GAMEPAD MODE CONFUSION

Sooo juust checking, how many of us may have just clicked the YES option to game-pad mode thinking that on the PC SERVER the game would intuitively pick the option suitable to the majority of pc players, and then had a merry time getting things back to pc and keyboard version? The poll btw is anonymous.

I was confused about why this option was even there because I had never run into it before. But I knew I didn't want this option so I chose no.

I am confused why you would just click yes on a new screen without reading the details. I can understand clicking NO without reading details...but clicking yes???

When I saw the option I read what was being said. I even clicked an option. Then, I stopped and re-read what was being said. Being a person with a disability and having an understanding of the word "accessibility," I opted for "Yes."

The dialog to make the choice tells you clearly that the Gamepad UI will be enabled if you opt for Accessibility Mode.

I am not sure how the OP correlates "Accessibility Mode" with the game intuitively selecting what is "suitable to the majority of PC players," but each one of us reads thing differently, I suppose.

I never click an option in any software (game or otherwise) without fully reading what is being said.

We received a pop-up that we had to answer choosing to use this mode or not when trying to log in.

    From the patch notes:

    New Accessibility Mode
We’ve added a new pre-game screen, which appears prior to the login screen, that offers the option to select Accessibility Mode. When choosing this mode you will automatically be swapped to use the Gamepad UI, but the keybinds will be adjusted for whatever input is being used (keyboard or gamepad). If you decide you don’t want to use this, you can disable in the Options menu.

You are now also able to move around all pre-game UI screens and elements using only digital inputs (such as keyboard or D-pad keypresses) or analog inputs (such a mouse or gamepad control stick).

i selected no, then went in to settings and set gamepad mode back to auto, because i flop between both depending on what i'm doing.

Main play, Gamepad, because i can't use keyboard and mouse for the more demanding content.

Crafting? Sure, i like the inventory management better and it's not like i can't use a keyboard and mouse for such an undemanding task, just not for slapping out a rotation on a boss.

I read the patch notes, so I knew what was going on, but the message on the screen was pretty explanatory anyway. Though I could definitely see someone hastily clicking the first tick box because they want to eagerly open the game.

You can still download the patch and choose the option. It kept telling me the server was down but let me get that far.

Didn't mater that I chose "no" as my screen was still the wrong size and text was off the screen as well as character. Will have to look at it when the server comes back. :(

Not gonna lie, I skimmed that like I skimmed this post.

Skimming has led me to a lot of annoyance, but I probably won't stop. Zos could tell me I was selling my soul and I would've completely missed it.

ahhh, ok. I gave it a try and it clearly states accessibility mode, and say it will enables the controller, so I have no clue what the OP is going on about. Also as someone who uses controller, but switches to keyboard/mouse for selling I don't see how the OP has never noticed the option to switch in the menu by hitting escape.

I read it and selected no.

However I have to wonder why they can't do an accessibility option that uses a mouse and keyboard, after all they used mouse and keyboard when programming the game. Well, maybe they program using a gamepad, that would explain where all the bugs come from.

I think most people actually read the prompts.

And the implication of what's "right for the majority of PC players" is kinda not cool.

The accessibility mode was meant for disabled players who may need use different input devices or combinations of input devices to have a comfortable time playing.

I still don't understand why you picked Yes for gamepad mode, knowing you didn't want to use it, and then expected the game to counter your decision and use the keyboard and mouse UI anyway.

    That doesn't make sense.

It absolutely does. It tells you clearly "You are about to change to the Gamepad UI" and you have to agree, a second time.

It's super, super clear if you take like.. 5 seconds to read what comes up on the screen.

And about midway down it should have an option for your UI layout.

I like to leave it set to Keyboard but bind a key like B to switch between UIs instead of allowing it to automatically.

This lets the UIs work a lot better with addons in my experience.

Well, I don't think it's very reasonable to expect a detailed list of every UI change. They explain the general changes it will make well enough.

Is it just enabling gampad or is it different? Will it make every menu available to use with a gamepad? What are all the accessibility features it is enabling?

In general it is fine. That I agree with.

It's different, it allows the keyboard to navigate all menus in the gamepad UI.

Every menu was previously usable with a gamepad, that much I know for certain.

And I don't want to explain every thing it changes, ZOS already did that in the patch notes very clearly.

I ticked yes to try it.
If you do not have a controller plugged in, it gives interface of controller setting.
You have to use the arrow up and down buttons on keyboard to scroll through the options, when you land on the option you want press E to confirm. Hope that might help someone out with understanding it just a little more.
I think this will be great for those who do use a controller as it is much easier to navigate with it. If you like the scroll over the mouse drag, this is for you too :P

I think I clicked no but I never got to log in and I play using a gamepad. It's just when I see accessibility it usually means something different. I have no idea what I was supposed to click.
