Can we please get SOME consistency on endeavors creature types?

Seriously. Today's endeavor reads, "Kill 10 Insects or Arachnids". The pop-up explainer reads, "Kill hoarvors, kwama, and other monstrous insects and spiders blah blah blah."

... So what do we have.

Crabs. Nope. Ok, the task does say "insects or arachnids", which is roughly equivalent to "murines and cetaceans" if mapped onto mammals, not arthropods, but, ooook, crustaceans are not mentioned...
Dreughs. Nope. Not sure whether they are "monstrous insects" or "monstrous crustaceans" (or something else, after all, they were more like squids than arthropods in Daggerfall)...
Wasps. Nope. ... Ok. Now that is da***.
Fetcherfly hive. Check. DA*** when compared to wasps.

Now, it gets funnier.

Shroom Beetle. Check. Ok.
Giant scorpion. Check. Ok.
Scorpion 1-hit passive mob. Nope. D*A*****???

as far as im aware the 1hp critters dont count for any endeavors except generic "kill X enemies with class abilities" or "...weapon abilities"

i do agree though that some of the mob categories dont always appear accurate, i just go for one of the ones specifically mentioned in the endeavor help text since those are generally guaranteed to work lol

like barbaric enemies mentions like lamia, but it doesnt work for actual human barbarian enemies

They are usually keyed to the types of mobs you have to kill for the character achievements under Nature Slayer and other things for Monster Hunter.

It is not consistent with the real world, because they sometimes change words to suit their own desires (e.g. “humanoid”), but it is generally consistent with the game categories there.

All these silly endeavors should be unified as "Kill X monsters ..." What a pain when it's one of those weird ones and have to deal with half server running around all desperate for a tag

Wasps don't work?? I literally did this endeavor only killing wasps in Deshaan. It was the first and only thing I killed in game this morning until the endeavor was complete.

Crabs are not insects... There is no rough equivalence, a crab is not an insect. I believe Dreughs are crustacean esque in ES. Crustaceans are not insects.

Dreugh provide fish so apparently they are crustaceans.

I agree that wasps and fetcherfly swarms should count.

There is an endeavor for non-hostile critters but I forget how it is worded. I wouldn't expect them to count for this, especially since it says "monstrous."

I completed this endeavor by killing the giant frostbite spider and her minions near the beginning of Labyrinthian, twice (doing the group even for the weekly in between.)

Wasps is insects, killed an bunch of them while harvesting.
Critters are the 1 HP stuff like squires, deer, monkeys and small spiders.

Various forms of spider daedra don't count either. Checked after fighting my way through to motif boss, there aren't that many, but my count was 0. Not sure if Mephala wold be happy or not.

Both are arthropods, yes. Some crustaceans like crabs are not insects, yes. But all insects are a subgroup of crustaceans. So some crustaceans are also insects. This is a relatively new discovery and is not how many of us learned about arthropod taxonomy going through school.

I think it's the one where it says you to hunt for stone atros in Craglorn, but if there are any there outside trials or quest areas, they are too well hidden. I recall I just went to Moongrave Fane for those.
