What am I missing here?

So I am watching this video:

https://youtu.be/qWhHEq1eLBc

Disregarding the overbearing amount of sarcasm about how easy and basic this rotation apparently is, I am not a big parser or endgame raider of anything, so I legitimately don't know.

Is this not pretty much what you do on live right now, only casting the DoTs more frequently? Buffs, DoTs, then LA Weave Spammable until Buffs and DoTs need to be refreshed, rinse repeat?

In this video, there seems to just be...MORE LA Weave Spammable, since the Dots last longer. Or is there something else there that I am missing because I don't know what to look for..?

Like...besides casting DoTs every 10 seconds instead of 20, what do you do differently on Live that makes a rotation so much more complex than what is shown in this video? Or is it merely having to cast the Dots more frequently that provides all of the "complexity" of dps rotations? Is it literally ALL about Actions Per Minute?

To my ignorant eyes, perhaps the extended DoT duration has simply just exposed the overall flaws in the ESO combat system?

What am I missing?

It's boringly simple you just drop your 20s DoTs and Spam weave till you reapply.

There's no secret sauce. It's just longer boring rotations for less damage.

So on Live, you just drop your 10s DoTs and Spam Weave till you reapply?

And nothing more than the DoTs only lasting 10s(and thus needing to be reapplied more frequently) is what makes it more complex/engaging?

Has it always been just that simple?

Pretty much, you need to be aware of your buffs as well but they all last for 5 years now.

I think if you are running NB it's just spam weaving with bow procs every so often then refresh your dots when they're about to drop off. Rotate that till you get to execute phase and then just spam execute.

I'm a Warden main so my 5 year rotation is a bit different. But for you the above should work.

Eso's rotations were fast paced and interesting. That's what made combat fun for many players, and for those that didn't enjoy it, they'd steer clear of Necro and DK, and play classes with more burst like Warden, Templar (to some extent), and Stam Sorc. It had a good balance of difficult but rewarding builds that used a lot of dots, and easier builds that were more bursty or used alternative skills, like pet sorcs for example. There were also a variety of flavors when it came to Dot and Aoe durations on abilities. Between 8 seconds and 22 seconds. Most were 10, but many were 12, 14, 15, and 20 (or 22 with passives).

By making them all uniformly 20 seconds, it removes choice and makes less variety in gameplay. It doesn't just make it boring, as people say. I agree it does. But it also makes choice matter much less, and further trims branches off of ESO's build diversity tree. At this point, it seems like ZoS is hell bent on streamlining this tree of build diversity so much that it becomes a palm tree. Maybe it already has.

if you apply 3 dots and some self buff over 10 seconds, with 1 second global cooldown thats at least 4 -5 seconds then 5-6 spammable weave; and thats discounting dealing with mechanics ,so a lot of time maybe 2-3 seconds of actual spammable window. changing that to 15-16 second spammable weave is actually massive difference, thats a REeally long time to not need bar swaps and/or skill management. its a really big change: count to 16 Mississippi imagining same button mash... how is this not just super obvious?
