ESO lacks progression for veteran players

I spend 20-30 mins a day to get another +1 CP, to 1000+ total CP.
I completed all overland. Farmed all dungeon sets i wanted, made them golden. Maxed every skill tree (except PvP, since i avoid it). Unlocked all class skills for companions except ultimates. Created a build for every role and played it extensively. Been a vampire, now a werewolf.
For me there is nothing to strive for, and i am only 1340 of 3600 CP. I would gladly play ESO more if there was meaningful progression, but now i am thinking to stop playing until next big DLC goes on sale.

Are you talking simple solo progression? I'm CP2110 and haven't completed even half the zones in the game, but I have run all trials on at least vet difficulty - the hard modes being just a little too "much" for me to want to spend time on. I haven't run out of things to do yet, but I've also been around long enough to know that this isn't the best game if you are constantly seeking new challenges as they are a rather "slow drip" here.

I think you are mistaking CP 3600 as some sort of goal rather than just a hard cap of the number of CP you earn.

Dungeons, Trials, PVP, Arenas, Daily Quests, are all repeatable content with achievements you are meant to strive for or just do (in the case of PVP). If you can do all of these things at whatever CP level you are at, then CP level is not really important for you. Add to that all of the collections stuff, overland achievements, the trading market, etc, there is a ton of content for all types of playstyles.

If playing that repeatable content or knocking out achievements isn't really something you want to do, maybe this isn't the type of game for you once you've completed questing. And that is ok too.

We can get to Cp 3600, we have almost 2000 furnishing plans to collect, over a 100 provisioning recipes to collect, over a 100 motifs, we have thousands of sets pieces to collect for the sticker book, there’s lorebooks to collect, hundreds of skyshards and an extensive amount of achievements. We have trials, arenas and three tupes of pvp. Also, you can level up 6 different classes, and collect most of these again for your alts. I don’t know how much more we need and I’m sure I’ve missed a lot of stuff.

PvP has a very steep learning curve at first—I recommend starting with battlegrounds, not Cyro. And IC has a lot to farm and achieve and discover if you haven't done it.

You also might have fun joining a good social guild. Have you done the solo arenas on vet? Gotten master angler?

Otherwise, it's okay if you're out of content you're interested in. It happens.

I agree with this. Housing, Exploring, Quests, PVP Cyrodiil, PVP Battlegrounds, PVP Dueling, Achievement Hunting, Cosmetics Farming, Playing the Economy, Crafting, Heists and Sacraments, World Bosses and Zone Events, Antiquities, Dungeons, Trials... The list of things to do is long and grows each year.

But also, I think it is unreasonable to expect one game to provide infinite entertainment. This game comes close if you engage with all of its systems and content, but still, no one game can be everything infinitely. If you find yourself bored and running out of things you enjoy doing, then take a break, play something else, and give it another go at the next update.

That's why I usually have 3 games going at a time. ESO and F76 are pretty much daily, time spent is dependent on how much or what I feel like doing in each game each day. Could be a quick 20-30 mins in each, or a 10 hour PVP session in ESO. And then I mix in a 3rd game here and there, usually something from Gamepass, to keep things fresh.

Unfortunately the achievements change has reduced substantially the amount of things a veteran player can do by eliminating the main point of rolling multiple characters, and even those who benefit from it in being able to roll new builds with almost instant levelling to 50 together with immediate full CPs and achievements etc. have little to do except play the new character instead of the old one.

I avoid PvP, not even going to consider doing it.
Fully completed all overland zones. Fully completed some dungeon sets, around 80% progression on others (those i dont need). Slowly buying recipes and motifs, as i have no interest in them, just like to buy things cheap. Have zero interest in achievements, as it is even less useful than cosmetics.
In another game i am playing since 2012, there are over 100 skill lines, i am still leveling them. And skill lines can be augmented with new effects, which also takes time.
So next update brings card game that only 18% of players are interested in (excluding me) and 2 new companions (only 1 of them will be accepted for DD role). I think i will be done with it in less than a month, playing 1 hour per day.

I mean, I have been playing this game daily since the end of 2016. It really sounds like maybe this isn't the game for you, as you appear to not be interested in the actual end game content the game has to offer, like PVP and collecting.

And really, by fully completed, do you mean all achievements, all collections (monster trophies, skyshards, lorebooks, side quests), or do you mean you just burned through the main stories? Because actually completing everything takes a ton of time. I know this from experience having done everything in every overland zone possible. All books, all skyshards, all quests, all everything. And that all took most of my 5.5 years playing the game to do.

