How do you get to High Isle?

Okay, I know I can just open the map and go to the Westbay Wayshrine.

But what's the "best" way to get to High Isle naturally?

I would assume that it's by boat, and when I zoom into Gonfalon Bay I see that there's a boatswain there who travels to Mournhold, Wayrest, and Elden Root, so I would assume that there are similar boatswains in those cities who can take me to High Isle, but I don't see any.

Ah, so you don't know, either. I took the wayshrine, but when it launches on the live server I'd kind of like to travel there by boat or whatever, if I can ever find one that goes there.

Ah, okay, so there's no boatswains per se, just boats at the docks, and they don't have icons or tooltips on the map yet.

I went back to Vivec City to park my character, then decided to go ahead and talk to the NPC about Tales of Tribute, which directed me to the boatswain that goes to the alluance capitals, and once in Wayrest I see the quest indicator on a little boat at the end of the dock. But there's nothing on the map to indicate that boat-- no anchor icon or tooltip-- just a quest indicator.

Mournhold. There’s a cart near all the others, that takes you by boat (?) to the docks at Gonfalon Bay.

The way I usually get to a new zone is "jump to" any guild-mate who is in that zone... it's also a nice way to unlock other wayshrines in that zone too... as long as there is a guild-mate close to it. :)

Yeah, I was looking for the boat on the map, but it wasn't listed as far as I could see. But there is a small boat at the docks, it just wasn't listed on the map yet on the tooltips for any of the boat icons (anchors), nor did it have an icon of its own.

The best procedure seems to be to find the NPC who's recruiting new blood for Tales of Tribute, accept her quest, and that will give you a quest pointer to the nearest boat that takes you to the alliance capitals, and from there you will get another quest pointer to the specific boat or cart which will take you there.

Yeah, I used to just take a wayshrine to the one freebie wayshrine that's in the new zone, but back when Greymoor came out and some players were asking about how to get to Western Skyrim by the most natural way, it got me thinking that it's better for immersiveness to take a boat, cart, road, or whatever method is available, rather than just taking a wayshrine. I'm fine with traveling by wayshrine once I've discovered a new location, but for the initial discovery it's fun to go by road, or boat, etc.

In the original zones, we have several ways to walk overland to most of the 15 original zones, although some are hidden. I think that is the most natural way to a different zone.

The new zones that are islands don't lend themselves to this method.
