Do you want ESO's guild trader system to be reworked to a global auction house?

For me, the key points is with the addons. I do love trading, but that's only because I can use 3rd party programs that make it user friendly enough.
If ZOS suddenly decide the end of 3rd party programs (it can very well be as it is a enormous risk for them in several aspects)... Weeelll... Therefore, I can personally only hope that ZOS find a way to integrate a "proper" global auction system into the game.
I'm out of my mind, feel free to leave a message... PC/NA

Trader system makes trading an interesting subgame for casual traders too and it's a huge gold sink.
PC has addons and consoles do not, but that is a problem with consoles.

All games should just emulate the original Everquest, where we all just stand around in a tunnel shouting out what we are looking to trade and for what. Or version 2, where you went to a special plane and set your character afk for the night selling your wares among the rows of other afk players. It was actually pretty cool browsing everyone's stuff, you got to know who farmed what and where you had a good chance of finding what you needed.

As for auction houses, first off, who wants to bid on items ever? If I am looking for something, I need it right now, not a week from now when the auction for it ends. Then there are the global vendors where everyone lists their stuff, and have yet to see one of those work properly, there are always an army of bots competing with each other to snap up every under priced item and relisting them above market value.

Then there is BDO, at least the last time I checked, which is a global system, but the game sets the price on every item and your listing just goes in a queue to be sold when your turn comes up. No undercutting, no cash right now, just list and wait. Oh, and so their system doesn't get abused, you also can't trade directly with anyone, you have to use the vendor. So playing with friends and something drops you or they need, sorry charlie, you can't even give it to them, nor they you.

The system here is actually a lot like Everquest v2, except instead of everyone having their own vendor, you share it with ~500 other players.

Although I voted "indifferent," it isn't because I don't care.

My understanding is that ZOS has indicated in the past that they weren't interested in adding a global auction house, although that doesn't necessarily mean it will never happen.

But I'm not sure if it could be added without negatively impacting server performance, so I'm not sure if it should ever happen.

I do think the current system has some issues; but assuming anything were to be done about those issues, maybe it would be better to keep the current system but try to address the existing issues within it.

    No.

I honestly feel like most players that want global are buyers more than sellers. Everyone undercutting on the same store would drive prices down and only a select few people farming certain things would really be making the money. And you'd eventually find less variety as well as more and more items become junk to bother selling.

Mostly I just don't think we should ask the server hamsters to do much more as they can't even keep up as it is.

edit to add: Also, the guild trader buy ins eliminate a HUGE amount of gold from the market. Stop taking that away and inflation gets way worse than it has been the last couple years.

Yes something needs to change as the current system is based around 2014/2015 and the game and players have changed so much in that time that this system needs to be looked at.

I'd be happy if they'd just implement an ability to do a global trade search in-game rather than having to work with Tamriel Trade Center. I'd like up-to-date information--accessible in-game instead of on an ad-swamped website, my usage of which is further slowed down by ESO's habit of smashing my CPU to 100% and pinning it to the roof--on what trader is selling which items for what price and where they can be found. That would be vastly preferable to spending 40+ minutes running from pillar to post, trying to track down the one trader who actually has the gear piece/motif page/furnishing plan I want. I don't mind running to the back end of nowhere to buy what I'm after; I DO mind running to the back end of nowhere only to find that TTC's information wasn't correct.

    No.

However a system offering "price brackets suggestions" in-game in a similar way TTC offers wuld be appreciated tho.
A minimal gold fee per request to limit request spam & act as a gold sink would be ok too.

It would be very useful for casual buyers.

I want these forums to be reworked to disallow any more mind-numbing posts about this topic.

TTC already IS an auction house.

    S.

I don't think this is a good idea. This forum already is populated by a self-selecting niche of the game's overall player base. I don't see how setting up banned topics around legitimate gameplay issues will do anything except render it an echo chamber, and thus a completely pointless forum for discussion.

On more mainstream forums like reddit and steam, the corollary would be banning people from complaining about AWA (something about which the majority of players really couldn't care less). Presumably people here would find that objectionable.

Even on the broader point, no, TTC is not an auction house.

    1) It only works on PC.

    2) One of the reasons this topic keeps coming up is that you cannot sell at all in ESO without joining a guild, unlike with a normal auction house or universal store, except by spamming zone chat, and some players simply will not join a guild. They don't want to and they won't do it.

