How much gold do you currently have?

For this one, that limit is 500 K

I will one up you, I have 15 characters I use and keep 1mil pocket change on each, in case I spot a great deal, so I seem to be the opposite of you with impulse buys (heh). I keep 10mil on my main, +2 mil AP on my PVP char in case The Golden has something new, and the rest is banked.

Just broke 15 mil a few days ago and expecting to be closer to 20 if the drops keep coming like they are from the event. I'm a gold hoarder and rarely spend it but I also only trade during events like this when high value drops are very frequent.

So I'm not the only one :P I do the same but keeping 1k on each alt. When it goes to total gold... Well I decorated my house once, years ago when prices were much lower and I'm happy with it till this day, so without the need of buying furnishings I'm sitting above 100 mil, if I would count my mats, let's just say I'm not worried about being broke in the game.

I had slightly over 100k when I joined a trade guild and started doing writs because I wanted funds for housing. I have around 35 million at the moment. It would probably be a lot more but I do spend for houses and furnishings and furnishing plans and mats. I do however limit how much I'll spend at one time and keep impulse shopping in check.

I try to keep around 1-5mil. gold on my character, rest is turned into chromium and/or used to flip to prevent my value from being eaten up by inflation. I have purchased all the 3+mil gold houses, have the grand master crafter and all the furniture plans I want, so now I'm just trying to keep it flowing.

I have been thinking about doing this as well. Wax went from 6-8k to 20k and stays there, however Chromium (once 70k) is going down from 300-320k to 260k on PC EU. Some motifs' value got exponentially higher (minoatur, dromathra, worm cult etc), others are usually devalued. I'd love if there was an option to buy bonds, or something that does not need constant attention to hold the value of work invested.

2.25 Million. I've resorted to Crown Selling to get a quick influx after a spending spree, but it's actually really difficult for me to accumulate any real amount. Selling that PvP Costume runebox everyone wanted is what got me into the millions, and I've stayed at 2 million for a long time now.

Thank you, that's what i thought.

As to your question. In my view there are many wealth gaps in this game. Such as pvp skill, gear theory crafting, trial abilities. These are just a few where those who have mastered their chosen focus have created a wealth gap. Yes knowledge/skill is wealth.

These gaps can be closed but its up to the player. The Gold gap is no different in my view. I never talk about my wealth in game, because as rich as i am in coin, I am also poor in another fields of game play outside of my mastery. So I think all players get richer just as fast as older players, they are just impatient with their starting point.

Just topped 57 million. I vendor everything and don't spend. Typically I have 10k crowns leftover when sub renews for a year.

I don't buy crowns or gamble boxes. And I am poison master. You can make a lot on poisons and refining for gold mats.

You answered your own question really. It isn't necessarily hoarding, it is just earning and having nothing to spend it on, so the pile of gold just keeps growing. After I earned or bought every motif in game at the time, which cost about 20-30 million total, I have had nothing to spend it on, I do still get great loot and stuff to sell, my guild has a trader, and have probably earned 3+ million just this week doing nothing special or even trying. I would rather sell that spinner, crafty or whatever gear to someone that wants it, than decon an item worth 70K. I have enough mats from doing dailies to keep me in food, potions & gold gear till the cows come home, so even that costs me zero.

It seems like a rather poorly designed system, to dump so much gold in a game with nothing to spend it on, which is why there are super rich players. As for the poor, they seem to have issues with guilds, selling stuff on traders or whatever, it is their choice and they can play as they want.

I have about 4.5m on my crafter, and then over 1m spread across my other characters thanks to taking gold from sales on them (I plan on putting all of it in the bank from them after the Jubilee). I usually try to keep about 300k or so in the bank and then everything else on my crafter, since she's the one I buy all my Motifs and Blueprints and stuff on.

now if only my Cipher would sell...

If you're on PC EU it's so damn easy making gold with the insane inflation, if you're somewhat self sufficient and are in a trading guild or two selling the extra stuff you get, then you'll make aaaaa lot. Only problem is that the gold is barely worth anything buying things off traders. But buying things from merchant feels like nothing, it's very odd

I used to barely have over 1m gold at a time, now I have like 17m or so because I got really lucky when the Baron Zaudrus and Balorgh masks were out. Made like 15m from selling those mask motifs. I really only spend on housing items and I've been waiting since we got the psijic villa for free for the alinor items to got down in price (they went up actually) so I will be spending some on those soon

Just over 10M at the moment. Was at around 14M back in October but spent a ton on set pieces and plans and treasure maps to the point of having around 6M left before this event started. During the event alone, I have earned 4M from selling motifs. I expect to earn another 3-4M before the chapter release as I continue to sell off items from the events.

I see it similar to CP earn after a certain threshold. Just a thing to do.

But also, I think it holds some value in having that large of a cushion to spend without worrying. At 10M right now and I definitely think through purchases larger than 100K because I could quite easily drop that 10M all at once on like 10-20 plans I don't know and be completely broke. Whereas, if I were at 100K, dropping 10M on plans is pretty easy to do. So, while it may seem like hoarding, it really does help spend more gold for some people.

Farming is all about RNG though, so it might not be quick gold if it takes ages to get the drop.

Was going to kinda say the same thing. I answered the poll in terms of liquid gold. If you count my investments in the game that I could sell at any point then add another 250 million or more. Because of this game's decent rate of inflation, gold is a terrible way to store value and so I often have only 10-20 million on hand.

The question of this post asked, "How much gold do you currently have?" It did not ask, "What is your ESO net worth?"

With ESO inflation (some would say, hyper-inflation), it's a bad move to keep one's ESO assets in gold, as the buying power of gold becomes less and less as time goes by. For example: When I saw inflation beginning several years ago, I converted some 80 percent of my gold into materials. I am so very glad I did. Just one example: I bought 800 Dreugh Wax for 2.3k gold each. Currently, Dreugh Wax seems to sell for around 19k gold each (plus or minus). So, Dreugh Wax purchased with 1.84 million in gold (way back when) now has a value of around 15.2 million! But the value would still only be 1.84 million if I had stayed in gold.

A suggestion: With this insane ESO inflation, get out of gold and into materials.
