There's the hint of Khajiit in her accent but she didn't grow up in Elsweyr so her speech patterns are generically Tamrielic, which makes sense. When I first saw the image of her and heard that she would approve of crime, I thought she would be a grimdark serious hardened mercenary type, but I like this gleeful orphan with a troubled past thing way better.PC NA, CP2200+. Character creation is the true endgame.9 -

moleculardrugs✭✭✭✭Ember grew up in the streets. She had to do anything to survive. The fact that she had to make herself sound less Khajiit to escape prejudice and get things for food and help speaks volumes about her character. I love her voice as she is.4 -

Mascen✭✭✭✭I've tried to hold off on giving my two cents until I could fully analyze things and articulate the qualms in a polite manner but yes, Ember's VA sounds waaay off.
I have no qualms with expanding the voice actors in game and acknowledge as @starlizard70ub17_ESO pointed out we have had Zhasim in Orsinium voiced by the legendary Steve Blum who doesn't speak with khajiti mannerisms. However Blum speaks as Zhasim with a Orcish grit yet also an inflection similar to the deeper khajiti voice actors.
Now in regards to Ember and her voice actors performance, everything mentioned above that works for Zhasim gets thrown out the window. Ember's VA pitch and timbre sound nothing like the broad array of Khajiit voices in game and if anything sounds like a higher voice Breton or Bosmer. Perhaps it would be more believeable if spoken with more of a traditional Khajiti burr and I could buy that Ember picked up a Systres accent from her time on High Isle, but the accent the VA uses for her is.....alien. The cadence and pronunciation have a lit that sounds nothing like anyone else on High Isle or the rest of Tamriel for that matter; like its from the wrong game/universe. I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly what it reminds me of from the real world. Its like American-foreigner whose first language is a Latin rooted romance language. I wanna say Spanish or French?
Point is I and alot of others it seems find it very jarring and maybe ZOS should fix it or at least learn from this for future VA castings.

✭✭After this thread made me expect the worse—I LOVE Ember and her voice acting! She has a khajiiti accent in a more subtle way that totally makes sense for her background and works.

Nah she doesn't sound Khajiiti at all, she sounds like a high pitched American voicing a Breton or a Wood Elf with a strange accent. Like i said above its in the vibrating timbre of the khajiti voices; similiar in a way like how argonians sound raspy and gravelly because both are beastfolk and as such their differences also affect their speech and pronunciation hence the Elsweyr burr we call the khajiti accent.
As for the reachfolk, yeah they went for the typical Glaswegian accent most Americans think all Scottish people sound like with the elongated vowels and rolling r's. It sounds nice but personally I think ZOS should've gone for something a bit more airy and Scandinavian. Less stereotypic German like Angof and some of the Western Skyrim Norda VAs0 -

✭✭✭✭✭Having finally spent a bit more time with Ember, as I've been focusing on leveling Isobel (who I think is absolutely awesome btw)... and have to agree about her voice. Although, I'm not talking 'weird' as in that it's not Khajiit... I'm saying weird in that she sounds like a child. Not just the whining tonal her voice has, but the, "Am I in trouble" just makes her seem even more like a child. ✭✭Somehow I feel that companions voices are extensions of their backstories.
Mirri is anxious, occasionally passive-aggressive and not easy to get along with, but she is agreeable (so she says). She is, however, very capable with the right build.
Bastian is good to the point of being too good, but he does ask you if you're alright after a fight. He is a good match for a lawful good character.
Isobel (my current favourite) is a knight. What's not to like. My lawful good Templar has put Baz on the bench for her atm.
Ember is a breath of fresh air. I for one like the absence of classic Khajiit dialect and phrasing as I feel that that would be rather cliché. She is what she is, rather young and very enthusiastic. Well done!
Ember is however an enigma to me. With her racial passives one will try to do a classic two dagger approach as she might be a mage now but an assassin she might be.4 -
