A while before the U35 patch notes were released, I saw another poll on the forums asking how people felt about the upcoming changes. Now that a number of us have tried the PTS, do you like, dislike or have mix/neutral feelings about the combat changes- if so why? Were you excited or hesitant about the combat changes before, and did the patch notes or gameplay change your mind?

I posted my own opinion in the feedback thread, I greatly dislike this update and hope it doesn't go through, since it pushes down mid and low tier players and makes rotations as well as the game more difficult than they need to be.

Not only do I dislike them, the only people I've seen say they like them fall into 2 categories: 1) HAHA all those meta-humping whiners will get knocked down a peg, so I love these changes!
    2) Fundamentally misunderstand what the changes do. Some people who are bad at weaving or have poor dps in general are convinced this change means their damage will go up and content will be easier for them. All testing on pts so far indicates otherwise.

While this is a great way to decrease damage to combat power creep, it actually made it harder for people not at the top to get there (note: I haven’t messed with changing anything in my builds yet but its not like last patch where I had a plan. I’m just kinda stuck right now). I have so many questions and so little answers.

DK is not nerfed enough but it's a start, Caluurion halved from stealth. Oakensoul nerfed (I liked it but DK whip and Cloak ruin it). Some too strong coming, so it needs to be toned down.
Some new animations, that need polishing but atleast something new. I don't like dot nerf, longer buffs are nice. I'm Mixed, less light/heavy dmg so everyone just gonna be a bit weaker. Whatever.

EDIT: Ohh and healers nerfed, so that's on +

i would say im mixed, certain parts i think are fine, but all of it mixed together is just a bad recipe

the light/heavy change im indifferent on

the dot/buff lasting longer is a major +

the decreased dot dmg and decreased tick rate is a major -

I read the notes and knew it would be rubbish, since they nerfed my dots and my heavy attacks which is crucial to my PvE playstyle. Of course, I had to test it to be sure. After testing for two days, combat is very dull and my damage just isn't where it needs to be to even be decent in Vet dungeons.

If this goes live, I'm going to go anonymous on ESOlogs and will probably stop playing DPS in vet content.

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

Overall, I expected something way worse, so um... I kinda um... like it ? No, I guess it is not the right think to say. I like the fact that it is not as bad as I thought it will be. I mean, for me personally.

Overall it is kinda mixed. I like nb changes. I think the class will finally recover after Elsweyr update, that kinda gutted them - although no changes to Consuming Darkness is kinda weird.

On the other hand, I dislike buffs to some um..."disliked" proc sets and introduction of new way, way more toxic ones that won't be healthy for the game.

I Also dislike that some things were kinda over-nerfed and it is also bad for the game.

    I dislike the changes.

My general week in ESO is primarily doing Overland Content with the occasional Group Event/Group Content/Soloing Group Content mixed in.

Overland Content might not be as challenging as I might like but, it is generally relaxing to go out and use the abilities I've been using for years.

Overland Content is still easy even if you use abilities that have taken hits on the PTS but, it's no longer as familiar due to the changes to abilities and several of the changes make the abilities less fun in my view.

Most of my builds feel like they are worse at group stuff and will likely continue to be worse even with adjustments that will change how they play in ways that run against how I want to play. I don't want to be the healer that's telling people stay in my circle.

I'd rather see them do weaving properly and explain it to players in the tutorial instead of this. If they made combat feel more responsive and give more indicators to what is actually happening with LA and HA and abilities that would be much better than just simplifying everything.

The changes they promote is not bad - butt the changes they do are )))

If just some damage was removed from La and moved in fighter guild rune with more proc of hegemonius status effect - it even can be good changes.

But even god will not understand who why and for what reason make this ? )))

    Whyyyyy ????

Even some animations was changed - player hits 2 times and make 4 hits = all the changes looks the same bad for me =)))

amd look on vigor yellow morph ))) It lose power with leveling )))

Or HA - it was changed it now do 3 hits not 4 on lightning staff.

It is ninja fix that kills lightning staff !

Skills with durations 35/24/20/15 seconds ... simpler rotation ? )))

I agree with the general goal here, to narrow the skill gap and increase relative accessibility. Reducing APM would be a welcome change for a large part of the player base.

But this patch does neither of those things. A general DPS nerf for everyone means that all group content is harder. It means that low-DPS players won't just drag you down a bit -- they'll cripple your ability to complete the content at all. If anything, this will incent guilds and trials groups to be even more selective in who they allow to participate.

ZOS has a long history of guardrail-to-guardrail balance patches, with sweeping changes that wreck classes and builds. They also tend to ignore player feedback on this stuff. They've already said our complaints are "tiresome." Don't expect them to change course based on what a bunch of us idiots say.

I can't say whether I like them or dislike them yet, but I disagree with the premise that the game needs to be made more accessible. I think the great majority of content is already super accessible and there are many levels of diffculty once you move up the ladder, certainly compared to the early days. That's what you want. You need to give people something to strive for. I remember, in the early days, me and my friends were really stuck on White Gold Tower. This was before there was such a thing as a normal mode. We were desperately stuck. Couldn't get past the planar inhibitor fight. However the last thing we wanted was for it to be nerfed. Once we started biting pieces of WGT, we wanted to improve and get the achievement, rather than have ZOS nerf the content for us. Constantly shifting goal posts are not good for your sense of accomplishment.
