Not intended behaviour I think, probably doesn't rise to the severity of exploitation though

Also I managed to often get continuous spawns (if you kill watchlings before their portal closes, immediately spawns a new one) by spamming cleave, as a bonus it helps to spread out spawn times a bit, so all packs won't spawn at once an no one will "steal" them.
Took me something around ten hours total, I think, at the top right isle of the Atoll. Can confirm that such a source for a lead is horrible.

I'm doing a similar farm where I can consistently kill (6) Watchlings every 75 seconds, and another (2) every five minutes. I did this farm for just over four hours last night, and only had one or two hiccups from people coming through and killing the adds that I was farming.
That's (312) per hour * four hours = 1,248 Watchlings killed
NO LEAD
Not only are the Watchlings found in limited places, but you also have to contend with the fact that the aren't guaranteed to drop ANY loot at all. Over the course of four hours I saw roughly (1) Watchling drop loot per (12) killed so I was only averaging one chance for a loot drop per two circuits on my farming route.
1248 / 12 = 104 chances at looting the lead
NO LEAD
This is just par for the course with the new trend where it seems like ZOS is actively trying to find ways to drive players away from the game. Between putting leads in strongboxes in one zone, or treasures chests in one single public dungeon, or this silly lead, I'm finding myself less and less inclined to keep playing. It just feels like ZOS does not respect the people who play this game and they are just trying to see how far they can push us. I'll give it another go tonight and if the lead doesn't drop then I'll simply move on without it. I don't play games to be frustrated by poor implementation of "features."

Yeah, that's exactly my point. I see that they should make you spend an amount of time searching these leads but it seems that every new mythic released becomes more and more difficult to get leads from. These are by far the most difficult and annoying ones, they should really rethink this drop rates, or at least give us more options.
adrianolara wrote: »I mean, finding many of these Watchlings are already a hard task, but even when you figure out a way and kill them non stop for 2 hours and even this way you won't drop it, it's really frustrating.
Here's a video of a method I came up with to spawn them real fast. I've been using this method for about 2h straight non stop, killed more than A THOUSAND of them (if my maths check out) and haven't drop the lead!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCq7rPUEsLY
Please ZOS, we need a buff on this drop rate! This can't be right...

I got the lead in this exact spot also. But you don’t have to let yourself die. If you run straight across there is another identical group that spawns a couple of watchlings. Kill the watchlings, run across, kill the other watchlings, then run away a bit (I would go down the lava shore line.) They will all reset back to their original spots. Rinse and repeat. Just be careful not to kill the daedra guys that spawn the watchlings.
Make sure to get rid of all other golden leads before you start farming new ones. There may or may not be a bug with having a hard time getting new golden leads if old ones exist in your list. Call it superstition if you want but i got all leads for Mora's and Oakensoul within a couple hours total and Wading Kilt in less than an hour back in the days. Prove me wrong.

Edit: sorry for that emotional answer but my nerves are breaking
Finally got this one the other day, had to have killed 2k+ watchlings.
The watcher lead is now the one giving me trouble. Too few spawn locations for a proper grind.
