Stamina on PTS

So over the past few patches, the hybriziation has really forced stamina to really branch out and add more mag-based moves to their tool belt. It's slowly becoming a lack of identity for competitive PVE DPS in a lot of cases.

Hell, for the first time in many patches, stam sorc was using pets. I still have to run with the lil scamp to see decent numbers, AND a flame staff on the back bar? The bow is just a joke, and the 2 hander back bar style isn't enough any more to get me off the couch, so to speak, to use it over the flame staff.

Several parses and such, as a stam sorc mind you, and I feel like some strange mag-dagger hybrid with a big green bar. This isn't fun nor what I wanted when I thought of a warrior with blades.

There’s less room to play how you want whenever meta setups become barely enough to scrape by

I play adjacent to meta at best, and augment with sets that account that I suck at light weaving, but still often have 'still good enough sets'.

Like Tzog's is great, frees up a bar and lets me run crit surge and gives me plenty of crit. Now I need more DOTS to feel decent and strong, and debate how I am going to have that sustain (IE healing from crit surge) and get that bleed dot from trap beast.

And again, the DPS difference between the back bar for:
bow- 52k trial dummy parse ( i tried with a masters bow instead of maelstrom, and used the poison inject, and got about 55k)
2 hander 53k trial dummy parse
lighting staff - 62k trial dummy parse
flame staff - 68k trial dummy parse

My stupid bars for this PTS as of 8.1.1

I'm at work, but I can add some CMX data later.
    Race- Dunmer
Mundas- Thief (not enough crit to use the other options)
    All points in stam
Food- Green stam food on dummy, or salt-rice in content
Standard CP with backstabber swap for Fighting Fitness

    I'm wearing:
    Coral Rip Tide- body
Storm Fist- I run to dry with any other option surprisingly- I try to keep it at 34/33% stamina emptied
    Maelstorm Weapon

and for front bar, I'm playing around with Unfathomable Darkness, or the super meta Kinras. Because I suck at light attacks, and I have to run so many dots on the back bar, I get more DPS with Unfathomable Darkness currently.
No kilt- just cus I don't wear it in content and my crit is good enough- I'm testing for myself and data that would make sense to what I wear for the content I do. (*I have nothing against kilt parse data, I just don't use it for my own personal data)

More than likely I'll probs just wear coral + tzog so I can free my bar up from trap, again, loose a little bleed DPS and be able to run the PVE content I typically do (vet 4man DLCs, and solo arenas).

The weapons are very steep. Enough to make me who doesn't care about bleeding edge DPS, double take and have to use it over other options.

My builds are typically 'this gets the job done, I don't die easily to my mistakes in combat, and my DPS is fairly decent'. Or at least I try to keep them that way.

Basically what I'm getting is that stam is slowly losing its identity, and that's not good game design.

Hybridization means exactly that, there is no stamina or magicka identity any more. That is precisely the outcome that ZOS wanted.

I bet DK whip costing mag AND stam this patch is a precursor to ALL skills costing mag/stam in the future. At that point the identity is truly gone, and everyone puts 32 in to mag and 32 in stam.

This, and it's actually a terrific change for the game long-term. Having identity built around a resource was stupid at best. Classes struggled to maintain any identity at all because of the balance issues surrounding Mag/Stam delineation. Having class identity be at the forefront is decidedly better overall, because it encourages more use of class skills regardless of resource. The only issue is it leaves most classes with cookie cutter setups, but that can slowly be worked on later.

"Stam" as an archetype or playstyle is officially dead in PvP thanks to the Resolving Vigor rework. It was already being pushed out by high-mobility roll-spamming mag-leaning hybrids, but now it no longer even exists. The only stam weapon skill you see much in PvP is Whirling Blades, which is also the only execute skill you see much.
