Keeping vet players playing ESO

Instead of focusing on new players I think Zos need to remember the vet players that are still here. Besides retired crown store items and jubilee cake furniture not a whole lot focuses vet players in my opinion. Do you all have any ideas that would help players stay and even bring old players back ? I have a couple ideas myself.

1) make green CP tree ALL passives, really no reason to drive for CP past 1600. Having no real return on last 2000 CP seems pretty silly personally

2) Make achievement points do something. Every 500 ( or 1000 ) achievement points should unlock something

3) like daily rewards add monthly, 6 month, yearly rewards, etc

Just a couple ideas

I would not make all green tree stars passives. But I sure would make a lot more of them passive, sure. The fishing ones, the double furniture plan one for example could easily be passives. Far from everyone goes around fishing, and the stars supporting fishing are more QoL than anything else - it gives no real advantage in combat or other major game mechanics. Just shortens fishing time. To spend time changing stars and CP setups to get them almost takes more time than it is worth, so, yeah, passive.

The sneak and speed ones should stay active though, as they do affect gameplay more directly.

Not sure about the crafting/harvesting ones... I wouldn't weep if they were turned passive, but then I am not sure what most of my alts would put as actives instead. :p

Subclass system like in FFXIV: using same character, play a different class starting at lv10. Some skills, unlocked on sub, can be transferred to main class. In FFXIV very few transferable skills were useful, but those that were made a difference. For example healers could learn instant cast skill from wizards, which made player resurrection every x (180 or so) seconds to be instant.

Companion dungeon! 2 players (with a companion each) can queue to a dungeon that will give some extra experience to companions + a piece of companion equipment (blue, small chance of purple).

Mythic skills! Collect lots of leads to get a cool skill. 13th skill slot (only for mythic skills) that does something quality of life for each class or role.

Headbutt to force open locks! Unique skill after reaching 3600 cp.

As someone who is forever having to stop and swap from Meticulous Disassembly to Infamous to Master Gatherer would def like to see them made passives.

Log in, grab writs, check that MD is up, go through all the containers around the craft and turn in areas, swap to Infamous, out to surveys swap to MG it's a stupid stop and check waste of time that has no bearing on anyone else gameplay whatsoever, only the people that play this way.

    Meh.

PS: Would not mind the fishing being passives, but only ever fish when there are new fish to be found, but I know there are people who would be adding fishing to their daily rounds, and if it were a passive, I might as well = more time spent in game which would be good for the game, no?

I would like to see rewards system rework for dungeons and trials. For sure most people do trials for fun, gear, score achievements and not for rewards but that part is really outdated imo. When they added first trials years ago, there was actually decent gold to be made. 12k plunder + extra for hm was actually nice amount. But now with inflation it's a joke. Everything has gone up like in real life. Potions cost now more than you get back from the run.
Dungeon rewards also don't make any sense. Same amount of xp and transmutes from normal FG1 as vet dlc hm.
They could also upgrade older vet trial and all vet dungeons hear to perfected. I know the difference is almost nothing but us veteran players like our perfected versions.
Also instead of 2 dungeon dlcs a year, maybe make one of them trial dlc.

The first idea is great, the 2nd and 3rd ideas I do not like much. As that would make players feel they miss out on something if they do not put in the maximum effort. With maximum effort I mean chasing achievements, or logging in every day.

4: Personally I would like to see +10 base bank slots per mount, and +5 accountwide inventory slots per non-combat pet. This would give players more incentive to both buy those, and chase the achievements for those. This would also make sure older/more spending accounts will have plenty of storage space.

5: Enforcing roles! ZOS needs to do this, so the game can thrive on the intended roles, instead of leaving everyone with bad dungeon experiences.

6: (posted this before) A rebirth system, where we can choose 1 skill bar from another class(maximum), but we have to relevel from level 1 again. Rebirthing can only be done at level 50, can be done as often as we want, and we can change the chosen skillbar whenever we rebirth. This would allow for hybrid gameplay, and for many more post-50 gameplay options. This shouldn't actually be that hard to implement, as the skills and classes to choose from are already available. (Maybe allow this through Vivec, after completing the Vvardenfell questline.)

7: No more year-long stories, and no more stories in dungeons. Though this seems great on paper, in reality, if we do not like the year-long adventure, we know we will be stuck with it for another year. And stories in dungeons are just wasted, as everyone wants dungeons done fast.

8: Separate PvP balancing from PvE balancing.

Alternative to number 7 is having story mode dungeons for solo play (or play with companion) without gear rewards so those of us who really want to enjoy the stories can enjoy them. This has been requested frequently.

To make CP system really good ZOS needed to not make CP2.0

They need use CP1.0 and add skills in it, that you can open with points and may be some opens on some level.

As example 100 points after CP810 that is all passives like before - you can open some skill as example Fire Atronach summon, like sorcs pet.

Or crashing shok like skill that bash target to not as example change morph of base skill player may be use.

Skill bar is limited, so it will not be OP, but interesting system, not active CP starts but just skills that you can open and than put on standart skill pannel.

CP 2-0 killed builds crafting is much worse than CP1-0 and gives nothing interesting to the game, just silly standartization !

Agree with making the green tree passives. At this point, I have hundreds of 'resting' CP points since I don't change roles/slotted CP around and all the ones I need and all passives are maxed.

One current advantage for vets I will point out is endeavors. Go kill 10 xx critters? I know exactly where to find them and my character has been been everywhere so getting around is easy. I'm sure I'd find endeavors a lot more time consuming if I was a new player with a new character.

