I leave a character in Atoll of Immolation to make farming daily page easier for me. So yes, you can park a toon at the end to make the grind at least a smidge easier.

Looks like purple funishing plans count towards the motif cooldown. Got today one from the first boss chest. Did a couple more boss kills without getting a motif and gave up. I returned a couple of hours later and did some more boss kills. Again, no motif dropped...

Drop rate seems okay, but it feels kind of awful that you can't actually farm these. Feels more like a log in reward than anything else.

If we could farm these the drop rate would have to be much much worse. That penalizes players that might not have a lot of time in game. These styles are meant to feel special not something you can get in the guild traders for a few grand. Even with the one drop a day scenario it won't be long before these are fairly common.
The one drop a day is designed to stretch the players interest in these areas. Its good for the long term health of the game.

But my point was more - a cooldown on drops and a low drop rate are two things done for the same reason IMO. Low drops rates should be for something getting farmed over and over and over all day. Cooldowns should be for something to drop and not be farmed for X amount of time. Doing both seems excessive to me. If they are going to use cooldowns, it should be automatic drop, otherwise just stick with low drop rates and let the game begin.

If they want to do both, then it should work like transmute crystals for rewards of the worthy - automatic drop the first time every 24 hours, then a chance after that.

It truly is just a problem they create to sell more motif books in the crown store. Anyone that wants it now, has to buy it from there or pay someone else to buy it from there for them. You can't farm it yourself that fast b/c of the cooldown and drop rate. You'll pay way more gold buying it in guild traders right now vs gold for crown prices b/c it's new and has that cooldown/drop rate. It keeps the price crazy high the first several weeks to make sure all those "gotta have it now" folks don't decide to just wait a week or two and buy it from guild traders then. Gotta stretch out the high price for longer to make it harder for them to wait. It doesn't effect those of us willing to just wait for the price to come down or get the drops ourselves, but it does make sure to squeeze the other players as much as possible.

Two days thus far, I've farmed for 2 or more hours without a motif chapter dropping. I'm not sure who at Zenimax needs to hear this, however farming a motif drop from a final boss such as the one in a Deadlands portal is quite simply not fun. Kill boss, wait 5 minutes, rinse and repeat. This is a massive game with gobs of content, and yet you insist on adding drops locked behind silly grinds. I've been playing for a long time but more and more I'm starting to find myself less and less inclined to play, and you can be damn sure that this isn't going to get me to rush over to the Crown Store to purchase the style because that's "easier." I think that for the time being, I'll be ignoring this style along with the Ancestral Daedric style. The grind just isn't worth it.

Since I've read this thread I have done the run for two days and got a drop first run of the day. I did get to the boss a little early so had already killed him a couple of times before the day switched over. Then first time and done.

This is my concern, getting anything good locks you out of possible drops from other sources. I have also seen some evidence of that.

I'm guessing its a random chance from portals because it hasnt dropped from me yet?

Does the cooldown only happen once you get the drop?

Getting a purple plan or lead doesnt stop you from getting a motif. I went in yesterday, got a purple plan on second attempt, daedric lead on about 4th, then chest motif on the 6th

There's no 20h cooldown. It resets at the same time as daily quests.

Purple furnishing recipe drop does nothing to motif drop.

This is my concern, getting anything good locks you out of possible drops from other sources. I have also seen some evidence of that.

I have gotten a motif on each of my 4 accounts once per day. I also have multiple purple plans from the end chest as well. I don't think getting one locks you out of the other based on what I'm seeing. The motif seems to be on its own cooldown independent of other drops in that chest.

If you'll notice, the video was from December of last year, well before this event. The information in that video covers many other types of motif drops, but obviously doesn't cover this current drop. This one works differently than many others in a few ways and I wouldn't be surprised if this particular content creator is well aware of the drop rate and cooldown of this one as well. It would be quite impossible to put data from May 2022 into a video from December of 2021.

I haven’t tried multiple toons for this boss, but my experience with doing 4 toons for the Blackwood and Fargrave dailies was that I never got more than one motif page, and oftentimes zero.

Before today I would get a motif page from the Havocrel boss after a few chests but today I was in there for nearly two hours. I got two green furnishing plan drops before I got the motif.

I did not watch the video. If it's unrelated to the topic at hand anyway, there isn't really a reason to do so now either.

Drop rate yesterday was horrendous on ps4 eu.

People were camping for hours no drop. I gave up and went back at 1am and was 4 others there. Dropped first kill. Think theres a complicated loot table here. Whether intentionally or not. Have had better success using a portal compared to travelling to someone in there. So might be a factor. Some communication from zos at all would be nice. But thats wishful thinking. Especially right now.

My luck is so bad with this. Sat there for over an hour. Got the gold enchanting table lead but no motif pages. I understand that they want to keep the motif rare by making it only one a day thing. But they could ease up a little on the drop rate since we can only get it once a day. Why bother with once a day at all, if it will take me the whole day just to get a page anyways lol

I am seeing the same horrendous drop rate today on PS4/NA. I have tried 12 times with no motif drop today. The last few times were on a different alt. Something changed recently, probably sometime yesterday 5/30.

Today there were two guys there claiming they got more than one drop on one toon. One guy said he got 5 in either one hour or two, and of course someone called him a liar. He, of course, kept claiming it was true.

Did they changed something ?

First week : 1 or 2 tries before motif so even if I can get only one page per day, it was ok as it was fast. A bad thing compensated by a good one.

Now this week, I'm always closer to 10 *** tries, taking one hour or more before having my daily page. I haven't got my daily page yet today, after more than 10 tries and more than an hour camping in there and it's starting to *** me off as it's not fun at all.

So it looks like they changed something and now it's just bad and annoying, no more good point to compensate. And seeing previous posts, it looks like I'm not the only one feeling that.
