Maintenance for the week of January 13:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – January 13
The maintenance is complete, and the PTS is now back online and patch 10.3.0 is available.

a wild guess - this patch is not about adjusting the skillgap

Instead its about improving server-performance by cutting client-traffic in half by normalising lightattacks, reducing dot and hot frequencies and increasing the corresponding effect-durations.

I think you're right, and they are also pushing this "close the skill gap" line but in reality they're trying to nerf damage (again) across the board. They're getting by on a technicality that 6-11% of 100k is more than 6-11% of 40k dps. It shrinks the skill gap in quite possibly the smallest way imaginable.

I don't buy it. If a dev was looking to nefariously improve server performance, they'd logically increase boss damage, wipe mechanics and PVP burst. Dead players don't cause lag.

The skill gap argument is one of the worst red herrings out there. The accessibility argument is the better argument to have. These current changes do nothing to address either of those issues.

Of course there’s going to be a skill gap when people put hundreds of hours into perfecting DPS and hundreds of reps in content. It’s only natural to expect that players that play more and spend time perfecting their craft would naturally just be better at the game.

Players that can access the content have no chance to get reps therefore no need to actually hone any sort of skill. The gap will grow wider as it always continues to grow because the top players will co to us to pile up to reps compared to the middle and low tier players.

    Nothing changes.