Everything except achievements, took me around 2 years of relaxed play. For the past half of year i was only collecting 1 CP point per day, as i collected everything else i was interested in.

Agree except I think Cyrodil is better for starting PvP if you are in an nice PvP guild, solo no and so much worse with the group nerf. Yes some guilds run militias that is officers who run pickup groups as support or as diversions like taking outposts.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Agree with the above post--BG's is a much rougher place to learn PvP because there is no hiding in the crowd like you can when zerg surfing in Cyro. If you're not already skilled in how to survive you'll die just as easily to 4 people focusing you in a BG match as you would to 20 in Cyro.

I'm in a similar situation as the OP, been playing 2 years+, PVE/ Solo Questing centric, I pretty much ran out of things I want to do a while ago also.
So, I made an alt, rinse, and repeat,(3 alts), but now with AwA I'm just using them to finish up Jar-Lees quests, I do my Endeavors. collect my daily, and I'm on my merry way to play something else.

As a strict PvP player this is felt severely. No ranked or competitive game modes to participate in, and the card game has a ranked queue day 1, what a slap in the face.

Wow clearly we have different definitions of "relaxed" I have played mostly daily since a month after PC release, and I've not finished all the content on any character, and most of the DLC's (I do have ESO+ and have bought all the chapters) I haven't finished the main quests - mostly.

Of the 18 characters on my main account I just finished horse training on #4.

I am really good at laid back, apparently.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I feel like if they could fix the performance issues plaguing end game trials and Cyrodiil then the end game activities would be just fine....if they worked reliably.

But they don't work reliably and have not for WAY too long....as in years now.

ZOS bean counters need to learn to consider more than just counting beans when making decisions on how to invest in the future of the game.

The hardest part will be figuring out how to step on 12 teleporter pads at the same time solo after downing the first boss :)

Yes ESO lacks end-game progression. It's never had it and perhaps it was never meant to either. Other games do for sure but even they can get tiresome until new seasons are launched. For many players today a single MMORPG rarely satisfies all their wants and needs so quite a few players use more than one game and switch back and forth. What I do wish ESO had was more collectibles (mounts, cosmetics, pets, emotes, mementos, etc). In WoW for example, some players have collected upwards of 900 mounts alone.

Today i asked myself for reasons to keep logging ESO and i cannot find them.
Next big update brings card game that only 18% of players are interested in.
I looked at the next 2 companions skills and they are so generic and nerfed that i will be better with Bastian and Mirri (i already have them, why spend money and time on extra 2 that will do exactly same things). Ember is a sorc without summons, Isobel is a templar with 16 sec cooldown on spear.
Next update is close, but i cannot find a single reason to buy it, even a half of year later at 70% discount (on Steam).

ESO had excellent content and quality of life updates and changes, now it needs endgame content for veteran players, to have a reason to continue playing it.
For example subclasses, like in FFXIV and Lineage 2: keep your character, but switch to a different class (starting at lv1), can have as many subclasses as you want. When subclass has high level, can borrow some of their abilities to the main class. I tried this system in both FFXIV and LA2 and they work great.

Mythic skills! Gather lots of leads (like for ebon mount) to acquire rare skills, only 1 of them can be active, giving some quality of life changes (like burst heal for wardens).

My playtime is also down by a lot. Personally I find that PVP (when it works) is the only thing that is enjoyable after endgame. There's actually so many things I want to learn and try out in PVP but I just can't find the motivation when I know performance will ruin just my mood every time. Trials are kinda meh as a DD and mostly just feels like group dummy parsing - perhaps I might try out tanking if I ever go back to PVE.

I'm somewhat confused by this. What are you referring to as being "veteran" and what "endgame" are you referring to? (We all know fashion and housing is the real end game)

In terms of dungeons and trials, DLC trifectas are the pinnacle of PvE end game. I'm assuming you've already done Planesbreaker, Godslayer, Gryphon Heart, Emperor, Grand Overload, etc., clearing 100% of available achievements up to this point, and are eagerly awaiting Dreadsail Reef and the new chapter? If that's the case, I somewhat agree, especially now with the introduction of account-wide achievements (not exclusively that), I'm seeing a lot of end game raiding groups going through and overhaul at the moment.

If you haven't done that, there's a lot to do for veteran end game. In the case of PvE, I would argue that the dungeon and trial achievements offer more potential for progression than dungeons or raids in FFXIV (and I really like FFXIV) because in those dungeons all you need to do is clear them. No one cares about no death runs or trifectas and most dungeons have speedrun blockers (which I like). In ESO, you can always aim for a fairly clear goal, but progression is needed for the hardest achievements/titles/etc.
