Questions about Tribute patron achieves and card upgrades

There's a number of achievements for proccing patron bonuses x amount of times, but the counters only go up when playing against other human players, not NPCs. Is this intended? Because the achievement descriptions don't mention any restriction like that.

Also, it seems that card upgrades can only ever come for human-player matches, never NPC matches. Is this intended also?

    So far I've only played against NPCs and I've gotten1 card upgrade and in one of my reward boxes a "map" to a rare card. The game calls it a map but it's really a riddle talking about sea elves and serpents.

    Haven't gotten any credit towards the patron achievements though.

    Maybe human matches have an increased chance for upgrades then, or maybe only certain cards can be upgraded in NPC matches and certain ones only in human matches.

    I've had the same - an upgrade to a Hlaalu card which I got when I won a game against the Novice NPC in Stonefalls in a game that was not one of the NPC dailies - not sure whether I got the upgrade randomly, or if it was for beating that particular NPC, or if it was for ranking up.

    And like you I got a clue towards another upgrade in one of the reward crates that arrive in the mail (like a survey/treasure map, but with a riddle) pointing me towards a particular delve.

    I am liking the card game more than I thought I would - I actually wasn't looking forward to it at all, but it isn't really a collecting card game which is what I thought it was going to be.

    There appears to be different ways to upgrade. Each patron deck has an achievement associated with using that effect X times. These 8 achievements can only be earned in matches against players and those 8 upgrades are earned this way. The achievement description doesn't mention that it has to be players and not NPC's but it stands to reason that an achievement like that might be locked to player matches specifically. However, this should be mentioned in the description.

    There are other upgrade cards earned through various means that don't seem to have achievements associated with them and those are the ones we seem to be earning in any match, including NPC's. They look to be "hidden" upgrades and I'm not sure if that's intended. They may add more achievements that describe how they are achieved... or maybe not.