Speaking only for myself, as one of those players, I've got so fed up with the economy and not having a sensible mechanism to sell anything outside guilds that I've now uninstalled the game. I check in here from time to time to look for signs of a change of heart from the developers. Not holding my breath.

I don't want an auction house.

    I want a *mall*.

    Where the following are true:

All players may sell things in their shop, with no limits, no expiry and no requirement to be in a guild - if an item is in the mall, it stays there until voluntarily withdrawn by the owner, or bought. Owner may adjust the price without withdrawing the item, and when setting or adjusting the price, is automatically presented with a list of the five lowest prices of that item currently in the mall, for comparison.

The entire mall is searchable in-game, through one interface, players do not need to physically travel in the game world.

Items may be sorted by name and price (lowest first)

It is possible to buy "some but not all" of a stack, by right-clicking and entering the desired number in a box, which defaults to "buy 1" if no input is received.

Sellers may set per-day limits on what an given buyer (player) may buy

***SUPER IMPORTANT*** Reselling is disallowed, when you buy any item from the store it becomes automatically Bound.

Bound and non-Bound versions of the same item can stack into a single slot, but the game keeps track of how many are bound. Example: "Chromium Plating: 20 (10 Bound)".

It would not be an Auction House, because Auction means a timed sale with bids. This is a Mall - buy it or don't buy it, take it or leave it.

Prices are already too high for entry level players. A central auction house will just make capitalism more prevalent and drive prices higher.

Indifferent to the Auction House for items. However, I'd like player to player crown sales to be worked into a global system. That would never happen though.

Sadly enough. I have seen similar things work in STO for example, where you can buy Zen (their version of Crowns) for dilithium (which is one of many currencies you can get in game).

As a seller, I don't have a problem with it meeting my needs. As a buyer, it is terrible. It is also one reason I'm just accumulating gold. I've mostly given up trying to buy from traders, and a lot of that is due to the performance of the item search being so bad I just stop. That when I do need a specific item, that TTC is necessary, and also leads to wasted time when the item is not still on the trader, just adds to the frustration with the system. So again, a desire to buy items just becomes a decision to not to bother.

It is possible to keep the guild traders and provide a centralized marketplace, as EQ did with their bazaar. Or, preferably a complete revamp of the system would be nice. I don't expect it to happen until their subscription/sales numbers start dropping, and they have to add more QoL changes to try and keep people.

I know you think banning reselling would stop people from buying low priced items and reselling them for higher prices. However, what happens if I want to buy something for a friend? Or if I accidentally buy something I don't want? Or if someone is selling a stack of something (like a motif) and I only need one? Maybe the price is good but I don't need two of the same motif. I would either want to resell it or put it in the guild bank for another guild member to use.

A couple of points on this:

    1) it's perfectly possible to introduce a new database attribute to gift items that are not bind on pickup;

    2) if you're introducing a no reselling rule, that you've bought an item you didn't need as part of another becomes your problem -- it's not a compelling reason not to ban resales, but might well change seller behaviour by encouraging people to split out items;

    3) if you buy something you don't want, perhaps a five minute cooling period, although given that ESO doesn't even offer undo for crafting something incorrectly, again, it's hard to see why this is some sort of showstopping objection rather than a "be more careful next time" point.

I actually don't mind having the guild traders scattered all over Tamriel and having to be a member of a guild in order to sell stuff I don't need.

I dislike on console not having Tamriel Trade Center (and the other trading AddOns that exist on PC megaserver)

Please ZOS, build something like TTC into the base game.

What is the justification for console megaservers having the Middle Ages equivalent of selling/shopping while those on PC megaservers have an online system to look up relatively current item listings and locations? Night and day difference between console ESO trading and PC ESO trading.
  • winterscrolls229prerb18_ESO
They should add an option so that the guild traders can choose to let randoms create listings on their ah for a fee.

    Nope.

    1) Dead horse... they already said "No".
    2) Even if they said "Yes"... my guess is that megaserver design limitations from a decade ago would make the implementation not what people want, and less than what other games do. Megaserver has to be designed for this sort of thing, and I bet that this one is not.
    3) I don't expect them to change their mind... see above.

Again to point out that the most common reaction on both steam and reddit, to the extent there were even complaints at all, to complaints about AWA was to ask why anyone would play with more than one character. It's quite important to remember that this forum is not a representative sample of ESO's player base.
