REQUEST: Curated Antiquity Lead Motifs! (Ancestral Orc / Nord / Elf / Reach / Akaviri / Daedric)

Because it is just SO annoying, when the motifs are already SO FREAKING RARE to even get ONE, for that one to have an X/14 chance of being a duplicate of one you already know!

Okay, it is less annoying for the Ancestral Orc / Nord / Elf motifs, in the main zones, for which (1) maps are tons more common and (2) there are only 2 possible antiquity leads per zone, 4 in Khenarthi's Roost because Aldmeri Dominion has only a single newbie zone instead of two.

But for the Ancestral Reach (W Skyrim and Reach), Ancestral Akaviri (Blackwood) and Ancient Daedric (Deadlands), it's positively absurd given how rare actual maps for the zones already are: how rare is the chance of actually getting an antiquity lead from a map: for that lead then to be a duplicate of one you already know, when there are some you still need and don't know.

I mean, PLEASE. Can you at least make it so that IF you get a motif lead, it's guaranteed to be one you don't know, unless you know all the antiquity motif leads from that zone?

    i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

    in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

    Just scrap the whole "get hecked by treasure map drop rate, then get hecked by treasure map zones RNG, then get hecked by motif drop rate, and if you aren't satisfied by then, get hecked by getting a duplicate". There's no reason for a motif page to be that hard to get. There's no reasons for anything in this game to be locked behind so much layers of RNG, especially when RNG in this game is such a disaster.

    My point is I don't mind *quite* as much about the other levels of rarity, but getting a duplicate lead is the final insult. I'm only thinking that ONE level of insulting rarity needs to be removed, not all four levels.

    duplicate lead is a problem that could have been solved by just leaving the lead "on stand-by" (you can't find the same lead again, before excavating it), but zos decided to put an expiration limit of 30 days -.-' (anyone remember the codex disaster that followed?) i've spent millions on maps for A.Reach and A. Akaviri, and i've simply gave up on A. Daedric (~20 maps -> 0 Leads)
    imho, the real problem is the layers upon layers of RNG....

    They should add a way to farm treasure maps from each zone. Without RNG. That would do it.

    Curated Drops wont work because: Person X will get 13/14 motifs pages and after that each time They will just get that sweet chest piece.

    No, I'm talking about *leads*, not pieces. Once you get, and dig up, the lead, it's permanently in your list of known antiquity leads, so curation would work against it.

    And if you get the lead and don't dig it up, it expires after 30 days. So it could never work the way you described above.

    Somebody gets all 13 other pieces, doesn't have the lead for the chest piece, then does a map and gets the lead?
    - If they dig it up, then it's permanently in their list of known leads. Now they have all 14 leads permanently in their list - account-wide - and any future ones are purely random between the 14 possibilities.
    - If the don't dig it up, it disappears in 30 days and NOBODY gets a chest piece motif.

    That's exactly why curated drops would work perfectly for antiquity leads, which are not transferable between players until the lead itself has been "locked" to the account by being dug up and converted into an actual motif - by which time, curation would now work against finding another copy of that lead, not in favour of it.

    Oh, it would works this way. Its not enough to make those motifs easier to get tho. Like the only reason Ancestral Akaviri got cheap at some point is because of event in Blackwood which gave away a lot of maps. Now its only going up.... and with each new zone we get new maps which makes farming even harder.

    So yeah Curated Drops like that would be nice but thats not enough in my opinion. Great idea tho.

    Well, I'd rather go one step at a time, and if it's still frustrating, recommend another step. Rather than take too many steps at once and then be unable to dial it back when people complain about it now being too easy and devaluing their previous effort.

    That's a good improvement, but I agree that it's not enough. There should be a chance to get a lead from regular treasure chests in each zome, not just treasure maps.

    Or from excavating other leads, like the tooltip seemed to suggest...

    I'm all for it. However, reducing the levels of RNG involved to get leads in the first place would be even better.

    It is a poorly designed system in my opinion. Collecting the motifs is doable but expensive. Filling the codex is absurd. I hope they never use this method again without adjustment. Curating or something else to reduce the silliness of completing the codex would be a welcome change.
