Ok so i get zos updated TOS to ban the use of TTV and YT in names . But im hearing poeple a been banned for it, like what are they ment to do, Buy a name change token, Alot cant. i think giving name changers to said poeple is what needs to be done. Not giving them 72 hour bans on top.

nvm....I think I figured it out what TTV and YT stand for in this instance.

It's a streamer thing and I couldn't care less about streamers.

Are they actually getted banned or is this just another rumor that has no basis in reality? If it is just a false rumor it would not be the first one.

Zenimax, like other companies that manage MMOs has forced players to change names. They have done this a great many times without banning anyone. The only action they have taken was against an account that merely changed the letter arrangement to essentially say the same thing.

Don't they just ban you long enough to change the name? Like 1 day?

Seems pretty harsh. Should just be a short time so the player pays attention or like an interruption to their login, not a ban like they actually did something serious.

Considering the contents of OP's forums signature, I'm not sure the current duration made them pay attention.

I would call that a suspension, not a ban. I guess we can call it a temporary ban but when just saying they were or are banned seems rather a long-term punishment.

I will also add that we do not know what really happened as there could have been additional issues such as still keeping the acronym in their name.

If you hit the 3 Lines at the top left, under Forums it sometimes will appear the button: Full Site which lets you view it like PC. I don't recommend it, if you want to go back to mobile site, go to the main forum selection page then scroll all the way down, it will be a small line that says go back to mobile site at the bottom left corner.

If it was not against the T&C formerly, and people are being suspended for names they made beforehand, its pretty clearly unfair. I'd be surprised if this was intentional or there wasn't more to the story.

Well this just came out of the blue. I know a few people with YT in their handle which they've had for some time. If ZOS didn't like it, why not just give folks a head up and a change token and make an actual announcement about it, vs this tricksy nonsense?.

Do you have to pay to make a change? Other systems I have been on just force the name change next time you load the character.

    Can't ZOS do that?

I know what TTV and YT stand for. But I don't get why adding this to your name would violate any TOS.

Yeah they've done that in the past. A couple of friends had to change character names and one had to change his user name.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

What I don't understand is I would think they would want us to watch eso on twitch or YouTube.... This just sounds like a lost for them here

How will this affect Xbox GamerTags and PS names?

I'm on Xbox and I see the GT first, the character name is a minor second. Everyone calls each other by GT name and I know people with YT in their GT.
I can't see how a game can have any power over an outside account name, and yet removing YT from character names seems kinda futile on consoles

Seems silly for ZOS to worry about this. (I am still not sure what one of them means.)

go to that popular video site whose name we cant use, and look up the sawmanUK video on this issue. "Zenimax are Banning Content Creators, AGAIN!!!" is what its called. It has screenshots of someone being banned for TTV and goes into the tos, etc. And also questions where this leads (anyone who has their website, any sort of advertising of their content, in their username or character name. Its pretty good.

From the CoC, it is clear that ZOS does not want players advertising their business on ZOS services. Apparently, Twitch and YouTube streamers are considered a business, and those things in names are advertising, at least as far as this conversation is concerned. It makes me wonder what happened that prompted this. That said, I also have to wonder whether Forum signatures will lead to the same disciplinary actions, for the same whatever reason.

Not that a single mod running around policing names (part-time, likely) takes much budget, or would be able to apply their amazing moderating expertise to fixing code. /shrug

I find this whole streaming/"content creation" (/eyeroll) thing to be baffling. The fact that it's turned into an industry, with people trying to earn a living at it (and some making millions) is just another sign that we're in some bizarre dystopian timeline.

It doesnt matter if people don't like streamers and youtubers, it's still messed up they are doing this.

I've met alot of my friends from them seeing a twitch stream of the game and buying it. Do you guys who are against streamers/youtubers NOT want more players or something?

Bug report section of the forum. There are so many bugs now that people are making new threads to compile a list of all the bugs for each part of the game.

I've pinged them at least 5 times to fix one bug and still no response. I guess they're too busy crawling over youtube to find streamers with bad names.

Once again, ZoS manages to royally "ZoS" something up. The fact you cannot add TTV, YT, etc. to the end of a user name/character name is absolutely ridiculous, and really paints a negative picture in my mind about ZoS. Who cares if they advertise their Twitch, their YouTube, their TikTok, etc. If anything, they are also giving ZoS free exposure. I don't understand why ZoS cant realize that streaming services can lead to higher in-game population, renew older players drive to come back to the game, and entice new players to give it a try because they saw a streamer they watch playing it.

Adding an acronym to your username, and actually being good at the game can also lead to more exposure for ZoS. "Man, this person I was just grouped with is really good, or they were enjoyable to play with, and I see they have a twitch account". Then I start playing with other friends that show some interest in the game so I tell them to check out "xyzTTV" on Twitch to take a look at the game.

Also, games that rank higher in the list of viewers on Twitch clearly get more buzz around them. If you frequent streaming services like Twitch you have seen this in the past... Fall Guys, Among Us, etc. Games that would not have had the popularity had streamers not started playing them...

ESO has hardly any following on Twitch. Way less people are watching ESO than WoW, and what is even more sad is that even New World has more viewers than ESO right now :o I could care less if a name has an acronym in it. If it wasn't for streamers, I would have shelved this game a long time ago. ZoS needs to embrace what era this is. To not allow something like this is petty, but to ban someone for something like this, temporary or not, is plain RIDICULOUS.

It should just happen at character load. Instead of loading the character, a message that says your character name breaks TOS. Then straight to a name change page. Done or can’t use character.
