What brings you back to ESO every day?

I used to play this game pretty consistently a few years back but had a break and am now starting to play again with the announcement of High Isle.

I want things to do every day but I’m so out of the loop. My question is what is there to login for each day and collect/farm to make it fun?

If you want something to farm every day you might want to try endeavours. It's a new system which gives you a list of 'quests' to complete (shown in the Group menu) in return for Seals of Endeavour, a new currency which can be used to buy items from crown crates. You can complete up to 3 daily endeavours (from a total of 5) and 1 weekly (from a total of 3).

They're usually pretty simple and can be quite quick (for example one today is just to refine raw crafting materials) but can also be a prompt to try something you might not normally do. It's a pretty low commitment and it can be a starting point to get you going each day and then you can see what else you feel like doing after you've finished.

The downside is because it was added only to comply with Microsoft's policy on loot boxes and ZOS (and Microsoft I suspect) still want buying crates to be preferable it takes a long time to get enough seals to buy anything other than the junk consumables, and then you have to wait for the items you want to be available. But on the plus side you're guarenteed to get the item/s you choose instead of having to gamble for them.

If you want something more extensive my suggestion is to find a guild you like with a regular schedule of events. That's likely to be more varied and fun than attaching yourself to one area of the game you can farm over and over.

Getting everything finished with my newest character.
Finishing off the last WB's that I need to do.
Getting the daily rewards, when they're good it's a motivator anyway.

When the newest character is finished, hopefully before High Isle, I'll start a new one for that...
Repeat for each new character and new expansion.

ESO is greatly underrated and could do better than other more popular mmos. What i love in this game is the music, the environments and the immersion.I like almost every aspect of the game except for furnishing(but i am not against it) which i didn't bother 1 time since homestead. My house was snugpod with like 6 storage chests xD.Progression/dailies and having stuff to do brings me back along with my favorite of all which is dungeon achievement runs.
  • winterscrolls229prerb18_ESO
    +1 endeavours.

Im getting really philosophical about ability firing though, i think to rise above the floaty combat, you have to be mindful of your character while its swinging, basically the enemies are so invisible they might as well not be there.

If you instead just focus on your button pushes to match the animation, basically play the animation, there's some refinement and satisfaction to eso combat.

The enemies are so pointless all the do is enable weapon abilities to trigger. They don't even drop anything good.

Yeah i've been logging in only for endeavors for a very long time now :)

If you need something to do, then buy a piece of land and build a house, farming the resources for it will not let you get bored...

Personally, there are a number of things I could mention. Like being able to spend time in a beautiful world without worries (of course without forgetting the worries of the people of Tamriel, such as hordes of Daedra, Harrowstorms and other inconveniences), let this world and the music soothe me, distract me and not to think of anything bad. And last but not least, to meet my loved one.

    The internet.

Running out my enlightenment, collecting the daily log in reward, doing Endeavours, paying my weekly dues in the 4 trade guilds I am in, selling stuff in the 4 trade guilds I am in.

Occasionally run pledges on weekends if I have the time, rarely bother during the week though.

Lately I limit myself to about an hour a day running out a 100% xp potion, turn on my playlist Itunes do a mix of farming mats/killing stuff, instead of doing daily writs on all 18 of my characters now I only do them on my main, probably 2 maybe 3 more years of that and I should hit the CP cap at some point, not in any rush.

Even doing a bit of multi tasking bought a little under desk exercise machine one of those mini steppers, that I am using during winter, can't be stuffed going for a jog in the cold.

Sell all the mats I gather over the course of a week the day after the trader flip, gives me plenty of funds for whatever I need.

Have tried on and off doing the quests again on alts just don't really find it that fun repeating them, always end up drifting back to my main instead.

Once the chapter drops I will focus on doing all the quests on my main, same again once the DLC drops later in the year, then I will switch back to what is above.

Other than that real life takes priority, got other things I want to do, see no reason to spend a large number of hours a day on ESO unless there is something I specifically want to do that day, at the end of the day ESO is just one of the thing I do to reduce my boredom in my spare time nothing more than that.

    Daily rewards, hehe.

A more serious answer, there is always things to do in ESO. Just ride around and explore the world.

I absolutely love taking a ride through Summerset, it is so peaceful and wonderful. It's probably my favorite zone in the game. Just enjoying the scenery and the environment, finding some remote cliff and looking out over the sea, beautiful.

ESO is a gorgeous game. Sometimes it's very nice and relaxing to just sit back and watch the view. :)

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Frankly very little. More and more ZoS has pushed the game towards hard grinding and artificial time gates, and I find my freedom to engage with the game in ways that I find fun is heavily restricted. Across the board the game doesn't really seem to respect the player's time and effort, and it pushes me away more than pulls me in.

Sorry for the repeat those who know me: I come to ESO to take a breath. It's for me a side game to chill solo. I do only what I feel to do, without grinding and not bothering about achievements. I just take it easy and enjoy.
At the top of it, I'm part of the lucky players with no performance issues and the little I do of the content isn't affected by any big bugs and/or technical troubles.
So all in all, ESO is for me a nice place to relax when I need it, and that makes me return to it regularly. <3
