point that no amount of cost-cutting could make up for the fact that passengers didn't want to do business with with the airline, eventually forcing it to file bankruptcy.
W.T. Grant was an American retail institution for 70 years until 1976 when the company filed bankruptcy. During the 1960s and 70s, the company failed to recognize that middle-class Americans were moving to the suburbs, which posed a huge challenge to the company because most of its stores were in downtown locations.
Thinking customers are wrong
According to Elliot, W.T. Grant responded to the challenge with marketing gimmicks, such as offering free store credit to "anyone that breathed." The plan backfired. Grant's customers didn't want free merchandise; they wanted to be able to shop in comfort, closer to their suburban homes. W.T. Grant failed to adapt, effectively telling customers they were wrong. At the time, the W.T. Grant bankruptcy was the second largest in U.S. history.
A customer-hostile model
For his third example, Elliot highlights Blockbuster, the once dominant video rental chain that shut down half of its stores and was auctioned off to the Dish Network in bankruptcy court. The common reason given by analysts for Blockbuster's demise is that technology - namely online video streaming - rendered Blockbuster's business model obsolete, and the company wasn't able to adapt.
However, Elliot sees it differently. He writes that Blockbuster came to be seen as a giant corporation that charged outrageous sums for late fees and cared little for what its customers wanted the most. Even after Blockbuster attempted to compete directly with newer competitors like Netflix, consumers still decided they didn't want to give Blockbuster their business.

The eso community here is very diverse with people coming from every walk of life different backgrounds (and usually cant agree in anything). But regardless of the differences, the community for the 1st time(I have played this game since launch) have come together and have spoken resoundingly, in voice unanimously and told you without equivication, they dont want update 35.
You should listen to your customers
Thank you
