Now that we get a card game

... that smells like the witcher games ;) (also have a card game), how about a Poké... eehh... Daedramon minigame where we can hunt and catch different deadlands or tamriel creatures, train them and let them fight each other, with a limited possibility to control them during fight?
It would add
1. Hunting
2. Taming
3. Training
4. Fighting

To the game.

Wonder how a daedra psyduck would look like? Before you ask, I had to google the name!

Ummm, no. There will probably be no monsters fighting each other at all. It's about building up resources or some thing.....so think again. Think of it as probably more of a race, where the first person to fill an empty bar wins, yay fun, fun right!

Now I bet you are WISHING it is as you described, sorry, out of luck. :p

When I recognized how some people react to greyhound races in Australia, I think we shouldn't go down this path. Even if it is just in game, some people might see this as offensive content - and Mirri wouldn't like this either, I guess.

Why would or do people advocate AGAINST a new mode of play that's enjoyable to others. Literally thousands of people would enjoy a system like this. I personally hate card games. So I won't use the new feature. But I LOVE catching and battling games. And I'd use this every day. People who are negative about others in game dreams are irrelevant

Exactly. Building up resources. Of MS/ZOS. Through making people dependent on the newest chapter to play a game where you can find the new uber rings and whatnot, just as with the archeology thingie. And also maybe the bestest cards only being available through crown crates. So resource building indeed. ;)

Do I mind a card game? Not as such, no. Something like what there was in the Witcher game (only played the first one so far), no problem.

A COLLECTABLE card game, as in what you find in app-stores, thus breaking immersion AND (potentially) a wild cash grab? Not a chance.

It is something what is banned in a lot of countries in real life and people (and especially citizens of those countries) might not feel well to see this implemented in a game, that is my reasoning about this matter.

And come to think of it, I'm sure the Witcher is the most awesomest video game ever written. BUT:

You do great things, you solve problems -- people hate you and spit at you.

FFS for that matter there's Horizon Zero Dawn:

You do great things, you solve problems -- people hate you and spit at you.

I've never made it through either of those games. Join the Nora tribe? I wouldn't save them if I were Census and those were the last COBOL programmers on Earth. And as for the Witcher -- I'd play if they let me join the monsters. Put Molag Bal in the game and let me send some of these melonfarmers* to Coldharbour.

So I hope it isn't Gwent, cuz take the hint, my rage aint even spent, y'all won't make a dent

Expressing a contrary opinion doesn't not make one "negative about others..." The OP asked a question ("how about...") which, by nature, seeks a response.

I can't stand the mentality of "if you disagree with someone, you are a hater/negative/irrelevant/etc).

ESO is in dire need of a “breathes new life into the game” sort of chapter. Spellcrafting, new class, new weapon, new skill line for each class, 3rd morphs for every ability.... we needed something for combat to feel new again especially the PvPers.

High Isle’s card game is the polar opposite of what we needed lol. No one is saying OH WOW I NEED TO PLAY ESO AGAIN TO FARM THIS NEW CARD GAME IM SO EXCITED.

But hey, maybe next year we can get something better? It’ll be 4 years without any new additions to ESO’s combat. Surely they won’t go 5 years...

But how ZOS described the game, both players bring decks to the game, but those are shuffled all into one stack and both players play from the same stack - YOUR card might not even be used by you, because your opponent might be the lucky one to pick it up and use it against you - imo quite a design flaw, if that is how they will actually do it - collecting good cards will not do much to the game, it would just be interesting for collectors, who collect everything, regardless if it is useful or not.

I suspect the card game is just a stopgap to shepherd players into content that is less demanding on server resources. It will be hyped up until the server hardware gets replaced, and left to stagnate afterwards.

that is the one part of this "card game" that im kind of wary about

whats the point of getting good cards if it also gives the opponent the ability to use it?

im sure we will have some kind of battles with select NPCs as well, but it would make even the games that you should win hands down into a purely 100% gamble of who picks your good cards

There can't possibly be such a thing as "best" card in this game, being that both players pool both card sets and both use the same cards. There probably won't be any cards for sale in the crown store or the crown crate system. But even if there is - they will be purely cosmetic and do nothing much more than the base cards.

Prove me wrong. Of the last two game systems put in game the last 2 expansions where are the new systems in the crown store? Do you see any companions in there? Do you see any purchasable leads? Nope.

I feel like the Pokemon and Digimon franchises would disagree. Pokemon is one of the best-selling games in the world. Real-world animal fighting and placing pets like on racing might be banned, yes, but games? Considering how popular Pokemon is I doubt people would be that bothered if ZOS implemented some similar game. Not that it would make much sense, but I mean we DO have the Sorc Class that can summon Daedra to fight for them.

As for the OP, yeah it's a resource building game not a battle game of any kind. I'm curious to see how it'll work, and the deck sharing thing seems kind of weird but interesting.

90% of the stuff that happens in ESO doesn't "make sense" in Elder Scrolls. This isn't a part of the main series. Time for y'all to finally accept that.

To me the more options the better, assuming it doesn't take away from other development too much.

I don't run raids but i don't try to deny new raids from being added. If enough people have interest in some form of pet battling or whatever, i don't see any reason not to add something, again so long as it doesn't take from other development.

Now if development time is limited, then its not my sort of thing.

90%? What a bunch of hyperbole. A lot of stuff in ESO makes sense for Elder Scrolls. Like the worst part is the crown store's fondness of weird mounts. But most makes sense, and ESO has added and fleshed out the lore more than any other game.
It might not be a singleplayer game but it's part of the serie and canon, it's time some people finally accept that.

Indeed, that is why I think it is a design flaw - it is basically a game of chance like this. There might be a slight possibility for a tactic, like doing the unexpected and bring really bad decks to the table or those with just a small amount of good cards, to increase your "knowledge" of what is in the mixed deck and confuse your opponent. If I know the rule set, I might check that out using complex adaptive systems and see, if those can come up with a tactic - if they can't, it is a pure game of chance.

I don't play a mmo so that I can play cards. While that is the case of one was to be immersed in the environment or role playing. Doing something other than combating monsters might be fun. My fear however is that ZOS has a tendency to hide items of importance behind new "content" in an effort to force players to do it. Unfortunately I'm almost certain that the same thing will happen with this card game.