Fix the Timbercrow Wanderer costume. Only vets who have adequate blood or treasure have it, it ain't cheap and it is notably bugged around the butt area.

Implement some simple QOL things that vets have patiently watched being asking for - for years. Things that are not really contested at all like ability to hide shoulders, and more warden bear skin options to join the one lonely gray one since the system and skins are already in the game.

I do not understand why not to make PETs be skinnable in no combat pets models ? You can buy no combat pets, you can use it on some classes and may be some day even some skill to let any one summon combat pet can be added.

The siple way to use content, sell it and make some people happy.

cps, rewards, achivments.... why to return if I cant drink a pot when I press the key, fire an ultimate or a skill in a precise moment or just I cant die because lag is so big I dont receive any damage?

veterans will leave the game because its unplayable. Nothing else.

Novice people can think the game is like that, and maybe they can play somewhat as "that thing" is now... but is far worse than years ago. You can play with some lag and some bugs, but not in the current state. At least for me. Every 6 months I reinstall it again, I test, and I know why I uninstalled it last time. And every 6 months, is worse since years.

#4 would absolutely be broken lol

ive barely even tried to collect mounts and pets and im at almost 50 mounts and over 100 non combat pets

Alternatively, recognise that with the loss of character-specific achievements players have no reason to play more than one character fully through the game. That removes a key way for veteran players to keep running content, both in their own right as well as by helping others through group content. It's no wonder they now feel they have nothing to do and therefore no reason to keep playing. Account-wide achievements were a massive mistake, especially in the way they were implemented, and the players on PTS couldn't have been clearer about that.

achievements have never been a reason/lack of reason for me personally to re-run content (quests, dungeons, etc)

i dont replay quests on a lot of alts because majority of the quests do not feel like they give good rewards outside of the xp boost from completing them, many of the quests just feel like menial chores for lazy NPCs too (i primarily run the ones which are for unlocks like the harborage quests, and because its enjoyable to kill molag bal)

if i am running casual overland stuff with a friend, sure ill do the quest that they are on so that if they get stuck i can more easily see which step they are on, and i will also try not to just burn everything down so my friend can enjoy the content

for other content that is more group focused like WBs, or group dungeons, i have no problem helping people out who need to run them (for context: i like to solo WBs as a fun challenge, so if someone needs help i know i can do so; for dungeons i still have a large amount of gear to collect to fill out the collection book, ive even been running a lot of the dungeons solo because its less frustrating than dealing with randoms in the queue who want to rush everything)

i understand for some, such as yourself, that AWA has disrupted the way that you play, but for me i actually have been playing my alts almost more than my main because i dont feel shackled to play 1 toon to make achievement progress (i still use my main primarily for most content, but there is some content he is not and will never be able to succeed at without overhauling/changing his build which i do not want to do)

Achievements already unlock a great many things. Dies, skins, titles, even at least one mount. That is significant.

There is already a monthly reward, or at least semi-monthly. It is for ESO+ people. The endeavors would count as a semi-annual or annual reward. Having an annual reward just for logging in once a year would not do anything worthwhile for the game.

I'm divided on the idea of making all green CP tree perks passive-- or, why not just say all CP trees instead of focusing on the green one? On the one hand, it's a right royal pain in the rear to have to slot any of the perks in order to benefit from them. But on the other hand, as much as having to slot, deslot, and reslot perks can be a real hassle, it's an important part of the whole CP 2.0 design, allowing for different builds instead of just one big Mega META Build, and preventing players with everything maxed out from completing smearing no-CP, low-CP, and mid-CP players who still haven't maxed out everything.

How to keep vets playing, aside from fixing performance?

Make the crown exclusive houses purchasible for gold the second time they enter the shop. People are going to be spending away their gold on them, which means there are more reasons to try and earn gold, which means people are actually encouraged to do content again for that sweet sweet coin.

Give a random Apex mount of the current crown crate season to the top 100 players of the 30day PvP campaigns.

Add more content to updates and if they can't then lower the prices - ZOS is making profit and if they can't reinvest and improve their product further then they should reduce the asking price. As a company they should constantly be on the quest to improve their product for us customers, which then causes growth as more people come in and keep supporting them. They should not try to only appeal to investors and treat players like products that are just there to pay for increasingly bad offers.

    ADD THREE MORE CHARACTER SLOTS!

We have been stuck at 18 max for what, half the lifespan of the game?

    WoW gives you 54.

Make it at least 21 and watch the veteran players flood back in (along with the crown purchases).

This is such a no-brainer moneymaker I can't believe I have to even type it.

You offer a really good point here. It’s not fun for new players or veterans alike when they are all lumped together in the same matchmaking queue. A ranked playlist would be really helpful for remedying this issue.

#4 would absolutely be broken lol

ive barely even tried to collect mounts and pets and im at almost 50 mounts and over 100 non combat pets

with that request that would give me 500 more bank slots and 500 bag slots

...and the reason they gave us for AWA was storage limitations lol
Well, the longer you play and pay, the more storage you use and need. So it would not be overpowered. And at some point in the game, ZOS will have to find a way to massively lift those storage restrictions. If they don't, that would sink the game. Take houseguests as an example, why would players buy those if they cannot even place them inside their houses, due to the limitation. The only way for the game to truly move forward is to find a way to fix/lift those storage limitations. **Note: As mentioned, many pets and mounts are available to new players, so this would not be pay-to-win.**

And I agree with @Xinihp , we need more character slots. Many more!
10: More character slots! Atleast 50.

PS: I am against handing out radiant apex's as rewards, for anything.
