This ring isn't autoplay. Yes, it's strong (really strong in some case), but you need to know how to use it first, and a good 2 bar player will always outperform a 1 bar player.
Not in laggy environments. Barswapping is one of the most unreliable things in high ping combat. (a big fight in Cyrodiil for example).
2 bar player needs to barswap and maintain uptimes on skills on the backbar. 1 bar player with Oakensoul never have to barswap and only manage 6 skills. Laggy environments will favor the Oakensoul user. The ring is pretty strong in PvE, and extremely strong in PvP. I can't remember a mythic item being so good in both PvE and PvP before.

I just hope they won't nerf the ring to uselessness in both PvP and PvE. (and the nerf will come for sure, when the time for new mythics come). I hope they can somehow nerf it in PvP only, maybe add Major and Minor Defile? That barely makes a difference in PvE. And a debuff that greatly reduces your critical resistance (which does absolutely nothing in PvE).

IMO, the elites whining about Oakensoul in pvp are the same people who had no problem last week going 100kills to 1 death against the very same players that they are now struggling against.

It's a problem when players who get absolutely wrecked suddenly improve substantially, not by their own skill, but because of 1 item. At that point take skill out of the game even more than it already is and just run gear items against one another. PvP can just become a game of who can time their 2 button + proc combo the best. (Not justifying the imbalances that allowed players to achieve 50 - 0 KDA in the first place, but I just don’t agree with 1 OP item running the whole game. "Play what you want, but not without this ring!").

Why does it matter if people improve by skill or by gear? Aren't you happy to have more people to fight against instead of just killing everyone within seconds?

Whenever things in PvE change i love to update my builds accordingly, micromanaging everything is what brings the most fun to me. For PvP it looks like people hate getting more competitors and to change their builds because suddenly someone is able to kill them even with lower skills.

If you're really a PvP veteran show them that skill can make a difference: Improvise, adapt, overcome.

Because people wanna have fun and engaging fights. That's like saying dark convergence pvp was fun when it first came out when dark convergence 1 shotted you no matter how many people were in the AOE. It allowed lower skilled players to match higher skilled but the pvp was not even remotely fun because pvp like that isn't fun or engaging. The same goes for brokensoul.

    1. You don't/shouldn't build something for a small minority that can't play the game well, when that change has such a large impact on the game as a whole..same can be said in real life...plenty of games to play out there, or non competitive systems in ESO.
    2. Major Heroism is broken, and should have been minor. ZOS knows this, but you know...presales.
    3. Stop blaming the PvP community for ZOS mistakes, we play competitively. Blame falls on ZOS.
    4. Oakensoul+Volendrung is lol...ZOS had to know this.

I seriously don't like it. The gap between a good player and terrible player is getting smaller and smaller. Everything is being HANDED to them. How about zenimax introduces a mythic item that plays the game for you. The games actually so casual now. Its so boring. No sense of achievement in doing literally anything when these things exist. Theres nothing competitive about this game anymore. Such a shame from what it used to be.

Well if you don't want the ring in PVP aren't there no CP/no proc campaigns where it is not working?...

I knew just by looking at the thread title I’d find a bunch of pvpers moaning and complaining it’s OP.

I’m all for anything in any game that helps less able people be it physically or mentally be able to compete. It’s an optional item , you don’t need to run it.

The fact pvp players all run the same two classes for the majority because they’re broken in cyro are complaining about a mythic for pve that makes the game more accessible and inclusive is laughable.

your post is misguided. i'd call it silly (or worse), but you obviously don't play PvP, so i know it's just ignorance..

first of all it's not our fault (PvP-ers) that some classes are above others in PvP. why would you not choose a class that is better than others? do you want people to deliberately gimp themselves so there would be an equilibrium of classes in PvP? how many PvE-ers are playing Argonian DDs? not that many. why? 'cause there are way better races for DDs. do you remember when (almost) everyone was a Khajiit not that long ago? you see, if you want to be competitive you pick a class or race that is better. end of..

that ring (Oakensoul) can make "less able" players better. we do not dispute that. but do you know what +430 weapon/spell damage and +20% weapon/spell damage and +10% all damage done and +12% crit. chance and +20% crit. damage and minus 10% damage taken and +3 Ultimate every 1.5 seconds and 15% to all recovery stats AT ALL TIMES can do when a good player knowing what he/she is doing equips the ring? you do not, obviously, since you don't do PvP. obviously. this ring is broken AF in PvP. not when a casual or new player equips it. but when a good player does it's good bye and good night. you can't possibly know it, since you don't play PvP. but imagine for a second that for everyone else not wearing the ring you have (usually) one bar for damage and one bar for heals/buffs. so to get some (not all) of those buffs included in Oakensoul you have to swap bars. player wearing Oakensoul doesn't and gets more buffs than you AT ALL TIMES. Oakensoul wearers don't have to watch their buff uptimes. usually when you drop your buffs in PvP you die. so while wearing the ring in PvP you get more buffs that 2-bar setups without having to worry about silly uptimes, server lags when you click bar swap but the game says no, nothing bothers you. i have been on the receiving end of that situation. it sucks. but you don't know. you don't do PvP..

I didn't feel like reading all this but I don't understand the whole argument. Why not just suggest that they add 2 more things to ring. 1. While equipped you deal 20 percent less damage to players and 2. While equipped you receive 20 percent more damage from players. Numbers maybe need adjustment but that would be simple solution to nerf ring for pvp while keeping it the same for pve.

Everyone has access to the same tools in PVP, so why don't they just get whatever it is that they think is OP at the moment? Tools help but better players are just better players.

Also nerfing this ring significantly after players who actually *need* it and have come to rely on it would be cruel.

Guys, they *know* exactly what they're doing when they release broken mythics in pvp.

This is completely intended because they want our money.
No one I know would buy a snorefest chapter release full price if it wasn't for must have mythics. Murkmire has been basically cyrodiil v2 the past few days on ps. Once again, the greater eso community massively underestimates the money that pvp injects into the game. Zos knows though.

I would welcome a new chapter release with pve only mythics.
I would also bet every drop of gold I own that it would be the worst selling dlc in eso history.

there is no way i can think of to get
    • Major Berserk
    • Major Brutality
    • Major Courage
    • Major Force
    • Major Heroism
    • Major Protection
    • Major Prophecy
    • Major Resolve
    • Major Savagery
    • Major Sorcery
    • Minor Endurance
    • Minor Fortitude
    • Minor Intellect

at the same time on one character. if you are in a group someone else can provide some of those buffs for you (on top of your own), but at least i am very much mistaken you can't get ALL those buffs on one character without using Oakensoul ring..

    Easiest solution to the Oakenproblem.

When Battlespirit is active... Major Heroism is deactivated on ring.

    See... that wasn't so hard.

so a bad player that pays for content shouldn't get a chance at it's rewards?
doesn't help that to nerf good players pulling 140k "bad" players that are pulling 60-80k get punished has well.
this ring wont make bad players do 140k, it will help them learn the game, so pubs arent horrible.

    Greetings all,

After reviewing this thread, seeing as it is mostly derailed into Baiting and back and forth arguments, we have gone ahead and closed it down. While we understand suggestions for changes to items in ESO can be rather divisive topics, discussion and debates must stay within the Forum's Community Rules. We welcome respectful debates, but Baiting, Flaming, or otherwise provoking conflict is never acceptable on the ESO Forums.
