25% Nerf to Lightning Staves ?

The standard Lightning heavy attack consists of 3 damage 'ticks' then 1 final hit, which make up the full heavy attack channel.

On PTS this has been changed to only 2 'ticks ' plus the final hit.

No mention of this in patch notes or any explanation for the change.

As someone who, like many, have disabilities or restricted use of hands the lightning heavy attack style was favoured by myself for its simplicity.

You said that ' you had not forgotten HA builds ', is this what we get, a silent 25% nerf ?

PTS - 2 damage ticks;

LIVE - 3 damage ticks

does this same thing happen to resto staves? and losing an entire tick would be 33% loss (3 ticks and losing 1 is 33% dmg)

not to mention all the ranged light and heavy attacks do 10% reduced dmg to begin with

so all in all lightning staves (and possibly resto too) is getting closer to a 45% nerf

Was the time it takes for a fully charged heavy reduced to compensate for the damage lost? I'm a console peasant so I can't check myself.

They also took a tick from Jabs and Flurry, my best guess is to handle the stamina drain from blocking in pvp? (if this is even a true, i'm not sure about it)

Oh, they did not forget to nerf HA builds. So, for a certain point of view, what they said is exactly right.

Lightning staff heavy attack builds are dead this patch. If this is how you played the game, forget it. It simply won't work anymore.

Thats what I played in the past 6 years.

I cant even believe Dev nerfed non meta play style this update , thats impossible.

Whatever happened to the ZOS moto of "Play how you want"?? I get that you technically can still play how you want but the OP states there are people with different restrictions but despite this they have found a way they can still compete. Yet they do something like this and could actually stop people playing, I hope ZOS are reading this thread and can see its not always about pleasing people but in some cases genuinely making the game either extremely hard or maybe even impossible to play for some people and that would be a sad way for them go. ESO should be for everyone so I hope the OP gets some resolution.

Is the channel time the same on PTS as on Live? I did some testing yesterday but forgot to check that.

Looks the same time but 3 hits only.

Feels a little different but the same amount of time to cast.

Yeah I just tested on the PTS and the channel time is the same 2s.

From my testing thus far with a MagSorc using Relequen, Unweaver & Kilt, I'm lucky if I can get to 60k DPS. I need to test set & gear combos because what I'm using isn't really optimised (e.g. using Rele 5-piece body when I could be using 3 Unweaver pieces for the extra crit & pen).

I'm going to give Sergeant's Mail a try, but the 2- and 3-piece bonuses being tank oriented are a solid negative. I don't see why those bonuses can't be updated to be DPS oriented as other Heavy Armour set bonuses have been in the past to account for their intended usage. At least I'll be able to drop Silver Shards for another DoT, so that may help a fraction.
