No, these are not spoilers. These are guesses. Seriously. In every chapter, there is an "unexpected turn" associated with betrayal. So it will be here. Lord Bacaron summoned the kings to High Island specifically to kill them all together.

It's a spoiler because you've revealed we don't know he is by the end and who is a primary suspect. I was pretty annoyed seeing this as a title as I had avoided storyline spoilers until now. Quite unhappy.

It looks like a spoiler to people who haven't played much of High Isle yet, but actually it's just a very vague speculation, nothing more than a shot in the dark. I mean, of course the "Ascendant Lord" would be some kind of nobleman, and there aren't that many in the story, so if we assume some kind of betrayal, there aren't many to choose from.

Don't know in other langages but in French the two have clearly the same voices if you listen carefully through the "helmet effect."

And all the others clues you've all noticed :
    - the fact that he'll won in all cases, as he's playing on both sides. It's actually quite nice storywise speaking ... just ruined by the fact that we already guessed it in 5 seconds :D (Except if the story end with the war hotter than ever or if he's not the ascendant lord of course.)
    - the fact that the 2 are always leaving at the perfect time, disappearing enough time for the other one to do something. Especially at the end when Bacaro take billions years to regroup his useless knights and achieve it only when we've already finished, peacefully waiting next to his manor "Oh, I missed the fight ? So sad ... Anyway, my men will secure the area now  "

I noticed and speculated on that as well. It's sort of like... "I'm not saying I'm Batman. I'm just saying noone has seen us in the same room together."

    Agree. And also
remember that time when we save his men delivering something to the castle? Near the start of the story. Ascendant knights knew exactly where they were, and lord Bacaron then says that he specifically instructed those men to not resist at any cost, just run. And yes, he hadn't given them guards. So, either he is just peaceful to the point of being stupid, or he just didn't want his men to die from the hands of, well, also his men.

At this point I'm just interested what his motivation is exactly. Maybe it's silly of me, but I have a theory: he genuinely wants to make peace between factions. To do that, he orchestrated the whole thing to create a common enemy for every leader, every alliance.

Maybe even little adventure on Amenos was needed to create some sort of a bond between leaders. To make them forget that they are rivals and royalty, and just work together to survive. But that may be a bit too much, I know.

If that's the case, lord Bacaron would be a fantasy version of Peacemaker, willing to kill women, children and so on to achieve peace :D

Ah, so I see that, like me, a lot of people suspect Lord Bacardi. I wouldn't be too surprised if devs saw this and added a plot twist to confound us: he gets murdered in the prologue to the next zone DLC.
In case Baccarat isn't the buckethead villain, my second guess, based on how the baddie's voice sounds, is the man under the mask is Anakin Skywalker.

There was an Archcanon in Morrowind. Nocturnal betrayed the Triad in Summerset. In Elsweyr, we learn that Cadwell was a scoundrel and a traitor in his lifetime. Here, rather, we are talking about the fact that in each chapter there is a "sudden" traitor in one form or another.
